Super Mario 3D Land marks the release of the first great 3DS game. Sure, we had Ocarina of Time and Starfox but those were remakes of N64 games. With Super Mario, 3DS owners get their first, built from the ground up game for their system. It also just happens to be the best game on the handheld and is reason enough for gamers around the world to buy a 3DS.

My top 3 are Mario 3, Mario World and Mario 64. Mario Odyssey is also excellent, and I enjoyed Sunshine but didn't care for the Galaxy series.
Even if the eShop has now closed down, the best 3DS games are still worth playing — in any way you can get your hands on them.
