JokesOnYou4515d ago (Edited 4515d ago )

You must be suffering from a poor internet connection or maybe you have the ps3 version, which Ive never played. As for the 360 version all I can say is Ive been playing the game since launch, with literally over 50 different friends, family, and co- workers and other than a bit of lag every once in awhile nobody I know has had any huge complaint. Also I rarely hear any complaints about lag from the all the other online players Ive played with over the last few week, plus I havent seen any forums plagued with lag complaints. NO online game is completely lag free but its obvious there are some here who NEED to make any minor problem with MW3 seem like the game is broken. pffft butthurt BF3 fanboys I guess.

Statix4515d ago (Edited 4515d ago )

@JokesOnYou: You're an idiot if you think that the MW3 lag everyone complaining about is only on PS3. I've spoken to numerous people online who say that the lag compensation and netcode for MW3 is absolutely AWFUL (yes, the 360 version). I've played it myself, and it's some of the worst netcode and lag compensation I've ever played in a game.

I have a good internet connection, and usually get very good games in MW2, Black Ops, and BF3. On MW3, however, the lag is just ridiculous. It seems like people with bad internet connections are given an advantage, and it's extremely hard to win a gunfight or react to enemies.

If you're not experiencing netcode issues, then you're one of the lucky ones; but don't dismiss those who ARE having problems as "PS3 fanboys" or "BF3 fanboys," because many many people have complained about the terrible lag compensation in MW3.

Before you even respond, WATCH THIS VIDEO: http://youtu.be/wJOpFCCnv0E . It explains pretty much EXACTLY what the problem is that I and many others are having.

Statix4515d ago (Edited 4515d ago )

@JokesOnYou: Also, how am I a "butthurt BF3 fanboy" when I'm sooooooo enjoying BF3 and the pure awesomeness of DEDICATED SERVERS on consoles, complete with a server browser and the ability to filter to your region? With dedicated servers, I usually get excellent pings and none of that lag compensation or host advantage BULLCRAP that COD has.

The dedicated server feature of BF3 is the best thing I've ever seen in a console FPS, and I wish COD games would have it too. However, the reason COD doesn't have it is because Activision is a bunch of greedy pigs.

JokesOnYou4515d ago (Edited 4515d ago )

I'm telling you for the most part me and everyone else I know or have met online aren't having any huge issues with lag. That vid shows 1 guy who claims the lag in MW3 is ruining every multiplayer match, nothing scientific and whether true or not I don't know but that isnt the case for the vast majority, every online game has lag, theres 100's of youtube vids showing BF3 lag despite its dedicated servers, like this 1: http://www.youtube.com/watc...

-Does that mean BF3 is a lag filled mess? Hell Gears3 which I also love to play has dedicated servers but once in awhile there is noticeable lag, again minor annoyance easily overcome by endless hrs of great gaming online. Again you say everyone is complaing, who is everyone? Hell I complain, whenever I experience occasional lag in any game too, but b*&$hing occasionally in context of hundreds of hrs of gaming doesn't make the overall game AWFUL as you describe it. Hell I searched MW3 forums for lag, not much complaining there, if anything theres more complaints about preferences like nerf snipers, add this or take that out etc.
http://www.callofduty.com/c...

BF3 of course has forum complaints of lag, again its just something that unavoidable with so many folks playing these games, but certainly nothing gamebreaking for the majority

I found the lag a bit better actually on the 360. And if I was getting lag the status bars actually went down a couple bars... Before I was getting lag all the time and everyone always had full bars.

Persistantthug4516d ago

and they still can't get it right.

lol

Drabent4515d ago

But CoD butt boys still say this is the best game ever lol.....its #Q^#@^# TRASH!

snipes1014515d ago

I guess it makes sense that the word "persistent" is in your name...you guys never quit coming to the COD threads and talking shit. It's kind of pathetic.

svoulis4515d ago

Well said!

I was a big fan of Call of Duty and unless Treyarch does something amazing this will be the last of the series of COD i get. It's too broken.

TheBeast4516d ago

I wish they would create the ultimate update that fixes everything...

RyuDrinksTheDew4516d ago (Edited 4516d ago )

6 updates in under a month.

call me a troll, or whatever is popular these day, but that is unacceptable*.

princejb1344516d ago

idk how is that unacceptable since there trying to fix the game
i rather have frequent updates back to back instead of ones a month for a broken game

RyuDrinksTheDew4516d ago

id rather have the problems that have been plaguing COD games for years never happen again.

how can you fix it on one game, then the game you release has that problem again? its called copy and past development.

sorry to rant, i just hold this stuff in.

suicidalblues4516d ago

Its unacceptable because they're still trying to fix code that's over 4 years old and still dealing with problems that mw2 had.

ikkokucrisis4515d ago

Wait,...did these guys make Skyrim too?

flyinrhyno4515d ago

idk about fixing the game but just trying to smooth out stuff and idc if it takes 12 updates at least we see their effort and quick response time

claterz4516d ago

You would also be complaining if they only released 1 or 2.

Suicidalblues, the problems that are in cod also affect every other FPS. lag, spawning, balancing issues etc. The game is still fun for a lot of people.

Getowned4516d ago

I think he makes a good point really.we have had 3 Call of Duty games before MW3 and,we still have 99% of the same issues.Sequels are suppose to be a improvement. You are half right a lot of games do have these issues that call of Duty has but not in the same way.MW3's multieplayer has been a huge let down for many as well as my self not many games feel as broken as MW3 dose with the same problem. Why can't they fix these problems before they release the game is the biggest question.I have gone back to black ops as well as most everyone on my friends list.

RyuDrinksTheDew4516d ago (Edited 4516d ago )

@ claterz no reason to put words in my mouth.

if i were to complain about 1 or 2, it would make me a hypocrite, seeing that ive thoroughly enjoyed the likes of Skyrim, which has had early patching.

but 6? come on, that just shouldnt be, especially in the time window that they were given.

moparful994515d ago

Honestly the one thing that could fix a majority of the issues with this game is dedicated servers and if the game paired people based on connection.. I know that it scans games based on ping but its very ambiguous and then when someone is the host their bandwidth takes a huge hit so instead of trying to adress this issue head on they take the lazy way out and implent a "lag compensation" feature that essentially delays the response time of everyone with better connections i.e. artificial lag... Its sickening just how cheap activision is.. The highest grossing series of all time and they still wont man up and buy dedicated server space... I swear if they dont get these issues ironed out I will not buy another cod nor will I renew my elite subscription.....

JokesOnYou4515d ago (Edited 4515d ago )

Ryu you dont understand game design, although its the same engine and gameplay mechanics even minor changes like textures, layout, collision, damage etc will create new issues that you have to play test, surely then stuff like new weapons, equipment, killstreaks, modes, maps, etc will create different balancing challenges= updating the game to make it play better is not unacceptable or a sign that the game was broken its a actually a good thing because they are just tweaking the gameplay based on the real world feedback you can only get from constantly evaluating patterns and trends based on millions of online gamers. Again Ive played the game almost daily since launch and quite honestly most of these updates are minor tweaks that the vast majority MW3 players will never notice....but of course this is COD so I guess I should expect the small but vocal n4g minority to continue hating facts be dammed.

RyuDrinksTheDew4515d ago (Edited 4515d ago )

i never said i did. :-/

what im saying is, why wasnt a lot of this taken care of pre launch? how do you not notice how flimsy you the spawn system is? i understand what you are saying, but they are making similar mistakes from game to game.

just seems silly.

people calling people "COD haters" and what not are just as rampant than actual "haters". opinions are opinions, why cant we leave it at that?

JokesOnYou4515d ago (Edited 4515d ago )

Most on this site just don't really understand what they are actually talking about, I get it, its just a gaming news site and everyones welcome to their opinion, but I just don't understand why so many who follow gaming as much or more than I do seem to lack basic logic when it comes to discussing a topic beyond just stating an opinion.

"what im saying is, why wasnt a lot of this taken care of pre launch?"

Here are the Patch notes, none of which were a huge problem before the patch, its just *IMPROVEMENTS*, since nothing is pefect why not constantly make the game better as circumstances dictate?

Additional improvements to address lag.
Fix for Melee Jump.
Clan Tag Validation (remove buttons from clan tags).
Improve Host Migration logic.
Prevent stat Loss.

-Again if this update was to fix huge problems that had a major effect on the overall enjoyment of the game for the majority of the community or worse a major game breaking issue then you would have a point, but suggest that ANY dev can predict the thousands of variables that might happen based on the the game play habits, whether intentional or unintentional of millions of gamers is impossible= THATS WHY this wasn't taken care of pre launch.

I remember starting waaaaay back playing Super Mario Bros and getting stuck in the ground, and tons of other great games that had a glitch or 2, hell I loved every Mega Man game and I can't remember 1 that didn't have its share of glitches, sometimes I had to restart the damm game.....sure alot of games today have even more glitches but guess what game development is alot more complicated too. In todays era of ONLINE gaming especially there are bound to be issues that devs simply did not expect to happen no matter how much you test the game. Dont get me wrong, of course a good dev can make a game that is enjoyable and plays very well online for millions of gamers without having to update it, however online gaming introduces thousands of variables based on unique gameplay behavior from millions of gamers, whether their actions are intentional or unintentional things will happen differently than what you saw in hundreds of playtest with just a few thousand testers and each new game will balance differently no matter how close they resemble their predecessor, lets not even talk about how you ensure your game is not exploited when some people dedicate their time and energy to do nothing but find ways to cheat, especially when its the #1 game on the market.

RyuDrinksTheDew4515d ago

how is knowing game code "basic logic"?

im confused now.

im saying i dont like the fact that since launch, they updated 6 times. i dont know why you are showing me patch details. i agree its good that they are fixing it, i never said it wasnt.

why is it no ok with you that i dont like this many patches on such a high profile game?

JokesOnYou4515d ago (Edited 4515d ago )

Ryu I didnt say knowing game code is basic logic, I showed you the updates to illustrate that they are all minor improvements; NOT fixes for a broken game that would merit such comment tone from you and others on this thread......furthermore what Im saying is that if youre going to suggest that this update which among othyer minor things improves lag somehow should have been already fixed because of past games is not valid under the circumstances, that type of comment demonstrates you lack basic knowledge about game code, which is fine UNTIL YOU ARE THE ONE whos criticizing the update as if the devs should have already known about these tweaks and made THIS game flawless based on past iterations, again not to beat a dead horse but it doesnt work that way, only the less informed think it does.

2nd, You seem to be purposely overlooking the overall point that I made which is that minor updates to a game that already plays well is a blessing, not a problem as you imply with your "6 updates" comments, I mean 6 or 50 they take a few seconds and are mostly unoticeable so why would that bother anyone who truly likes the game?

Finally its not that I care that YOU dont like so "many patches in such a high profile game" its that I was attempting to unerstand WHY it bothers you...which as I assumed its now evident you lacked any well founded reasoning.

DARK WITNESS4516d ago (Edited 4516d ago )

"improvement to address lag" Really??? I shall put this to the test tonight.

If I was a betting man my money would go on it being worse. these guys are a joke. lets see shall we.

DARK WITNESS4515d ago

update;

ok, so I said I would put it to the test and I have.

so far.... So FAR, there is a noticable difference.

I have just played 2 games and gone 26/1 and 23/0. I was using the scar in one game and the type 95 in the other.

You can look at my history and class in that group of gamers that have been hating on the game ( with good reason in my opinion ) but right now, whatever they have done, it does feel better... so far.

I will see how it holds up the rest of the night.

DARK WITNESS4515d ago (Edited 4515d ago )

I take it the disagrees mean that you have played it after the update and not found it any better.

I would be great if you could actually post and lets hear what your experience has been so far.

I have played a few more games and so far they have been good except the very last one. That felt bad again.

They still need to sort out the spawn system as well.

FAGOL4515d ago

Nope no difference for me. I was last man standing in SnD looked into that tunnel in Hardhat, saw a guy prone so I ran away. I was no where near the entrance of that tunnel but I still got killed. The killcam showed that I didn't even move from the tunnel entrance.

DARK WITNESS4515d ago (Edited 4515d ago )

@ FAGOL

I hear you man, I hear you.

follwing on from my last update which was last night, i have been playing all day today. what I have noticed is that when I play uk players it seems to be better. When I get players from other countries like France or Spain, then it feels exactly the same.

I have seen a lot more bullshit today then I did last night.

Overall I think it still needs a lot of work.

Call of Duty Players Disappointed by $80 B.E.A.S.T. Glove Bundle Deal

Recently, players of Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone were met with a new bundle featuring the B.E.A.S.T. Glove, inspired by King Kong's armament in the Godzilla x Kong movie. However, the $80 price tag attached to this themed accessory left many Call of Duty fans feeling underwhelmed.

Controversy in the COD community feels like it happens within an alternate timeline. Activision will take the piss with something, there will be a momentary fuss about it, and then they will forget about it and carry on anyway. Repeat this cycle literally every year for the rest of time.

Gridknac9d ago

They call that a crack head! Thats what this is really about, its an addiction. People who dont smoke cigarettes look and laugh at the addicts that spend $8-$10 a pack, but they cant help themselves, they are addicted. That same analogy applies perfectly to the whole MT industry. Only an addict that was not thinking clearly would spend this kind of money on something so frivolous. A round of multiplayer provides the same high a person gets from scratching a lotto ticket, or putting money on a sports bet. MT in general need to really be regulated because you have a generation of kids becoming adults who grew up only knowing the MT era of gaming. Its normal to them and they will in turn teach their kids the same by just being a gaming parent and getting their kids involved with them in gaming. Thats why no matter how ridiculous the headlines keep getting out of the MT industry, it never seems to fade or go away.

X-237d ago

I'm so tired of hearing about what they're doing with this game, its never going to change and it's never going to value the consumer over money, furthermore the people who engage so heavily in the microtransactions I guess allegedly are having a blast and can't wait to do it some more this year when the new version of the game drops.

Cheech And Chong Are Coming To Call Of Duty Because Everything Must Be Consumed

The famous comedy duo is the latest example of pop culture becoming one big grey blob

Christopher23d ago

Certain to have some sort of reference to their online store for CBD/THC chews, which is advertising heavily online the last month or two.

Sciurus_vulgaris23d ago

The randomness of the multiplayer characters is one of reason I quit playing COD after briefly returning in 2022. We got Space Marines, rappers, tree monsters etc. all in a series called “ Modern Warfare”.

OtterX23d ago (Edited 23d ago )

I think if there was ever a time for a competitor to rise up and take away some of Call of Duty's thunder, the time would be now. A military shooter that takes itself seriously, not sold out to Fortnitism. Easier said than done, I know... but the time is ripe.

I can't stand this stuff either.

Palitera22d ago

There are tons of MP shooters that make no profit, if you're looking for one of those

fsfsxii22d ago

You guys have been saying this shit since 2009. Fortunately, nobody’s bringing down cod anytime soon, if ever.

crazyCoconuts22d ago

I agree. I really didn't like how the silliness takes away the gritty origins. That and all the crazy effects... dunno. I'm still playing it but I'd love for someone to steal their cheese and cater to grittier players

OtterX22d ago

@fsfsxii It's not so much wanting COD itself to die as it is wanting this silliness to die. Like CrazyCoconuts said, it takes from the grittiness. Many OG COD players want a straightup Military shooter experience, not silly costume time at Carnival.
