Crysis - PC vs Console Verisons

TPV's Phil: "It is weird of Crytek (developers of Crysis) to have graced the consoles with Crysis 2 rather than first give is a go on its massive hit Crysis that was released exclusively to PC for a long time. Then again, Crytek is a developer which does seem to want to go after the PC market quite obviously at times and, although that may be a little discouraging, when I heard the Xbox 360 and PS3 downloadable version of the epic was going to be coming very soon, I was over the moon. For those of you who have lived under a rock eating worms and sleeping in a bed of dirt for the past 5 years, Crysis was probably and indeed still may be the best looking game on every platform ever."

Well done, you can copy and paste and still manage to spell Crytek incorrectly. Take a bow son, take a bow.

We do not care what Crytek says, this is an opinion piece with OUR opinion NOT Crytek's opinion.

Read it, Yerli isn't saying the graphics are technically better, he's saying they look better. In any case, it clearly doesnt look better on consoles than PC.

And it baffles me how so many people can spell Crytek wrongly, surely most people have seen it written more than heard it spoken, and its only 6 letters for christs sake.

ScytheX34573d ago

ofcourse crytek will say it looks better on console, to get sales not only from console only gamers but to entice pc gamers to buy it for console too even if they had played it before, think business and $$$ and although they may have made a few tweaks to it, theres still things that consoles cant do, like full control of vsync, AA,AF and plenty of other settings.

ATi_Elite4573d ago

dam how it looks.....Does it maintain the same level of game play?

after so many generic shooters i wonder will consolers enjoy Crysis and it's shift on the fly sandbox game play.

rapidly switching powers made Crysis very fun and added replay value to the game.

CloseSecond4573d ago

Regardless of the differences its a worthy game at a steal of a price.

jtmgames4573d ago

At 19 bucks and with the simplified (Crysis2) controls, as well as the use of Cryengine 2, there's almost nothing to complain about.

Sure there's no multiplayer, but you can play Crysis Wars for free on PC so that point is moot.

Tachyon_Nova4573d ago

Just FYI CryEngine 3 is what the console versions of Crysis and also Crysis 2 use... CryEngine 2 powered the original Crysis and Crysis Warhead on PC, where as CryEngine 1 powered Far Cry.

jtmgames4573d ago

Whoops thanks for the correction. I didn't even notice that.

execution174573d ago

< bought it when it came out on the PS store... ending still makes me wonder what happened. I almost wouldn't mind if they ported Crysis Warhead to consoles

palaeomerus4573d ago

Just be glad that they got rid of the stupid VTOL crap at the end in the console version. That was lame. Just five long minutes of fighting Squids in a copter thing with bad controls.

Crytek Gives Brief Update on New Crysis Game; Studio Has a "Great Team" Working on It

Crytek gives an update on their new Crysis game, confirming that it's still in development, with more to share down the road.

DefenderOfDoom2143d ago

Actually would love a new Crysis campaign.

P_Bomb143d ago

Ditto. Ran through them again last year. I’ll grab the new one.

Crazyglues143d ago (Edited 143d ago )

Yeah they really messed up by not adding the Multi-player to the Crysis Triogly because while the campaign was fun I really loved the Multi-player and couldn't wait to see what it was going to be like on current gen.

They could have dropped new maps and DLC and fans would have bought it up... -But they dropped the ball and did just the Campaign's with no new content or story, which was just crazy.

Anyway still hoping Crysis 4 is the whole Chicken Sandwhich with all the toppings.... Can't wait.

PrinceOfAnger143d ago (Edited 143d ago )

Yeah It will probably be 5 years development

SimpleSlave142d ago (Edited 142d ago )

That's awesome. So how long till the studio closes and everyone gets fired?

No one cares. The whole can it run Crysis is old, dead and stupid. It's also irrelevant, considering only less than one percent of pc owners, own a high-end PC. Second, I believe Crysis wasn't even optimized properly.

TheColbertinator382d ago

Crysis blew my mind back then and still kinda does.

bunt-custardly382d ago

Let's hope the modders can get the other Crysis games working in VR as they use the same Cryengine.
