The 5 Most Exciting Announcements at the 2011 VGA's

In and amongst all the exciting awards given out at the VGA’s, something possibly more exciting happens: The announcements of new games. This year there were a bucket-load, so read on to find out what we thought were the top 5 most exciting announcements and trailers at the 2011 VGA’s.

Last of Us looks absolutely amazing. Then again, if its a Zombie theme, I'm there...Also liked the look of Fortnite, graphics look a little TF2'ish. Methinks 2012 is going to be another good year for gaming.

So Naughty Dog comes out with The Last Of Us and Epic comes out with Fortnite. Cliffy B must be kicking himself! TLOU looks way better.

You act like Epic designed their $20 downloadable tower defense/survival game to compete with Naughty Dog's AAA blockbuster post-apocalyptic action adventure.

The idea is that the two don't need to compete, they are very different bar the recurring theme of zombies, and both in their own way look excellent. I sincerely doubt they were trying to compete with The Last of Us, it's like saying that Bastion was designed to compete with Skyrim.

I don't know why TheOtherTheoG got a disagree and why Stuart5756 has 21 agrees. These games were never meant to compete. They look NOTHING alike. Different style of art & gameplay from the looks of it.

I don't understand where this hype of The Last of Us is coming from. The trailer itself was pretty average other than the graphics. But it's Naughty Dog so I guess that's why (which is a good enough reason I guess since ND have earned their reputation).

Why do you compare those two games as if they were on the same train? -.- Fortnite looks fun and funny (in a good way) while TLOU looks Survival/Horror/Emotional. Oh and are you forgetting Epic Games are the creators of GEARS OF WAR? Stfu troll.

I'm simply saying TLOU looks better, they're both zombie games. I've just read an article that compares RDR Undead Nightmare & COD Zombie modes to the original Resi games! Theres nothing wrong with comparing zombie games with different art styles or platform, download only or disc release. Epic is a AAA dev and so are ND, what they announced at the Spike VGA's couldn't favour ND more. Fortnite looks like a game Rare would have made 10 years ago!

Wait a sec, The Last of Us doesn't look anything "yet" we just got a trailer, we've yet to see anything of how the game will play other than a strong hint of survival elements.

I know ND is a great dev and all, but lets wait and see what the game is and how it's played before we call it.

The trailer looked amazing for a PS3-rendered scene, hence the excitement. Everyone thought Uncharted 2/3 and Heavy Rain were the furthest it could be taken.

I'll still give you an Agree though, because I do want to see the actual gameplay and have a better idea of what it will entail.

I have to say it - but I was a little disappointed with Uncharted 3; it was more of the same of the rather incredible Uncharted 2, and IMHO Naughty Dog failed to meet the bar they set.

I am keen on Last of Us for two reasons though; it's intriguing as ND's first M-rated title - and it means the next Uncharted can be "cooked" a little longer.

I have yet to finish Uncharted 3. I'm dragging it out as long as i can. But from where i am, I absolutely loved it. But of course opinions will vary.

And Yes, The Last of Us does seem really really intriguing.
But I'm sure Uncharted 3 wasn't effected by The Last Of Us development since it's from a different team. Right?

Anyway. I have faith. :)

I think we need to see gameplay of TLOU before we get excited. For all we know it could be a puzzle game where you need to complete a puzzle to see the next cutscene.

Alan Wake, Rainbow Six: Patriots, & Bioshock: Infinite were the ones I was most excited for!

Though I wish the trailer for Patriots showed a bit more gameplay. But the trailer was great! =D

The Last of Us looked, frankly, incredible, if handled right they have the ability to do something genuinely unique with the survival horror/zombie genre, and it should be because, well, it's Naughty Dog. I love Fortnite's artstyle and, from what I can tell, the basic premise behind the game, it's probably the most interesting thing, for me, Epic have ever done. I loved the Rainbow Six Patriots trailer, although showing off some gameplay would be the next logical step, The Amazing Spiderman and Fall of Cybertron looked, well, alright if nothing special, and the former, probably not the latter, probably won't be very good, Alan Wake: American Nightmare should be good, it is Remedy after all, but the trailer was a bit meh, and the MG Rising trailer was quite the downgrade from what they originally showed off, but given all the **** the development went through, that's understandable, I just happened to lose pretty much all of my hype for it in the one trailer.

Oh, and there seems to be a Half-Life 3 reveal ARG emerging, and that is completely and absolutely awesome.

Wow, The Last of Us looks amazing, and I'm interested, but come the hell on. There were other games there on saturday night.

Alan Wake: American Nightmare was tight, Transformers: Fall of Cybertron was chilling, Fortnite captured my attention, and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance still interests me. Rainbow Six Patriots and Hitman: Absolution are also on the watch list.

Well, lets not forget Command and Conquer: Generals 2, that is still exciting news too. A CnC game running on the beautiful Frostbite 2 engine could also be epic.

Exactly. Considering the last Tony Hawk games, I have no idea why they included that game and not the C&C announcement.
C&C + Frostbyte + Bioware ? Bring it on!
