Killcams in Battlefield 3 - An Unwelcome Feature?

i like killcams, but then again as soon as i get killed i jump straight into the game again and thats deffinatelly what im going to do in Battlefield 3 :D

Same here, I only watch the killcam when I want to double check that it was a fair fight. (e.g. connection lag) Or, when the enemy is camping with a sniper and I wanna figure out where they are.

me too, you have to see that killcam just to check if you got screwed over or if it was fair. doesnt really matter though, you still got killed.

I ALWAYS watched the killcams. I actually think it helped my game. You can get a lot of information beyond just who killed you and how. You can sometime spot claymores, other players close by, the perks he uses, weapon attachments. Plus it gives you a few seconds to cool off if you get pissed.

Usually when i canceled the killcam it was because i wanted to blindly rush the guy in revenge, which would get me killed. Collecting yourself and thinking your strategy always gives better results.

At least that's how i played with my mantra of "Be smart"

And that is EXACTLY why I hate killcams. Don't get me wrong, I respect you for doing your homework! But I don't think someone who was bested in a firefight should get the benefit of being able to spot, in death, the things you mention. It's even more unfair to snipers, since it's vital for them not to be located--a killcam immediately gives that up as soon as they kill someone, who can then broadcast his position to their team.

I stopped playing Black-Ops because of the connection lag kills. I have a very good connection but got killed by players who weren't visible on my screen. Then on the killcam they were right in front of me. Things like that never happened in BFBC2.

I have mixed feelings about killcams. They help you if you are the one getting killed, but they can hurt your game if you are the one doing the killing.

I want real Killcams(first person view Killcam) that's why Im buying MW3, well that and the other things that COD brings.

I thought people wanted BF3 to be less like COD, why not add killstreaks while you at it.

I play both CoD and BF series, and I like both for different reasons. BFBC2 has the 3rd person killcam system and I think that works too.

I don't think "real killcams" should be the deciding factor in whether you buy bf3 or not, you putting too much weight on this issue.

Was curious about that and found that list of games on Giantbomb. If the list is correct, then the first game to have a killcam was a Battlefield game :P. So then COD would be the one doing the copying.

You can have 10 heli in air on battlefield. In cod "Airspace is full" just for 2 air units. And cod motivates players to camp for killstreaks while battlefield everyone has to defend a location. The only thing great about cod is the 60fps and controller response which is why console players make it a success.

Battlefield 1942 never used a killcam. The first game to use a killcam was Call of Duty 1 for the PC.

My issue has always been the MINIMAP.....I hate it.
I prefer realism in my games, and there's no such thing as an always on minimap.

But yeah....not having the minimap always on, it adds a level of "intense'ness" when you walk around corners and don't know what's there. Feel's almost real.

I don't mind killcams. If I'm playing on normal mode I welcome killcams. However, if I'm playing hardcore mode I don't want the killcam.

For people that don't like killcams there's generally always a hardcore mode.

Yeah when Wookies get their camp on they can be tough to spot.... and with prone added to the mix it will be tougher so the scope glint should help...

I am glad prone is added though, it was always a bit annoying to me that highly trained soldiers couldn't lay down.... lol

I dunno, I played the alpha and alot of the time you would be killed constantly from no where and TBH it gets pretty annoying so i like the idea of killcams. (obviosly not in hardcore mode.)

I'd prefer BFBC2 - it worked just fine, I think. The problem with replay killcams is that it's not always as helpful as the regular killcams. It's often better to know where an enemy is headed rather than where he was.

COD WAYYYY MORE. If I am sniping in BFBC2 they know the exact area I am in. If I was sniping in BFBC2 with the COD killcam then they would have to know the map pretty well to know where I am located.

Totally. I hope to god that they mean in normal mode snipers need at least 2 shots the the body, because if that's the hardcore mode's way of working, 3 shots in regular would be a joke.

I think most people play hardcore especially because if they chose to snipe, it's one shot on kill. I don't snipe much, but when I do, I prefer not to get hit markers with a .50 cal to the chest. >.>

I would imagine in hardcore mode that the sniper will kill with just 1 shot, as it is meant to be hardcore and there is nothing hardcore about a .50 cal round in the chest only causing a flesh wound! lol

Meh I rather there not be killcam. If it does stay however I really don't care either way, I always play hardcore mode anyway. I just hope this isn't DICE's way of making a game more 'accessible' to people who may have difficulty playing it. I own a console and I know the PC fan base of Battlefield have expectations for this game to be on the level if not better than Battlefield 2. I just hope DICE appeals more to those fans than to people who aren't familiar with gameplay of the series and just got into Battlefield from the Bad Company series.

I do agree killcam does have very useful advantages such as seeing if a guy is cheating or not and spotting campers, but for people who have stealth tactics well it kinda just makes it pointless for them. They can go behind enemy lines, destroy enemy equipment and heavy armor. I mean a big tactical advantage that can help your team advanced and push the other team back is ruined just because some guy observed you on killcam and knows your location is within their base. I just think more players need to be more attentive to detail and know what's going on around them in the game. It just comes down to situational awareness. Either way, if they keep it in or not I have no doubt that it will be a great game and that it most likely won't affect the overall fun factor of it's gameplay.

I don't like kill cams and I prefer them off. All it does it give the opponent information about how you play, camping or not. As Sun Tzu said "Know yourself and know your enemy, you will be undefeated." It is just a handicap for the loser is what I think of it.

The BF2:MC i thought had the best kill cam system ive seen in a game,

The kill cam panned out from your corpse and pointed in the direction of the enemy and followed them slightly allowing you a rough idea of where they were, allowing them to retain their tactical position but also giving you a tactical idea of where they could possibly be.

For me this was the most balanced because it meant you could easily tri angulate snipers IF you were smart enough to do so.

A killcam is a replay of how you died.

Killcams are a crutch, they're there to help the poor little guy who just got killed and everyone on here who likes them admits admit it. It's instant gratification of knowing where and who he Is. Nothing is more noob freindly than a killcam. Hardcore all the way.

That would be great, but consoles are not an open platform so it means that Sony/MS and DICE/EA have to approve first... Very little chance of MS or EA allowing it.

All gaming platforms should be open tbh, it would be better for everyone - though the console stakeholders want to be able to control how their platform is used so they can make as much money as possible through it - not caring at all about the end-users as long as they are happy to pay for it.

No matter what type of killcam, weather it be 1st person, 3rd, panning from your body, good players will destroy you. No matter where you're at with any killcam, they will know your position to the inch. Even if there's no killcam, if you kill me from the front, I will know where you are just by your tracer exactly, too.

I welcome them, but if you need to study or even look at them to get kills anyway and find the position on your enemy, you won't bother me. Despite your advantage, because you're not good enough to kill me anyway if you can't instantly know where I am just from the bullets hitting you in the face, I will destroy you. You may get a couple kills, but I'll get 2 for every 1 you get at least. Bring it. Killcams don't matter if you need them anyway. I speak for all good gamers out there. Sometimes kill cams get annoying, but overall the ones that will prevail won't be the ones using them.
