7 Promised Sequels We'll Probably Never See

Dorkly: Seeing as how LulzSec recently ended their hacker crasher cruise, I thought I would be a good Samaritan and fill the lulz/asshole void. So allow me, dear readers, to be your troll for a day. Allow me to show you the way things are, as heartless and cruel as you like it. Here are seven promised videogame sequels that, as much as you might want them, will probably never come to be.

That’s right. Cry. Cry, and fuel my list of torment.

we will see HF2 - Episode 3, I think valve are just waiting to get some good tech on it.

the main game on that last of course is Shenmue 3, the one game I want to see but probably never will, soo sad :/

Yi-Long4669d ago (Edited 4669d ago )

... maybe not next year, or even in the next 5 years.... but some day.

The future is long. Sega is stupid but possibly not completely retarded. They know the 'popularity' of Shenmue has now already reached some kind of mythological proportions, even for people who only HEARD about the game but never played it.

Shenmue WILL be back.

Personally, I'd love to see a new Rallisport Challenge game, but it will never happen. Sadly.

Pozzle4669d ago

Yeah, I think Sega have mentioned in the past that they are aware of how much fans want to see another Shenmue, so it will probably end up happening...one day.

TurismoGTR4669d ago

All I wanna see is The Bouncer 2 or a Remake.. Something about that game felt like it had a chance of being a great franchise.

MrSpace4669d ago

Better tec...that's what I thought meaning I thought they would wait untill they've finished working on the Source engine 2 which was what they were waiting for but they said recently theres no plans for a Source engine 2 and that there going to keep improving the one they have now like they did with Portal 2

So if that's not the case Valve....please hurry up or give me a better excuse so I can be patient longer.

zeal0us4669d ago (Edited 4669d ago )

Too Human will probably be put off until the court case with Epic is settle down or until they finish developing an engine for the game.

As for Advent Rising2 its not happening

snake909024669d ago

Never say never, I really didn't expect to ever see Space Marine 2 and 12 years later its almost here.
So there is still hope for all these games.

Chocoburger73d ago

I've completed 5 of the games on the list, but the author forgot to include Advent Rising. It was supposed to be a trilogy, but it bombed hard, and the two sequels never got made. It was Mass Effect, a console generation before Mass Effect.

The game is buggy and unpolished, it needed a few more months of development, but the potential was there. At the end of the game, you have all these super abilities, I remember the stomp attack that created a shockwave being especially powerful.

shinoff218373d ago

I personally think days gone will recieve some sort of sequel at some point. I'm personally also hoping it's not the rumored multiplayer online stuff. I'd think most that enjoyed it would rather thisnto.

Knightofelemia73d ago

Sony needs to dust off Sly Cooper and Days Gone so needs a sequel two of my favorite Sony titles. Bulletstorm I love great game wish it also got a sequel. And I wish Namco would finally give Enslaved a sequel another great game.

Pretty sure Silk Song and Dragon Age are going smoothly. The other 2 can be assumed to be quietly cancelled knowing their publishers and Metroid will most likely be shown off this year.

Michiel1989101d ago

Dragon Age going smoothly??? Directors leaving, people leaving in general, terrible working conditions....not sure how you define smoothly.

VincentVanBro3d ago

lol Dragon Age development has been anything but smooth

I remember in 2017 when Nintendo showed off the Metroid Prime 4 logo, and some Nintendo defenders claimed "Just because they only showed a logo, doesn't mean that's all they've worked on for the game."

As history has proven, they were wrong. Nintendo showed off a logo back in 2017 because that's literally all they had.

I think Beyond Good and Evil 2 can stay there unless they are going to just rename it to a new IP

DOMination-101d ago

Pretty sure BG&E2 is dead at this point - along with the other game Ancel was working on before he left - I think it was called WILD. Anyone remember that from a PS conference years ago?

Dreadwolf isn't in development hell anymore and is finally getting its reveal in the summer - since 2016 the game has been scrapped and restarted three times but its been going pretty well since the last reboot when EA finally allowed BioWare to just get on with making a single player game.

I'm not sure Perfect Dark is in development hell either - like it could be but we haven't really heard much to suggest either way - imo they just showed the trailer off when the game was still in pre-production. Xbox were desperate for anything and this is all they had at the time. And the reason we haven't heard anything since is just because it's in normal development and games take 5 years to make. The help from a support studio was typically overblown on N4G because nearly every game has this.

Please, it's been years!
