Are u kiddin me ... this is gonna be freakin awesome ... but price ... damn price is bit toooo high ... because everybody knows it already that "Rent is too damn high".

guitarded774571d ago

I'm hoping this and Move carry over to the next gen Playstation. It's a pretty high investment, but if it carries over, it would be well worth it.

xAlmostPro4571d ago

Pricey.. but dont forget you can also use any usb/bluetooth mouse or keyboard :) the downfall is not many games have the control setting for them..

seems to me though that if they're making this they'll start pushing the control scheme for more games, which is a smart move at capturing some of the PC audience

saladthieves4570d ago

$127 - that's too pricy, considering you can get hundreds, if not hundreds of thousands of K/M combo for less than that.

frostypants4570d ago

Well, seeing as how the PS3 is already compatible with a normal keyboard and mouse (so long as the game supports it), which can both be had for under $40, this looks like a horrible rip-off.

evrfighter4570d ago (Edited 4570d ago )

I always said pc gamers would convert to consoles if it properly supported mouse and keyboard. that means ALL games

expect it to be this way next-gen though. I use xim on 360 and have the converter to use it on ps3. if this is just as responsive as a real pc mouse then a lot of mouse users are going to be extremely happy

decrypt4570d ago

@frostypants

isnt that how console gaming works. they sell the gamer an out dated box for 300usd. gamer thinks they got a deal, only to find out they need to through the nose for the games, accessories etc. its just how things are these companies need to rip people of to make profit and bare the cost of all those employees, adverts etc.

blumatt4570d ago

I bet more games are going to start supporting KB/M. This might be Sony's way of easing PC players onto the PS3. Start them off with a familiar control scheme and then BAM! they're hooked on the PS3's stellar exclusive games. lol

decrypt4570d ago

@blumat

Why would a PC gamer like to:

Pay more per game,
for go mods,
settle for 25-30fps 720 low to med settings for most games.

Sure a PC player may get a PS3 for its exclusives, which to be honest only few are actually good this year i only see uncharted 3 as being a great exclusive(and thats only going to be an 8hour game) nothing else looks good. Now i know fans on this site are going to be list all the exclusives released this year however they arent for everyone. Most of Sony's exclusives are name sake and range from poor to average, its only fuel for the fanboy wars thats it.

blumatt4570d ago (Edited 4570d ago )

Wow. lol Didn't expect such an onslaught of disagrees for that one. I'm just saying that this offers PC players a way of playing that might be easier to get use to since it's closer to a real keyboard/mouse configuration. Then, later on they can pick up the DualShock and learn it too. Options are nice. I won't be buying it though cause the price is just a wee bit steep. I'd say price it at $60 just like the DualShock and that'd be the right price.

Peppino74570d ago

This is waaaaaaaaay overdue but that price is a little high.

DaTruth4570d ago

You can't use a K/M on practically any game on the PS3! This controller is probably made for use with every game!

BattleAxe4570d ago

Looks really good, although they need at least 1 or 2 more keys on the keyboard. I'm not sure whats up with the key in the "r" key location being round, but they should also have a key in the "alt" key location and the "ctrl" key location.

The_Con-Sept4570d ago

Some PC Elitists just can't accept the fact that consoles have started cutting into their gaming lineup./ffb.

I already own a RAT7 and a G13.... I'd rather just use the ones I already have. An update to accept keyboards and mouses should not be a huge update for most games.

meetajhu4570d ago

This is the time console Input lag will be put to shame coz of Vsync

Perjoss4570d ago

Mouse and keyboard is a great idea but wont this divide up the community, even if 50% of PS3 gamers buy this there will still be so many playing with a disadvantage. Unless of course servers can be limited by control method. Everybody knows that 2 gamers of roughly equal skill, 1 playing with M/K and the other on a gamepad, M/K wins every time.

FlameBaitGod4571d ago

For the $ it better work better than eagle eye and when I mean better I mean perfect lol.

Drekken4571d ago

Hopefully it works with all games. I have FragFX and FranNStien and both need work. Some games its pretty close to perfect, but never perfect. Other games its a sloppy mess.

If you can plug this in and achieve fluid motion up, down, left, and right while looking it might be worth it.... but where the hell is the rest of the keyboard. How dumb is that.

As of right now the Eagleye is the best option from what I've read.

f7897904571d ago

Yeah the lack of an "r" key for reload is kind of bothersome. I'm so used to using that key that it would get me killed for some time before I would adjust.

arjman4570d ago

They just need to get right of acceleration on the mouse, I've heard it (mouse) acts like an analog stick

Pjuice4570d ago

yep controllers need acceleration, magnetism, snapping, and friction to aim better which would really make the mouse feel weird on console.

stevenhiggster4570d ago

Yeah sometimes you get that problem even on PC games where it is just a straight console port.
Deus Ex: HR had really bad mouse acceleration on PC.
You can usually turn it off though so if they are gonna start pushing this thing then they'll get games made with it in mind and probably an option to turn acceleration off.

Spitfire_Riggz4571d ago

Well this looks better than the splitfish and the fragenstein i think they are called, about the same price too

kneon4571d ago

I prefer the analog movement control of the splitfish rather than lame binary movement keys.

stevenhiggster4570d ago

@Kneon
I actually agree with that, I've often wondered when someone is gonna make an analogue keyboard, I hate digital movement. Love mouse aiming too much to give it up though :-)

ATi_Elite4570d ago (Edited 4570d ago )

this is a great start for those who wanna use a KB/m but for $127 that's really way too much money!

Sony should just allow standard KB/m support so gamers can go out and get their own KB/M for way cheaper!

Next console Gen KB/m support will be standard.....I just hope the console makers do not force their gamers to buy over priced KB/M set-ups like this one shown!

Dark_king4570d ago

You can use any usb/bluetooth K/M already.Hell you could on the PS2 for linux.

Dojan1234570d ago

Sony may want to prove the support K/B.

xCaptainAmazing4570d ago (Edited 4570d ago )

For one, it's not even a proper keyboard. Other than that, if you want to use a keyboard, play on PC; it basically turns your console into a poor man's PC.

I really can't imagine a single person that should run out and buy this thing.

I'm sorry if I seem like I'm trolling, but truthfully the very existence of this thing upsets me. I'll get over it within the next 10 minutes, but I had to say it.

A-Glorious-Dawn4570d ago

It's just an option, no harm it just being there.

Although the keyboard peripheral looks very cool to me, I always disliked using a full keyboard on my PC, always wanted something more streamlined.

TVippy4570d ago (Edited 4570d ago )

It's obviously for CS, so that PS3 users wouldn't feel left in the cold. The price is plain ridiculous. This should've cost like 10 bucks. Looks very cheap. But noooooo, they wanna make looooots of money off of it.

Pjuice4569d ago

you can turn it off on pc because its an open system or a patch but allot of times you just go into config files and change it, i don't know if consoles will have any of these options in game because i doubt there's a huge market for this thing allot of gamers on here might like it but console is all about hooking into the masses if this doesn't sell a ton i doubt you will ever see good software support for it and i don't think it will sell a ton either i just can't see kids at retail stores screaming for a ps3 mouse to there mother. My personal opinion on the subject if you want a big boy machine to use don't try to get there half way either pc game or play with the kiddies, my xbox360 only gets dusted off when my nephews try playing on my gaming rig.

crematory4571d ago

this is not fair for ps3 controller players :(

geth1gh4571d ago (Edited 4571d ago )

Nothing new. Yout have probably been in many games already with someone using a mouse and keyboard.

There have been multiple devices out there that let you hook them up to your ps3 or 360 for a while now and they (the companies) have done quite well for themselves.

So I don't see why sony wouldn't want to officially license their version.

As stated though, $130 for a 1/4th of a keyboard and a mouse seems way to damn expensive.

CynicalVision4571d ago

Neither is using the Playstation Move since that also gives people an advantage over standard controller players.

MidnytRain4570d ago

From what I hear, the average Move user isn't better than the average DS3 user.

aquamala4570d ago

not really, move is nowhere as precise as a mouse, it wouldn't need so much aim assist if it's that precise.

clrlite4570d ago (Edited 4570d ago )

Agreed, PS Move is near mouse-like if you know how to use it.

15+ Killstreak with Move, without much practice, made during KZ3 beta.

http://www.youtube.com/watc...

"move is nowhere as precise as a mouse"
wait until I (and other people) post CS videos to say that. I will be playing it with a Mouse as well though. This coming from someone accused of "hacking" in CS numerous times.

Pjuice4570d ago (Edited 4570d ago )

you do know pc gamers have the razer hydra which is the first motion controller to use magnetic sensing and is more accurate than any console motion controller right? btw its still not as accurate as mouse and keyboard

+ Show (1) more replyLast reply 4570d ago
Highlife4570d ago

It is still an unfair advantage. Don't like this move would be nice if some games won't allow this. I think there needs to be an even playing field. It would be like a baseball game where one side gets metal bats and the other has wooden.

HardCover4570d ago (Edited 4570d ago )

Assuming the baseball game is between friends, and everybody is allowed to bring their own equipment, then yes that's true.

That's also how it should be, since none of us are getting paid salary to play games online in our free time. If we were, standardization would be key. As it stands, this is a fair peripheral.

boommuffin4570d ago

this isnt a advantage its about preference for example some people play their PC games with a usb controller because they prefer it

OhReginald4571d ago (Edited 4571d ago )

I personally would like a new official redesign of the dualshock 3.

keep the analog sticks where they are. Add better grips on them.

keep R1 and L1 shoulder buttons.

make R2 and L2 more like triggers then pedals.

make the ps home button light up.

Drekken4571d ago

Sigh. So you want a redesign AKA a xbox 360 controller.

Iamback4571d ago

PS3 controller is not good. If you say otherwise you are lying yourself. I am going that far to say that PS2 controller was better. Much better triggers.

OhReginald4571d ago (Edited 4571d ago )

@Drekken

...ummmm did you not read how i wanted the analog sticks where they are???

and you honestly like the ps3 R2 and L2 pedals??? awful design...your fingers slip right off them.

ksense4571d ago

yep. iamback has said it folks. the controller is not good lets all throw it out and go out on a strike and have sony redesign it. obviously there is no way people may somehow have a different opinion or preferences because if we do we are just lying to ourselves....

Blaine4571d ago

@Regi

I don't like triggers or pedals on my controller. Both have way too much travel distance to be useful. Actually, for a gas pedal... the trigger shape would be good! Allow for more precise throttle. But you're right, the "pedal" shape is too slippery. And for shooters, I hate games that use R2 to shoot. Travel distance = delayed shot. R1 is much better for shooting.

Drekken4570d ago

You guys need to wash your hands. Who am I talking to about this? It sounds to me you need to take your Pringle grease infested fingers and give them a good scrubbing with soap.

I have NEVER had my finger slip off of the trigger(R2).

TheFallenAngel4570d ago (Edited 4570d ago )

why is everybody complaining about the PS3 controller? we have been playing with the same controller for over 10 yrs. Why all the hate now? Im so attached to my PS controller because everybody knows it and it just feels right!

CynicalVision4571d ago (Edited 4571d ago )

'If you say otherwise you are lying yourself'

I can't stand it when people say I must by lying to myself just because I don't agree with their opinion.

Get over yourself, people aren't lying to themselves if they like something and you don't.

waltyftm4570d ago

Well said, heard that stupid saying enough to last two lifetimes.

Cenobia4571d ago

I do not want any extra lights on my controller. If I'm playing in the dark I don't want to be distracted by LED's. When the controller blinks because it is low on battery I find that distracting enough, so I don't want more lights.

WildArmed4571d ago

I agree about R2/L2.. I actually got these for my controller: http://www.amazon.com/Pelic...

I think everything else is fine, I don't have any other issues w/ it.
PS2 controller had a nice L2/R2, but in the PS3 DS3, I don't know why but R2/L2 annoyed me until I got me a trigger set.

boommuffin4570d ago

their about a dozen companies that make their own PS3 controllers in all shapes & sizes. im sure you could find what your looking for on amazon

Philoctetes4570d ago

Agreed on the triggers. This is one area where the 360 got it right and Sony got it wrong.

+ Show (3) more repliesLast reply 4570d ago
sickbird4571d ago (Edited 4571d ago )

it's really not that big of an advantage. If you're good at shooters and have good accuracy it doesn't matter what controller you use.

I would like to purchase this but $127? that's outrageous.

ksense4571d ago

keep in mind this is for japan. when you convert that it is obviously going to be higher than usual like game prices.

WildArmed4571d ago

Yeah, since they basically converted the controller into a kb/m format. I don't think it's native Mouse/kb support.. having native mouse / kb support does add a big advantage. ( more buttons to map your keys too help a lot)

Idk, they shoulda added more keys like an actualy keyboard. I like switching weapons via 1-10.
I like having the sprint button be Shift, crouch be CTRL, etc.

But it's still cool they are catering to the PC crowd. Personally, I'm going to stick w/ the DS3.

Ashby_JC4570d ago

@wolfam1

I agree.

If you SUCK at shooters. Like a friend of mine...yeah you will only slightly improve you accuracy...not by much. His reflexes and reaction times are horrid so even with fragfx franken whatever or this..he is still crappy.

BUT..

I disagree...

If you are GOOD at shooters...meaning good reflexes. Hand eye coordination etc. These devices ..ONCE you get used to them will help and give you an advantage.

It wont be a HUGE advantage...but an advantage none the same. That 1-2 seconds I can get my iron sights or reticule on you can make a big difference.

I myself am a average FPS gamer. I have games were im great and games were I suck. The fragfx...have it for the PS3 and just got one for the 360.

It hasnt made me a better player. But in certain situations I feel it has given me a HUGE advantage. Mainly the advantage is in being able to use the mouse to aim.

Everything else is the same. YOu the gamer still have to make smart decisions in games. It wont make you rambo lol. BUT...you will be able to pick off targets faster then you can with the controller.

I can imagine someone with great reflexes etc really doing things with these devices that are amazing. As there are ppl who do amazing things with games with a controller I can never do myself :)

Tales Of Graces Ƒ Retro Review – Holding Out For a Hero

Gary Green said: Namco Bandai heard the call of many fans asking for the PlayStation release of Tales of Graces which was originally released seemingly exclusively for the Wii back in 2009. If you’re acquainted with the Tales series then Graces f won’t be something entirely new to you, yet if you’re a newcomer then you’ll find a plethora of gameplay mechanics and nuances that distinguish this series from other JRPGs. While the game finds itself following the traditional archetype of JRPGs, such as a somewhat clichéd story, Graces has something to offer to both veterans and newcomers alike.

It's A Crime That There's No Sleeping Dogs 2 Yet

Huzaifah from eXputer: "Sleeping Dogs from the early 2010s is one of the best open-world games out there but in dire need of a resurgence."

LG_Fox_Brazil3d ago

I agree, I consider the first one a cult classic already

isarai3d ago

You say "yet" as if it's even possible anymore. United Front Games is gone, along with anyone that made this game what it is

CrimsonWing693d ago

That’s what happens when games sell poorly. And I’ve seen people wonder why people cry when a game sells badly… this is your answer.

solideagle3d ago

Majority of the time it's true but if a company/publisher is big (in terms of money), they can take a hit or 2. e.g. I am not worried about Rebirth sales as Square will make Remake 3 anyway but if FF 17 doesn't sell then Square might need to look for alternative. <-- my humble opinion

Abnor_Mal3d ago

Doesn’t Microsoft own the IP now since they acquired Activision?

DaReapa3d ago

No. Square Enix owns the IP.

Abnor_Mal2d ago

Oh okay, Activision owned True Crime, but when that didn’t sell as intended it was canceled. Six months later Square Enix bought the rights and changed the title to Sleeping Dogs.*

*As per Wikipedia

boing13d ago (Edited 3d ago )

Sleeping Dogs was a sleeper hit back then. It was fantastic. It actually still is. Would love a sequel to this, or at least a revive of True Crime series.
