Battlefield 3 Install Sizes for Xbox 360 Revealed and Confirmed. Day One Update Live.

Thanks to some retailers selling the game early, a couple of our readers have put their hands on a full retail copy of Battlefield 3 on the Xbox 360. While other reports have the PS3 version install clocking in at 2 GB, that is true and it is actually the same as the Xbox 360 HD-Pack. The PC version install size is actually smaller than that of the Xbox 360 and we even know the size of the day one title update.

omg, great news.. That means that the PS3 version does run & play from the PS3's hard drive after all.. Awesome! :)

I thought the game runs off the blu-ray disc with some textures streaming from the HD.

I'm quite sure that it's not the case. Unfortunately, you won't be able to download the game on the PS3.

What I mean is that you'll play it off the disc plus the hardrive at the same time.

It seems you are misinformed, it seems the PS3 version only has the texture pack as an install option. The disc will still be spinning and streaming data.

No the xbox 360 has the HD texture pack to as an install option

PS3 one is mandatory. The 360 one is optional and comes on the second disc.

its 1.5 gb for textures
it 14 GB for the 2 disks

you don't have to do all of them. I only did 2 disk for rage

A few Gigs aren't that much considering what you'll be getting in return. DICE has said that the texture pack "really makes a difference".

Im sure will be on the disc ive never heard of anything like that be a DLC thats apart of the game the servers be dead slow for one thing. it be on the disc.

it's on Disc2 but it installs separately from just installing each disk on dashboard.

it's an in-game prompt that adds another 1.5gb of HD content. (optional)

Go look at the picture again. The marketplace content is the online pass.

it would be better but ps3 uses blu ray cd's that hold alot of gb. maybe 20-25 gb so there's no need to install stuff on the ps3's hdd

The laser for the blu ray runs really hot. I guess it's ok for a few hours, but I had to go through two ps3's . I sadly have no life and play way to much . Installing on my hard drive would save my poor abused ps3 lol

hmmm, prob cos ps3 games has duplicated data already on the disk so it is easier and faster to read.
The install times would be longer and possibly larger.

Blu Ray disks carry more data than the Xbox 360's DVD disks. However the Xbox 360 options to install the game onto the hard drive allows the data to run faster on the Xbox 360.

Watch any videos where they compare the loading times of the ps3 vs Xbox 360 with the game installed.

However I'm still getting BF3 for ps3 day one. See you all on the battlefield.

Good thing i have a 120gig HDD, lol. Not much of a bother for me. Have about 57gigs left. And plus, you get a superb game on top of that 15gig install ;)

I find it odd that in the pictures the texture pack actually adds the screw driver and wiring and extras on the phone bomb. And I am assuming the shadow of the screw driver is a texture then too, not seeing how else a shadow would be cast for a texture item?

I honestly think the install isn't a bad idea at all. If it helps with the game's visuals and overall performance then I'm more than willing to sacrifice 7.3 GB of space for it.
