So after a ten-year life-span Volition's Red Faction series has been cancelled and won't continue in any meaningful way, so why is THQ right in cancelling the series?
TheGamer Writes "No more nerdy or serious games set on the Red Planet, send me back to that destructive sandbox."
It would be a perfect time with the huge leap in cpu power these consoles have over previous generations
Yes please. Guerilla was a great game. The destruction in that game is still better than most. Maybe Volition can go back to it and let Saints Row rest for a while.
Yes! More players young and old need to play and respect the franchise that literally invented destructible environments!
Would love a REAL Red Faction 4 (the one Volition REALLY wanted to make and not Armageddon) or a Red Faction 1 remake.
Alex & Mike talk Biomutant, a game from Experiment 101/THQ Nordiq you likely have not heard of. While the AAA side of the industry tends to homogenization and imitative, cinematic presentation, “AA” games remain creative and innovative in 2021. Drawing on inspirations as varied as Dark Souls, third person shooters & kung fu cinema, Biomutant is Ratchet & Clank on acid, developed by a team of 20 people.
DSOGaming writes: "Back in February 2019, we informed you about an AI-enhanced HD Texture Pack for the first Red Faction game. However, it appears that a new HD Texture Pack has appeared today. This new Texture Pack uses an improved AI-enhanced method to upscale the original textures, resulting in slightly better visuals."
IDK what this person is talking about in his instruction but all it does is extract MP maps lol.
Wouldn't mind a Remake of the first Red Faction game, I enjoyed that game quite a bit.
Red Faction 1 is an all time classic and the Geo Mod destruction system was way, way ahead of its time.
.
THQ is losing money...something has to give. I find it hard to believe that they are launching new products/Ip's and a IP like Red Faction is being relegated to what appears maybe some sort of casual app/ios type of scenario.
There is some talented people at Volition and it's not like they are closing down the dev so maybe it will be revisited in the future.
More and more, you are beginning to see a lack of vision in the industry as creative directors become more and more in short supply. You need visionaries to fuel these games and if all you do is try to copy other games, you will ultimately fail as your game has no soul.
It's their game, Why wouldn't they have the right. Who is to say they won't reboot the franchise at a later date?
Boring franchise, they should come up with a new franchise that is based on destructible environments.
The concept got a great potential, it must be well executed however, for it to succeed.
Maybe the next gen will be better suited for games based on full destructable environments, if the next gen wont cut on memory that is.
If they want it to succeed again they need to go back to the roots of the 1st Red faction.
no, excellent games, excellent story
if only games could get past being closed minded and stop complaining about every little thing when a developer says there changing something and explain there very understandable reasoning for it and if reviewers weren't being biased all the time things would be different
