Glad I'm a combo gamer and don't have to chose. I have a gaming PC for the multi-plats and superior graphics plus a PS3 for it's great line-up of exclusives. An added benefit is that they're both free to play online; they make a great gaming combo.

Here is my gaming equation: (BF3 on PC) + (Uncharted 3 on PS3) = AMAZING!

I play PS3, 360, and PC, but this analysis is crap. $20 says those revenue numbers include F2P/social garbage games. In fact I know they do.

There was another chart posted here a while back that breaks it all out, and when you take out that fluff and focus on core games (i.e. the kind gamers actually think of when we discuss this), PC gaming has been flat at best for years now.

Also, the reliability thing was stupid, as every PC is different and they can be plenty unreliable. Not 360 unreliable, but certainly PS3-level unreliable.

You can't determine a winner, because the 2 different kinds of platforms aren't even in competition with eachother.

Anyways, glad I'm an open-minded gamer that enjoys his PC and his consoles, so I don't have to choose.

I'd be a PC gamer but the hardware requirements of new games go up so fast.

Not really. Maybe a bit more this year, but for the last 4 years the need for upgrading to play the latest and greatest games hasn't really been an issue.

I would argue part of that is due to the fact that there haven't been too many AAA games for PC in the last few years.

The reason requirements dont go up is because games are made and limited for consoles

Bladesfist, you just inadvertently made an argument against the point of PCs. If they are being held back by consoles, then why shell out the cash for a gaming PC that is only going to provide a marginally improved experience of the same game?

I used to build a new rig every 2 years. Now? It's been 3 years and will probably be another 2 before I do another. Why? Because there aren't enough "true" PC titles, that truly take advantage of the hardware, to justify it. I'm not gonna pay for all that just so that I can play Mass Effect in slightly higher resolution.

PC games often can support user mods, which is a great thing, but hardly something to hang a hat on.

I've been playing PC games since the 1990s. Anyone who claims that PC gaming isn't in a rut at the moment is in denial. Sure, F2P and social games are way up, but that's hardly a good thing for true gamers.

Technically PC all the way. Just look at Battlefield 3 for example. PC Version is superior in almost every way. I have only a good PC. When I play console games @ friends it's alwasy fun ... but the resolution for example is something I could not stand. I play in real 1080p. Some console games aren't even 720p. For some people this isn't a big deal, for me it's like day and night. Next point is gameplay/controlling. Mouse and Keyboard is everything when it comes to every kind of Shooter. You make a fool out of yourself by saying different. There are a few good games on consoles. But they don't make buy a 5 year old technology with 2-3 good games.

Console is winning I own a eagle eye converter on my PS3 which allows me to use my mouse and keyboard on any PS3 game :)

This isn't the sense of console gaming. By using Eagle Eye you can also play on PC. IF you play console then you should stay with your controller. And the DualShock3 is the best Controller.

PS3 destroys PC in that category.

Console for me. I've been gaming on consoles since before the Atari 2600, and though I've tried PC gaming several times through the years I always come back to consoles because that's where the games I want to play are for the most part.

PC for me since it got me started in gaming with Starcraft and Counterstrike. Had I been bitten by the controller instead of a mouse first then I might be a console gamer right now. Tried the PS2 and add an X-Box 360 controller to my PC...not my cup of tea.

I don't really care much about who is winning.

A lot of the games I play are PC exclusives (flightsims, MMOs, RTSes etc.) or simply run/look better on the PC (Skyrim etc.). I can only think of a couple of games I would have liked to play that are console exclusives. So my focus is obviously on PC gaming since I can't justify buying a console for just a couple of games.

I don't have any particular loyalty to PC gaming though.

Ultimately, it's the games I'm interested in, not the platform. If all the games I play suddenly became console exclusives or for some reason more enjoyable on consoles, then I would get a console instead and use a cheap laptop for surfing and such.

Agreed, but I believe this study is only a small sample of a larger more detailed study that you have to purchase. It does reek of bias just by looking at this though.

I agree. Plus, why would you pay them to gain access to the full study? If someone has that kind of money to throw around, they need to get in touch with me and fund the "dude needs more games" fund.

Also, I have found that many studies involving PC gaming love to include things they leave out of consoles. Such as indie games. That's a bad example, but it's the first that popped into mind.
