UGO: Halloween is slowly closing in and we at UGO hope you’re getting ready to celebrate. On October 31st, you’ll have the chance to roam the streets dressed as any kind of crazy creature or character you can image, annoy your neighbors and be rewarded with mountains of free candy. In the process you can boast and show those elementary school kids how to trick-or-treat like a boss. Try this any other day of the year and we’re fairly certain you’re going to end up behind bars. In the event you’re too cool (or lazy) to dress up and venture out into diabetes paradise, you can always escape reality the same legal way you usually do: playing a video game. From the Playstation 2 to the Xbox 360, the horror-laced holiday has haunted many consoles for your enjoyment. To stay true to the Halloween spirit, here are the best video games to play on Halloween.
Times are changing, and these games would have never been made in today's climate.
Every single time someone uses this phrase whether it's music, movies, books, comics, video games, etc it's always the same claim.
The ubiquitous "they" won't allow it to be made. And every decade these claims are made the claimant completely ignores all the "offensive" material that is published when the claim is made.
In ten years, you can write a new article about how you can't make games like Helldivers 2, Resident Evil VIII, Mortal Kombat I, Dragon's Dogma 2, Alan Wake 2 etc etc etc any more.
Dead Island: "The early PC version of the zombie game swapped the playable character Purna’s Gender Wars skill with a prototype name, which shouldn’t be mentioned directly. The skill name made fun of both Purna as a character and feminists."
"Feminist Whore" lmao
ill add one more to the list.
drakengard 1.
its ridiculous tho, especially since they'd still be able to find their place in alot of places in the world. except america of course ha. and maybe Australia.
ppl are so sensitive these days. ha. but it is what it is.
They're not offensive.
And we need another Fat Princess. Fantastic little game!
Some people just have no sense of humour if this sort of thing offends them. They need to lighten up and stop taking themselves so seriously.
Trying to break into Kingdom Hearts is a nightmare.
My advice; play the games in release order. Alot of people say story chronological order but that can be really confusing. Trust me.
I think a problem that SE is going to run into (or already has run into) with this series is that a lot of the people still following it were kids / teens when they played the first one, and are now much older. I know I'm finding it increasingly hard to tolerate the childishness of some of the stuff in these games, and I'm sure there are plenty of original players who have since just stopped following the series for this reason. I can't count the number of times I was playing KH3 and just feeling like, "What the f*** am I doing?"
SE can keep the series PG-13, and try to get a new audience of kids, but how do they intend to get kids into a series with a story that has been expanding since 2002, and over the course of like a dozen games? Especially when there are already loads of newer franchises out there that have already pretty much cornered the kids / teens market.
Honestly, I think they should either end the series once and for all, or take it in a more mature direction, and ditch the Disney stuff (I know, unpopular opinion, probably). It is a series that hasn't really grown with its audience, I feel. Alternatively, they could try to steer it in a more all-ages Studio Ghibli direction, sort of like Final Fantasy.
Indeed. If you wanna give it a try, just go with 1-3. The other games are unfortunately needed to know but you can just youtube all the cutscenes by order of release of each game.
Undead are the peace makers.
The first time I felt like a game got DLC right was Borderlands 1. $10 for hours of content.
Fallout 3, Mass Effect 2 & 3, Borderlands 1 & 2, GTA IV - those are my gold standards of DLC.
Something they couldn’t even give us in GTAV or RDR2
I honestly thought we’d get some Alien type of DLC for one of them at least
Think I'm gonna play a little Silent Hill 2 this Halloween
Ah, The nightmare Before Christmas Oogie's Revenge. Developed by Capcom (at least the time when they were liked). It used the DMC (3?) battle system, but it was dumbed down and was a little awkward, but fun to play (it also has a music rhythm minigames for some boss fights). Fun nonetheless and cheat codes to unlock stuff, like costumes. (I don't think there were any game breaking cheat codes. I think they had the unlocking cheat codes for those unskilled to get them.)
The game isn't the best (which may frustrate you since the level design and battle system weren't polish and you would question who could get a S rank on each level), but it was fun.
If I get stood up by my friends and don't get invited to a party it's gonna be Batman Arkham city for me (if I havent already played the crap out of it) after reading Batman-the long Halloween and maybe Grant Morrison's Arkham Asylum. Not technically horror but gothic and creepy enough that I think it's alright. I'm actually kinda hoping I get stood up, I dont know if that makes me even sadder than I think I am but screw it.
