The Worst Accents In Gaming Ever

Megabits of Gaming writes: "Ever since Mario added his first unnecessary vowel to the end of a word, the scripts and voice actors of the gaming world have revelled in the ability to trot out dialogue and deliveries that would have performers in any other industry up in front of a tribunal, or at least hung out to dry in the court of public opinion. In gaming, however, they just keep on coming, and they range from those that are inappropriately hilarious, to those that are just inappropriate full stop. Here is our pick of some of the worst accents ever to bless the gaming world"

"My name is Bolo Santosi"(in a really harsh, manish voice). That was a terrible attempt at an accent, it's like they just picked someone of the street and said attempt the weirdest accent you can think of.

I also reckon that Vanille from FFXIII could be put in this list.

Bojeeva4562d ago

Most of the accents in Just Cause 2 were ridiculous. But it was supposed to be a game that wasn't taken too seriously so it didn't really matter too much.

What about Easten European accents in GTA IV? And the French guys in The Saboteur was also funny.

ChocolateGiddyUp4562d ago

Just Cause 2 has legendary bad acting, and I love it.

Pozzle4562d ago (Edited 4562d ago )

The weird thing about Vanille is, her voice actress is actually Australian. So it's strange that her accent kept changing throughout the game. I can't help but wonder what the voice director was telling her to do, because her natural voice sounds far better. :/

Don't even get me started on Dead Island's Australian accents. Would it have been that difficult to hire actual Australians to do the voices? They were downright atrocious. You'd think that in this day-and-age of gaming, voice acting that bad wouldn't be seen anymore.

Reiko4562d ago

Dead Island was really funny with those bad accents. Game was good tho

Tachyon_Nova4562d ago

As an Australian I couldn't stand it. I obviously barely notice the Australian accent because its where I've lived my whole life, but it is so thick that it is just irritating in Dead Island, indeed it isn't a true Aussie accent.

EA Sends Classic Titles To Steam

This is a nice collection of classic. EA has opened its vaults and released a series of classic PC games to Steam for the first time ever.

Garethvk43d ago

I wish we had a new Command and Conquer.

Vits43d ago

f you haven't already, consider getting 8-Bit Armies or the new 9-Bit Armies. They're made by some of the same folks from the older C&C, with very similar mechanics; it's just the aesthetics that are completely different.

TheColbertinator42d ago

C&C Red Alert 3 and The Saboteur were two different yet completely unforgettable games to me from a better era of EA.

Well, 4-Infinite dropped the ball massively so don't worry.

Sgt_Slaughter59d ago (Edited 59d ago )

Not really. 4, 5, MCC, and Infinite are only remembered for their shortcomings and failures when the franchise was purely known for being a system seller and an all-time great. There's a reason 1, 2, 3, and Reach are looked back on fondly, and it's not because of nostalgia.

FinalFantasyFanatic59d ago

I don't know of anyone that speaks fondly of the later Halo games, I would like to play 5, but I know it's not good, and I'm just waiting on Infinite to hit my strike price. I played MCC a lot later after it came out, so must of those bugs/issues were gone by the time I played it.

To say it dropped the massively is just not true. Many in the community hold H5 as the best mp mechanics in the entire series and say its what 4 should've been. Its campaign was trash but the MP is Fantastic and many faces of the community still play today and it only made 500mill in the matter of months but sure it dropped the ball massively. 4 was hated due to all the changes at once. And CoD like feature and rightful get hate but it's campaign story was liked by a majority of ppl. 343 hasn't nailed ot 100% but they get 1 thing perfect but F up in other places. Infinite had a good campaign and design but the story was a mess. The MP improves upon what Halo 3 was and is what many ppl wanted to go back to but it lacked content severely. So massively aint the word. Dropping the ball massively is when it's pure trash and unplay/unenjoyable. Most ppl blind by nostalgia so soon as 1 thing aint the same its hated cause Halo set the bar so high
FYI reach was not that good.

Dead IP, time to invent something new.

kaos8960d ago

Maybe they can have ID or one of the COD studios help 343 with this series.

Halo-Pop like Gears Pop. Halo bowling. Halo Cooking Mama. There’s a reason why you won’t hear about them
