NowGamer - PowerUp Heroes Review

NowGamer - We feared Kinect would get used as a quick and easy way to shovel out awful kids’ games dressed up as full-priced releases. We’re sorry to say that we’re disappointed to be proven right – though we didn’t expect Ubisoft to be the ones dishing out the tat.

While you could argue that, at the very least, PowerUp Heroes is presenting a genre on Kinect that we’ve never seen before (if you really stretch the definition of the word), when it’s presented a package this fundamentally flawed and lacking in content, you have to wonder why Ubi didn’t just go down the online route. Because that’s exactly what this feels like, an XBLA game to spend five minutes throwing your arms at before moving onto an actual game.

Sound Bad..who even knew this game was even in existance. Never even heard of it..Ubisoft or not.

Still love what Ubisoft has pulled off otherwise with Child of Eden and Fitness Evolved. But, this game doesnt even sound like it was on anyone's radar and that's a good thing in this case. But, I'm only going on this review so far. Who know if the big boys will even bother.

I was looking forward to it. Still am... Kinda. Need the demo.

I do agree that these small Kinect games should be released on XBLA at a much lower $20-$25.

Matt Ferguson of G4@Syfygames takes a look at three different peripheral accessories for games that helped not only to improve the gameplay but also provide an overall more immersive experience. gamrReview - What Kinect Offers the Core

Motion controls have been a divisive subject for gamers ever since the launch of the Wii. Since then, Kinect has only fuelled that fire. And while the Wii has since proven its worth to fans, Microsoft has been struggling to create convincing arguments for core gamers to like Kinect. This article is aimed at showing that Kinect can not only be a good home for core games, but it can enhance aspects of them too.

I think it has potential, it's just that no effort has really been made to realise that potential. I'd love a Viva Pinata Kinect game, for example. Rare should've made that instead of KS2 :(

Shadonic4413d ago

i agree there really hasent been any effort put in, Rare has put some effort in with the kinect sports titles its just that the titles themselves are ones that most consumers dont want.

Personally, I'm a huge fan of Kinect and would love to see the device shine...

There are great games on kinect but the bad games outshines the good games.

Kinect + a MS version of Move would be great. Kinect by itself... not so much. It'd be better as a control augmentation, than a standalone controller.

Alternatively, Move + Sony version of Kinect would also be great. I'll bet both options will be possible, next gen.

Raoh4413d ago

This, I know people would rather fan the flames but..

Kinect is a better camera than the pseye

and

MOVE provides better accuracy than Kinect.

With kinect you cant game against controller and keyboard players like you could with move.

With move you can't get great head tracking like you do with kinect.

People say competition is a good thing, not always, ms kinect on playstation with move would be awesome.

Im hopeing that ryse does good and fable the journey. Theres still room for indie developers to do something really amazing i mean most of the stuff like free movement and shooting have all been done by independent developers. Opening the marketplace or kinec fun labs to indie developers would just make the device flourish i hope microsft announces something like this at E3.
