I don't know man..I'm a huge DMC fan and..I don't know what to say about this game. My honest opinion is, this game looks awful. Maybe I'll rent it since I've played every DMC game but, I'm really disappointed. =/

I know it's your opinion and everything but, you think this looks good? For one, there's no combat gameplay. Two, the game looks like it was designed for the PS2's early years and hurt my eyes.

CAPCOM: Dark Void = Trying Hard to be Western
Ninja Theory: Enslaved = All Show But No Go

Shinji Mikami may have used Western inspiration and stuff with Devil May Cry and all his games but he & his staff made the game in their own Japanese way. and this has none of that whatsoever.

It seems Capcom will never learn with Dark Void and Bionic Commando.

I don't know why but I seem to enjoy Japanese style games more then Western style not saying Western is bad its just that those games leave a bigger impact on me.

It's not 60fps, it's 30fps. And fans of the previous games would instantly see from the combat that it's slower than previous DMC games. The 60fps and the high speed combat was what made DMC popular in the first place.

Overall though, I admit, it does look decent. If it was a new IP rather than using a well known name like Devil May Cry, I'd have no problems to be honest.

The first one wasn't that fast of a game in terms of combat. Actually the whole speed craziness started with third one so I wouldn't say that's what made the franchise popular.

It was always faster and more elaborated in its raw gameplay than its usual rival franchises as far back as DMC1 .

Such a different variation on the theme is one of the big component making it popular indeed .

Simple the gameplay doesnt look good enough . And it's not well animated enough imo , bright saturated colors and artificial speed arent enough to mask that .

Like said above if it was a new ip , i might be interested a bit . But asking why is like wondering why would some people freak out at god of war ditching its gameplay for something like DMC 1-4 or bayonetta .

i will look like a feint or an escape , but i'm tired of expanding on that . It's still fairly obvious for most dmc fans .

I'll just say here , that in regard to the video at hands , it's the same mediocre run and script fake platforming we've seen in NT's game such as enslaved , or even the demo .
DMC was hardly ever a platformer , but going from some to almost non interractive non-fail sequences doesnt feel right .
If you can't properly add plataforming on a game, you better not add it at all.

I don't see anything wrong with the character design and art direction; simply because I think Capcom wanted to give Dante a younger boyish look to his character appearance.That being said, I believe Capcom wanted to give the players the sense of growth with in Dante's storyline. As one progresses further in the game, his appearance starts changing in a more rugged demon hunter/slayer look. That to me sound like logically way to show how a character grow in their world as such as Dante's. Perhaps this concept of progression which I've explained here could be use in DMC squeal.

The thing i notice is that, in this trailer the new Dante has the "amulet" on , so that could mean vigil might be in this rebooted DMC after all, since you need both halfs of the amulet for Sparda sword.

Look at 0:57 or 1:03 you can see it.

We've already established that from concept art shown at Gamescom, where it became established this Dante is Half Angel and Half Demon meaning he never had a human mother.

All I can say for Capcom is I wouldn't be surprised if there's a bigger fanbase for Vergil so I would watch the appearance of him.

Capcom also teased about familiar faces such as Vergil and Trish appearing in later games or something like that (Umm okay Trish was a copy of Dantes human mother created by Mundus, so how could she exist?)

Edit : Oh man, my comments are always too long...Forgive me D:

I thought that this entire shifting environment was nicely animated and enhanced the feeling of running out of time.
But even though this sequence was exciting, it did lack quite a lot of polish (which is very understandable) and it didn't show any creative/interesting platforming mechanics.

Sure, Dante is being heightened or pushed back and the ground might suddenly become a hole, but apart from running, jumping and using the scythe as a grapple, I didn't see anything that wouldn't be found in other games and all in all, this didn't look difficult at all. At least it seems you can die which wasn't possible in Enslaved.

I feel like there should have been way more effects when you'd see ground being shattered and buildings being moved. It didn't feel like anything was actually broken but rather placed elsewhere (0:35-0:40 is a good example of that). And you'd think that Dante would sometimes lose his balance or at least have a different running animation with an entire building rotating (0:50). Also, that broken glass looked quite awful!

But these aren't be complaints anyway. This is a one minute long footage of a game that isn't ready to be released and the level shown is probably set in the beginning of DmC which would explain its low difficulty.I just hope that Ninja Theory delivers when it comes to a compelling, satisfying and EVOLVING gameplay along with a polished game.

As for the graphics, art direction and ambiance, I can say that I'm pleased. The color tones are neat, the textures look good enough, objects and building are detailed...
Best thing was these random words appearing (Limbo speaking to Dante?) : DIE, FALL, DANTE and FUCK YOU made this sequence even more interesting.

I'm still wondering why Dante isn't simply crushed by walls if the entire world can be moved around. Surely that would be a simple way to get rid of him :/

My only concern is how hard the game will be, Enslaved was very easy, even on the hardest mode (FYI I haven't played Heavenly Sword yet so I don't know if it's hard or easy). I really hope DmC will be challenging and difficult.

If its not hard its not going to be a DMC so NT better make sure it has the series difficulty to it and if it doesnt dont use the whole"reboot" thing to dumb down the difficulty.

Then you aren't paying any attention. The character design was the catalyst but isn't the power behind the storm.

30FPS, Half-Angel garbage, lame combat mechanics, lame weapons, easy gameplay (from what we've seen), Unreal Engine. I could go on, but basically it goes well beyond the character design issue.

Game looks good, but I really don't like this version of Dante. I honestly, prefer the drugged out edgy one over this guy. It's not so much the overall character design that sucked as it was the horrible haircut

Y'know, I'm trying really hard to like this game, I really am. But the voice acting is really...unappealing. It sounds so forced.

I like the whole moving world idea, and even how they did it in this, but it definitely doesn't look very chaotic as they were trying to be. Like for example, in the church at the end, I can totally see Dante just standing there and nothing happening. instead of the whole place being destroyed.

And everytime I see Dante, they seem to be changing him. He looks even dirtier now. I get how they are aiming for the bad boy look, but uncleanliness isn't 'badass' it's disgusting.

They insist on it because majority of Capcom's great creative minds left the company so their only option is to recycle franchises and hire other developers to make their games instead of taking a risk and making new IP's. Their relying solely on the name of the games and the fanbase.

Nah they do have a choice vast enough from their own current staff or a pool external japanese studios ... they just blindly tried for a while to sell more to westerners by appealing to them with a western approach , and thus far it doesnt work for most franchises trying that .

Hell i can only think right now of castlevania , doing it right and with some respect (and even so under the tutoring and supervision of Kojima) , and even then there could be a massive debate between fans of the new game and purists

This looks good. Except for one thing. DMC is a combat heavy game. You can say that they showed combat before, they did, and it was slow (like DMC2 combat was). A quick review of Team Ninja games will show you they have never done anything DMC speed (Heavenly Sword was quick, but it wasn't DMC quick).

Combat was shown before, but this is a far away time from before and they didn't show it. Still on my likely to be crap list.

People don't know what they are talking about half the time because they are using certain tricks to make it seem like it's 60fps like some other games do and it looks great in my opinion.
