Super Mario Galaxy IGN review: 9.7/10

IGN writes: "Mario may be short, but he's not short on starring roles in cherished Nintendo videogames. Ummmm.. different consoles? different genres? the 9.7 is based upon the actual catalog of wii games i think, they don't compare mario to the exclusive of other consoles to make their review

I have not played Bioshock yet, but I will, but I suspect that I will like Super Mario better. For shooters there really isn't anything out there that can top Unreal Tournament, so in my eyes, SMG being better than Bioshock is not shocking at all.

Yeah this game is more of a nostalgia fest, all mario games are boring and more of the same.
this review is expected they dont hype mario even thought they games suck now.

I don't care very much for Halo or Heavenly Sword (just to name two games) and guess what, I don't talk about them, much less put them down or call them boring.

But I am sure that with your incredible skills you finished Super Mario 3 with no whistles on the first try on the first sitting right, and maybe even without dying once right? Same as Super Mario 64 right?

Mario might not just be the game of the year, going by the ratings, it may be a new best game of all time (I believe that title right now lies with Ocarina of Time, as far as review scores go).

There might be a suprise, but I seriously doubt anoything other than SMG for game of the year.

1) Having alot of variety
2) Being Easy to beat
3) Having some camera hiccups
4) Having worse graphics than Ratchet & Clank

when i first fired up the demo at gamestop, and mario screamed "super mario galaxy!" it instantly put a smile on my face. another great review, another great score, and im sure it will be another great mario game. ill be collecting all 120 stars....matching star for shot of jagger....hopefully not all in one night ;)

Twilight Princess might be garbage compared to the other great Zelda games, but on the grand scale, its great! Zelda is held to a higher standard, and, by that standard, it wasn't great, just average.

By the standard almost all other games are held to, it was wonderful.

i just got a wii and been playing galaxy. the game is off the charts.. thats what games should be about.. fun and replay value.. definite game of the year bar none and i got zack and wiki too.

Another GOTY contender. R+C, Mario Galaxy, Halo 3, Bioshock, COD4, Assasins Creed, Haze, Orange Box, Uncharted, and NGS all have a chance at GOTY, some more than others, but do not count a single one of them out.

I think the only 3 real contenders for game of the year are mass effect, bioshock and mario galaxy, the rest surely are amazing games, but those are truly standing up from the rest as truly original concepts or new ways to greatly improve old generes

I really liked that game. Of course it was not as ground breaking as OOT because OOT was the transformation in the zelda series from 2-d to 3-d. However, I would still consider Twilight Princess an upgrade from OOT. The Wiimote precision aiming, cooler weapons, (ball and chain, bomb arrows, double claw shot, etc ) plus sword fighting from horse back and all the fancy swordsmanship learned at the howling stones. For the next Zelda I would like the magic system to be a bigger part of the game ( like dens fire, fiora's wind etc, ) bring back the power gloves and some more side quest like just helping villagers farm, build, transport etc.
