No Mining in Mass Effect 3?

GamerZines writes:

In this month's issue of PCGZine we spoke to the general manager of BioWare Edmonton to discuss exactly how development of Mass Effect 3 is coming along and one of his answers to a question about mining particularly took us by surprise.

Mining? It was a bit meh. And once you could find out the ezo planets then it became a bit of a chore.

Replace it with some gold dialogue, maybe a bit more sex and I'm a happy man...

mining doesn't seem plausible in ME3 with the galaxy at war. it'd be better if you could just find shit loads of mining materials on reaper ships. easy fix.

kneon4526d ago

It wasn't plausible in ME2 either. Cerberus spends ungodly amounts of cash on Sheppard and a new Normandy and they can't spring for a few rocks?

AntoineDcoolette4526d ago

BUT I LOVED CRUISING AROUND IN A SPACE SHIP CHECKING OUT FOREIGN WORLDS AND MINING RESOURCES!

Somebody4526d ago

Agree with kneon.

Cerberus had enough money to fund a clandestine network that stretch across the universe against advanced aliens. They had spent a fortune to get Shepard back to life. They even rebuilt the same ship with extra bells and whistles on it.

Then, Shepard had to go and mine some planets to get money to fund his/her own upgrades. While some ancient alien is out there tearing the universe apart (in which only humans, one of the youngest space travelers in the game, seem to know their existence and doing something about it).

There's something wrong with that picture.

Shepard is under Cerberus's payroll so shouldn't he/she received some sort of salary at least like any other worker? It's like the US Navy built a super carrier and told the captain to go catch crabs in the Artic to pay for the jets' missles, fuel and crews' salary.

I can just see it now-

"Come in Shepherd, this is Admiral Hackett..."
"Shepherd here... wassup Hackett"
"Where are you Shepherd, the Reapers have reached earth..."
"Just chillin' doing some mining, you know how it is..."

lol. hopefull the reaper invasion will be the more important task than mining for ezo or whatever. Seriously, though he's a Commander! Since when do Commanders go mining?

How does a stealth cruiser have the equipment for heavy mining and do so in a ridiculously short amount of time? Nevermind mining without any regard on inhabited worlds or worlds where someone else may have a legal mining claim.

I just want Mako exploration to return. Driving around in unexplored habits was much better than mining - because that sucked.

kneon4526d ago

I never did any mining at all in ME1 as it was totally unnecessary. But at least driving the Mako was better than the stupid Hammerhead in ME2.

m234526d ago

I don't know why the removed the Mako to begin with. I loved driving around the planets searching for minerals. I hope they bring it back for the third, but I have a feeling they won't because so many people complained about it before.

DARK WITNESS4522d ago

they removed it because people complained about it and didn't like the driving mechanics of it all...

It seems hard to believe now when you look at how bad mining was in the game.

I personally never had a problem with the mako, infact I enjoyed it, but I remember at the time loads of people complained about the meko.
