Nintendo and Sony used to be the best of pals during the 16 bit era with the Super Nintendo Entertainment System.
Is it time for them to join forces again?
They must join forces or they will not survive the ever increasing pressure from the likes of huge American companies like Microsoft, Apple, Western developers, publishers and emerging entertainment hardware like smart phones and tablets.
Japan video game industry is really in great danger right now but I want Nintendo's and Sony PlayStation's tradition and culture to remain strong, relevant, alive and kicking.
I also don't want all the Japanese developer and publisher's who depend's so much on these two pillars of gaming to suffer... if one of them ever goes out of the race because NEC, Neo Geo, Sega outage from the console race were so tragic enough.
Sony and Nintendo should help each other because the Japanese game industry is being choked every minute every second of the day. What would happen if these Japanese developers fall one after the other because they could not compete with their multi-million dollar counter parts in the West?
I love shooters like Uncharted & Killzone but what would happen if all we have are western shooters and no variety?
I believe with Sony's established mainstream core gaming brand + Nintendo's established family friendly & casual reputation operating under one roof then we could say we will have a well balanced Western ( SCEA & NoA) & Eastern (SCEJ & NoJ) video games ecosystem that is impregnable from threats of the other forms of entertainment & industry.
we all heard of great companies merging together to keep their business stronger than ever like Namco-Bandai, Activision-Blizzard, Square-Enix etc etc. thus having more power and numbers to do even greater stuff than before.
Nintendo + Sony should leave all their differences behind them and deal with the greater solution needed by the Japanese industry.
Edit:
Sony and Nintendo has two options if they combine forces again:
1) Either let each other conduct their own business as usual with their respective target markets yet share the profit.
or
2) Make a Unified Gaming System capable of playing both Nintendo's and Sony's first party franchises which will make hardware production less expensive and share the profit.
For the greater good Nintendo and Sony PlayStation should help each other AGAIN to keep the Japanese gaming scene alive and growing.

Workers at Sega of America, a division of Sega Sammy Holdings Inc., have became the first employees at a major North American video-game company to ratify a union contract, a move that may accelerate a burgeoning labor movement in an industry known for widespread instability among its work force.
The contract, ratified Tuesday, covers around 150 people across marketing and other departments at the division’s offices in Southern California. Workers will receive minimum yearly pay increases of 4% in 2024, 3% in 2025 and 2.5% in 2026 as well as a number of other benefits, Catalina Brennan-Gatica, a representative for the Communications Workers of America, said in an interview.

Worst thing that will happen is it will have a lower stock price and ceos won't get extra millions they don't really need. Other than that the company will continue on and ppl will be treated better.
The co-founders of Kaidro are very excited about their upcoming tie-in video game, and so should you.
If Nintendo and Sony joined up, their first-party line-up would be insane.
Nintendo and Sony have very different approaches to their businesses. Just look at their games and advertisements. Also, Killzone is made by a Dutch developer, not American. Where'd you get your info?
As big as Nintendo and Sony are now, they would have the least of worries from apple who would just be starting off, and for Microsoft i think they are also big enough to rid of any new gaming console that comes out.
It would probably never happen but Sony and Nintendo combined would be an unstoppable force. Forget the console wars if this happened. With their combined tech, experience and first party developers they will destroy any future consoles. Maybe I exaggerate a little but Sony and Nintendo even at their weakest are still forces to be reckoned with. Maybe if Sony brought Nintendo. Is that possible?
If Sony and Nintendo combined forces, I call dibs on Cloud on the next Super Smash Bros game. xD
On a serious note, I think the 2 should join forces. Them combined would combine all of the nintendo and sony fans under 1 banner in other word if/when they make a new console, they would make huge sales and provide epic 1st party games.
