In-depth Review: Battlefield 3 - Electronic Theatre

Of course, launching at the tail end of the year, and practically going head-to-head with Activision’s industry leading franchise, Battlefield 3 has to pack plenty of content to compete. Name alone might be enough for some, but there are plenty of gamers new to the franchise that may find migrating away from Call of Duty a bigger challenge. That Battlefield 3’s single-player campaign is relegated to the second disc is indicative of DICE’s intentions for Battlefield 3. The series built its fanbase based on the multiplayer aspect of the videogames, and were it not for Battlefield: Bad Company’s insistence on characterisation it’s highly unlikely that there would be any campaign to speak of even today.

Single player was the second disc, but it seems that's what all the reviewers played first.

Great looking, great sounding....fairly average gameplay. Vehicles are the stars of the show. Destruction is dialed back significantly on consoles.

Exploitable boosting is rampant but thankfully Dice is banning these cheaters.

I would hardly call the gameplay average, at least online. I havent had this much fun in a shooter in a long time. But thats just one mans opinion.

If you think Bf has average gameplay, cod must be sub par. And what makes you say the destruction is dialed back just on the console? This is the same engine for pc and the console was lead platform.

gameplay is fine..

but SP campaign mode was pretty disappointing. Nothing special. I thought Medal of Honor SP was better.

MP was fun!

I wish reviewers would rate the single player and multi player separately (for all games). That would probably give a more accurate review of the drastically different game play a user will experience. ...But I guess and overall score is pretty useful as well.

Really? A 68/100...wow. Tbh I wouldn't review BF3's SP together with the MP.

MP is just wicked, and addictive. SP wasn't bad though, but shorter than I expected. Reviews are opinions now.

hmmm I think there will be no old BF glory days for EA since they are loyal to their greediness and laziness :D

Knightofelemia520d ago

You're asking for a miracle with EA that will never happen unless they can exploit the money making schemes behind it.

MadLad520d ago

We'll see what happens now that Zampella is overlooking the series.
