LAG - "Metroid Prime was released in November of 2002 on the Nintendo Gamecube (Also was released for the Nintendo Wii as part of the Metroid Prime Trilogy, but this is a review of the Gamecube version) and was developed by Retro Studios and Nintendo. It is the first 3D Metroid game and the fifth game in the Metroid series overall. Metroid Prime is the first Metroid game to have a first person perspective. With the release of Metroid Prime (along with Metroid Fusion), came the end of an eight year period since the release of the previous Metroid game, Super Metroid in 1994. Being the first Metroid game to be released in eight years and the first game to have new mechanics, Metroid Prime had many expectations. Metroid Prime is a detective game at heart, and the Scan Visor is Samus' trusty magnifying glass.
It's been two decades since Metroid Prime first launched and it still holds up fantastically well.
I can’t believe it’s been 20 years since I bought this for my GameCube! My best friend and I ordered pizza for delivery, it was snowing outside and we stayed in all weekend playing it. Still one of my all time favorite games and I really hope the Switch ports being rumored is true. Fantastic game, one for the ages🙂
With the recent release of Dread, it's time to look back on the history of Metroid and rank the best — and the worst.
Best (for me) would be the first Metroid Prime. It was simply amazing the first time i played it. so deep and challenging while also turning the series completely into something that felt new and fresh.
Worst (for me) is most likely Other M. I can appreciate what they were trying to go for but it just felt flat and played out.
Looking at the rest of the list, I never played Federation Force but i have played the rest. Pinball is still one of my favorites to play now and then.
Agree 100%. In my opinion Prime was hands down the best game of last gen.

10/10.. I was really amazed by this game.. from start to the end.. other primes were great too ..if not this game I think I wouldn't play Metroid at all :) this is were it started for me.. :)
This game was/is a masterpiece. One of the best last gen. This game had me mindblown from start to end.
