It's a great game but it's an old franchise so some points have to be taken off because of lack of originality. This should be the same for any franchise thats overused.

Anyways this will start a huge war just like the fanboys with Eurogamer over the 8.5 uncharted 3 score. Shame it was a really good review.

There's no need to insult a well established franchise. While Mario may be old and in my opinion overused theres a ton of gamers out there who enjoy playing with him.

Sadly for us, and sadly for reviewers, "originality" is a overrated word. If I have to say the name of one "original" new game, the only one could be Journey. They can say the formule is well used, but nobody can say a game is "original": Uncharted series is (basically) the same as Tomb Raider series, COD it's the same as Wolfenstein, NFS is the same as Top Gear...

Originality is WAY overrated.

this game looks pretty fun, but I wish nintendo could actually incorporate some kind of story into the mario games besides peach needing to be saved.

lol yeah she sure is prone to kidnapping. Im amazed that after so many incidents she doesn't install a state of the art security system or have an army of body guards to protect her. Maybe she likes getting kidnapped because than she can have great rescue sex with Mario and maybe Luigi.

...uh well anyway, back when I was a nintendo only kind of guy, I used to wish the Mario games had more of a story (other than the rpg ones), but now that I play ps3 and psp games...I really don't care. I just play Mario games for the gameplay itself, platformers are my favorite genre, and its rare to find good ones nowadays. Compared to when I was a kid and the n64 came out, Banjo Kazooie and Tooie, mario 64, Rayman glover etc. I don't want to see an end to Mario anytime soon, but I do want Nintendo to get their act together and make some new IPs.
