I hope they make a prequel and tell us something "new" about the early days of The Boss and Big Boss. I'll settle with what happened to Raiden in between of MGS2 & MGS4 too though (unless that's what Rising is about, is it?).

I thought it was pretty much known by now, its not even in development right now? Either way, mgs5 should just be metal gear, and the start of a new series in this franchise. Not really like a reboot, but maybe a new universe and character.

Not necessarily, it can have the same gameplay, and same type of story, but not fit in the same timeline as what we know mgs is. Kind of like Silent Hill, and we all know how much konami loves putting their big names on games, whether it has anything to do with the franchise's timeline or not.

Mull on that, Revolver Ocelot is the biggest hero in the whole series.

Agreed!! Nobody seems to realize this!!
Seems everyone forgot how Revolver Ocelot was a Triple/Quadruple agent back in father's[Big Boss'] time.
I'd like to know why he did what he did, I know it was for the greater good. But it's like he was doing something bigger than Solid Snake way before Solid Snake was even around.
I like to think that because of Ocelot, Snake is who he is today.
Ocelot was a hero too, one of the good guys.. he just stood by the " sometimes we must do bad in order to do good"

Personally, the most exciting character to play as has to be Gray Fox. A lot of his story hasn't been seen. Besides he's a cooler ninja than Raiden.

The problem with Metal Gear Solid 5 is this : Solid Snake was dying at the end of Metal Gear Solid 4 and Raiden became a family man and retired.

So if Metal Gear Solid 5 turns out to be a true sequel to MGS4 then it would all but destroy what Metal Gear Solid 4 was all about in the first place not just the overall Metal Gear story arc and characters but it would ruin the whole experience for long time Metal Gear fans that loved every minute of Metal Gear Solid 4 because it was truly and finally the last REAL Metal Gear game.

I would be fine with another Metal Gear Solid as long as its a prequel or possibly an all new current gen remake of the old 8-bit Metal Gear games Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 : Solid Snake.

Im sure that at least 70% or more of todays gamers dont even know that there even was a Metal Gear game waaay back in 1987.

As far as Im concerned as a long time Metal Gear fan Solid Snakes storyline ended with Metal Gear Solid 4.

Thing is, MGS3 and Peace Walker have shown that Kojima has no issues with going back in time with the franchise. I think he's pretty adament that MGS4 ends the series, even the dialogue at the end isn't like the other games where there's some huge reveal/question.

MGS4 is the last chronological game in the franchise.
