Top 10 Best Uses Of Cel-Shading

Cel-shading is one of the most interesting—and most controversial—ways to present a game's graphics. Done right, it can give the entire production the feel of a comic book. Done wrong, it can just be comical. Here are ten games that use the technique to great effect.

Number 1 is well deserved. that game looks great scaled upto 1080p and has aged better than any game of that generation (I.M.O.)

Yi-Long4600d ago

... Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 looks amazing as well and should be on this list. It looks even better than the show it's based on!

Trophywhore4600d ago

Cel shading is an excuse not to have good graphics in a game.

TXIDarkAvenger4600d ago

All those games mentioned look great using cel-shading.

Define "good graphics" please. Cause for a game to have good graphics doesn't mean it has to be realistic and look like real life.

BiggCMan4600d ago

That's crap, cel-shaded games look gorgeous most of the time. If not gorgeous, then cool in some way.

Christopher4600d ago (Edited 4600d ago )

Ignorance is not understanding that cel-shading takes just as much work to do correctly as common HD graphics.

IMHO, your viewpoint is akin to someone calling out one form of art over another, thinking that sculpting takes more skill than painting or vice versa.

You should have seen Borderlands before it switched to Cel Shading. I would have bought that game...

Christopher4600d ago

One of the key items that aided in my decision to buy Borderlands was the cel-shading artwork...

While im not a huge racing fan, Auto modelista blew me away moreso than other titles on that list. Possibly because it was an early title to cel shade.

Pikajew4600d ago

Zelda Windwaker looks great in any resolution

dragon824600d ago

Good list with a very good choice for #1.

FreydaWright4600d ago

No Prince of Persia (2008 version)?

I was thinking the same thing. Also Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm.

EKWB reportedly plagued with financial disarray many gaming pc's left without parts

EK Cooling allegedly has slipped itself into a hot soup of seemingly endless financial woes, where it has not paid its staff, suppliers, and contractors for many months as the company is facing liquidity problems and a surplus of inventory left unsold, stuck in the warehouse for a more extended period. Gamers Nexus investigated these claims made by former and current personnel, where he found trails of unpaid bills lasting as long as three to four months and unpaid raises that accumulated for almost a year.

EK Water Blocks has two entities—a Slovenian-based headquarters and a US-based subsidiary, EK Cooling Solutions. Steve narrated the series of events in detail, stating that the company was reportedly irresponsible and negligent regarding payment. Consequently, partners and employees are forced to share the burden of alleged mismanagement. It all begins with its extensive range of products, leading to a surplus of goods. EK has over 230 water blocks, 40 liquid cooling kits, 85 reservoirs, 40 pumps, 73 radiators, and 212 miscellaneous accessories.

Yes this is not about video games directly but indirectly this will impact the pc gaming/workstation space hard.

This company is massive one of two in the water cool space so if it goes poof then thousands out there have no spare parts or half built computers.

SO yeah i know not about a video game but think of it as amd leaving the pc space but this is ekwb that could be leaving water cooling in the pc space

Jayz2cents a supporter of there products also has issues

As someone that has built a watercooling rig. EK is big, but there's so many numerous watercooling part companies out there. EK's stuff isn't exactly amazing quality for the price compared to others either, it's just ok. Much like Corsair. The impact would be negligible long term. For perspective the majority of my parts are XSPC, at most I use EK for my gpu waterblocks and fittings. Both easily replaceable.
