Anriasang writes, "CyberConnect2 announced .hack//The Movie earlier today. While fans were likely pleased at the news of a 3DCG movie based off the franchise, it appears that many had been hoping for a PlayStation 3 revival when CC2 began teasing the announcement last week."
.hack (Dot Hack) is a gaming series that started when technology was still evolving and growing. These games showed us some of the horrors but also the best parts of online gaming. But these games are decades old, and perhaps it's time for a remake, a remaster, or even a game in the series.
the OG games, yes they do.
but.. they are very niche to begin with.
bk then, i only knew one person who played the games, beside me.
The Xenosaga trilogy also needs a remake or at least a remaster. I never got into .hack when they came out on the PS2 I would try them out. A remake or a remaster would be great I am not paying an arm and a leg for the original games.
CyberConnect2 boss Hiroshi Matsuyama has confirmed that a new .hack game is in development! in its 20th anniversary concert.
Yeeeesss!!!! I hope they vary up the dungeons, but I’m so happy this is a thing
I wouldn't mind some cleaned up remasters of the originals. Those are the ones I have real nostalgia for.
Almost 2,000,000 forum accounts for DotA 2 have had their base-level account information leaked online after a breach in July.
Please a new .hack JRPG game for the PS3!!!!!!!!
Question, do these types of movies play on regular blu ray players? Just curious. either way I'd be playing it in my ps3
Edit: what does the disagree mean? does that mean it DOESN'T play? Does it mean I WON'T be laying it in my ps3?
Either a new .hack or at least an HD remake of the games while they do that dust off Xenosaga and turn it into an HD remake as well
.hack HD collection please
To my knowledge, this has only been done once before. The first Macross Frontier movie, "The False Songstress," was released on a BD/PS3 hybrid along with a short (but totally awesome) Macross game based off of the (even better) PSP Macross games.
You stick the disc in the PS3, and an icon shows up under both the video tab and the games tab--pretty self explanatory. Nice to have everything on one disc.
(They're doing the same thing with the second Frontier movie, Wings of Goodbye, due to be released in a month or two).
So, what does this have to do with this dot hack hybrid pack?
Basically... don't get too excited guys. Movies in Japan are expensive. Games are expensive, too. And these hybrid products? Yeah--they're not going to cost much more than your average movie (which is LESS than your average game). What that means is that you should NOT expect to see much in the way of content. The Macross game I mentioned earlier was more like a demo than a game--it had something like 6 selectable units, 8 selectable missions, and 2 difficulty levels--and NO SAVING.
To be even clearer, if anyone thinks I'm being vague here... a new PS3 game can have an MSRP of around 6000-8000 (75-110 USD) yen. Expect this hybrid pack to cost about 5000 yen ($65 USD).
I wish I could offer some kind of hope, like, "maybe it's just a demo for a REAL dot hack sequel," but people had the same wishful thoughts about the last Macross hybrid... but instead of getting a sequel we're getting ANOTHER demo, titled, "Last Frontier," so I find it hard to be optimistic.
That said, it's been a long time since we've seen anything Dot Hack, so they ought to have something to show for the several-years of silence.
