Casey White : "I remember there was a period in my life that I thought collecting objects was stupid. It seemed like a pointless waste of time, and lazy game design on the part of the creators who were trying to stretch out thin games by offering ‘collect-a-quests.’ Medals, bug-hunts, artifacts, coins, whatever you wanted to call it… If your game was one that featured that kind of content, back in the day, then it was a game I had no interest in playing. That was until Crackdown. When the original Crackdown launched, I was cautiously optimistic. The idea of throwing around cars and leaping from roof to roof excited me… but the idea of having to collect orbs seemed like the single laziest excuse for a collectable side-quest of any game I’d played to date."
Darren writes: "Despite much moaning and groaning, Xbox has had some smashing console exclusive games during its four generation lifespan. Crackdown was one such game, released in the early years of the Xbox 360"
Still one of my all time favorite games. It hurt to see what happened to Crackdown 3 😔
From Bussiness Wire: Rockstar Games is proud to announce that it has acquired Ruffian Games. Based in Dundee, Scotland, the studio will operate under the new name of Rockstar Dundee.
“We are thrilled to have Ruffian join the Rockstar Games family,” said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. “The Ruffian team are a talented addition to Rockstar’s global studios, and we look forward to working together on future projects.”
Ruffian Games is now Rockstar Dundee.
Definitely looking forward to what they will make especially for the next gen consoles.
Well that's a nice unexpected surprise. Hopefully this helps their plans to release more games faster they mention a while ago.
Even more employees to work on GTA5 so the game can see out next gen, the gen after that and potentially at a squeeze, the gen after that
Not only did we go a whole gen without a new GTA, they have the audacity to release a full priced Reremaster on PS5/XSX.
As a proud owner of Crackdown and Crackdown 2, I must say, this was an EXCELLENT read. The game is extremely underrated. I think the success of Crackdown only came because of its ties to Halo 3. If it weren't for that, so many copies would of not been sold.
Crackdown is a mixture of a toned-down Grand Theft Auto and a little bit of Halo. If you are a fan of either one, then Crackdown is definitely your kinda game.
Top game, still need to try the sequel at some point.
All hail Prototype, the new Crackdown.
