"For videogame nerds, it's long been the subject of frustration: In the last three decades, there's never been a great videogame movie adaptation. There have hardly been any middling ones. Happily, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider looks a bit better with age. Prince of Persia was watchable but ultimately inane because it pandered. Silent Hill, based on the survival horror series from Konami, was disturbingly creepy for much of its 125 minutes. But it went off the rails at the end. And that's it. The rest of the canon pretty much stinks like zombie death."
When asked on a recent podcast if the director was involved in any Silent Hill-related projects, del Toro said, "No, not at all."
What makes sense to me is that much of what is Silent Hill is due to Keiichiro Toyama and Masahiro Ito. Not Del Toro, Not Kojima. I think the first crew did a great enough job telling that story/world/hell that you two jackoffs were so inspired and decided you needed to tell /re-tell it (and of course take credit for it).
When the fans mention Silent Hill to Konami all they hear is that trumpet sound you hear in a Peanuts cartoon when the adults talk. I pretty much gave up on a new, remake, remaster SH game from Konami which is sad because the SH franchise is a great franchise. Sure there were some games that were bad but what franchise doesn't have the odd game that is bad. But Slitterhead has my interest now and I can't wait to play it.
I wished we got Silent Hills, but more preferably I wish Team Silent get back together for more more SH project. In the mean time I look forward to Slitterhead.
Hopefully Del Toro is on his game because his latest film Antlers ended like a massive dumpster fire.
We alll know a new game is coming its just a matter of time, Konami would be idiots by not releasing a new Silent Hill game theres such a high demand for quality horror games these days
Guillermo Del Toro made a surprise appearance at this year's Summer Game Fest to draw attention to the upcoming sci-fi/cosmic horror/survival horror title Signalis.
Ok, not to dig up the past, but every-time I see Guillermo Del Toro’s name on a project the damn thing never gets released. Here’s hoping this one breaks the curse.
It seems that even Guillermo del Toro, whose likeness appears in Death Stranding, has no idea what the game is about either.
its not surprising as he only has his likeness in the game, he has stated he has no other input in the game itself.
Lol. So... this Games a hit based off the creator not his creation so far. I don't get the hype around a game no one has an idea about.
Hideo is the epitome of an overrated... oh cut that. I forgot the many, many fanboys who are mixing up good narration with Hideo's weird output.
But will they be fun?
They will look great but we wont have innovation.
Well, I don't know about Del Toro, but I've played some Masterpieces in my short 3 years as a hardcore gamer. I can only hope they'll keep improving.
