Does Nintendo of America actually hate its fanbase? Or is there something else going on here?

Over the past few weeks Nintendo fans have united for a project called “Operation Rainfall”; a movement aimed at forcing Nintendo’s hand in bringing over the titles The Last Story, Xenoblade, and Pandora’s Tower. The operation seemingly failed though, as after a bit of hope initially emerged it was quickly shot down as Nintendo of America announced that it had no plans to bring the titles to the states. So what gives?

For the time being, I’m going to give Nintendo the benefit of the doubt. Yes, it’s true that Nintendo has thus far refused to bring over the likes of Fatal Frame 4, Disaster: Day of Crisis, Another Code: R, and, probably most infamously, Mother 3, to the states, but it seems to me like Nintendo may just be storing up for the coming winter.

Not localised The Last Story is bad juju. It looks to be one of the most incredible RPGs this gen. But Nintty has deprived the west before..Fatal Frame 4 & Mother

Im not going to condone Nintendo America's actions, but I think they are concerned that they would be investing in a release that may reap no profit.

I think they should go for the release but I can understand their hesitancy.

Let's review the FACTS:

It's not a simple matter of Nintendo not localizing games like Last Story, Xenoblade, etc.

A few other publishers (Xseed, Atlus) have OFFERED to publish these games! Look it up! And yet, Nintendo REFUSED to let anyone else publish them in english-speaking regions.

So, it's not just an issue of "Nintendo is being smart because they don't want to take the risk". OTHER PUBLISHERS are willing to take the risk and Nintendo still says "no"!

Man, there's some straight corny people on this site these days.

Amen to that. I'm a bit of a cheeseball myself, but some folks here take it to a whole new level.

Seems logical to me not to release these titles in the US. While I'd love to play several of them, the fact of the matter is that they'd be niche titles only and wouldn't make enough for Nintendo to invest in.

It has been 10 years since Xenoblade arrived in the US, we look back at how the game almost never showed up if not for a group of dedicated fans.

I wish The Last Story would make a comeback.I played it years before I got around to Xenoblade. Mainly because of the scalping going on because of Xeno's limited run. It took me a few tries to get into it but once I did I couldn't put it down. A Wii hidden gem for sure.

As much as I love Xenoblade, Last Story was the better game IMO. I wish Nintendo would remaster or simply port the game onto the Switch.

Xenoblade went on to be a really successful franchise too.

I wish the Last Story get a Switch remaster or remake. That game deserves a second chance
