If you keep in mind that the 3DS version is 3D then it's very good.

Warprincess1164692d ago

3D is a gimmick. It slows down the game and just ruins it. The ps2 version looks way better. What the point of buying the 3ds version. Worst graphics and it gone to be $40. I rather wait for the HD collection. At-least i get 3 games in 1 for $40.

El_Colombiano4692d ago

I enjoy 3D very much actually. Especially with Ocarina of Time. It's so well done.

Biggest4692d ago

So like. . . What happened to the 3DS having great graphics ability? Considering a PS2/MGS3 combo would cost around $110 right now, the 3DS is a bit overpriced for what it is offering in this case.

8bit_Nes_Rambo4692d ago

^^^ Resident Evil: Revelations

HardCover4692d ago

Biggest, you can't just compare the price tags like that.

Unless of course your PS2 is the size of a 3DS and can output similar 3D visuals.

Warprincess, I was going to reply to you until I looked up to see who I was replying to. Nevermind.

Biggest4692d ago

I think it's a fair comparison. I'm just talking about the game in question and the system it's played on. No, the PS2 is not the size of a 3DS. It can, however, be played on the move. The PS2 has been highly portable since early 2003 (I had one on deployment with me). The 3D effect of the 3DS is great for some and horrible for some. The usual conversation goes "I hate the 3D on the 3DS. It hurts my brain!" "Well, you CAN turn it off." "Then why buy a 3DS if not to use the 3D?" The usual retort for that is the games library. In this case, that is not a vaild response since you can play the same game, on the move, with a PS2. The point I am making is: The 3DS is too expensive for what it can do. The graphical fidelity of this game, and every other shown game, do not say $250 when the PS2 and PSP are $100 or less.

NeutralGamer4691d ago (Edited 4691d ago )

MGS 3DS also got some gameplay mechanics which the original don't have...

Namely the crouch feature from MGS 4 and Peace Walker... YES it is a big deal.

And then there is the biggest fact: You can have it in your pocket.

SHAZAM Argument invalid.

Been very hooked on Ocarina of Time 3DS. The game is actually pretty awesome in 3D. The visuals are very well done. Also why compare a handheld visuals to a console visuals?

HeavenlySnipes4692d ago

the PS2 is OOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLDDDDDDDD tech

Venoxn4g4692d ago

keep in mind that this is A PORT!!! and other thing, game uses different shaders so it looks different, but both look awesome

NeutralGamer4691d ago

Venox2008

Mind that they implented new gameplay tweaks from Peace Walker.

They implented the crouch feature which was introduced to MGS in MGS 4.

rexbolt4692d ago

hmm this guys slacking im sorry theres no exscuse for this

dragunrising4692d ago

I was thinking of an an excuse for worse graphics in the 3DS version but can't think of good one. Perhaps half the reason is shotty porting and the other (and more probable) a space issue with the size of the 3DS carts. Either way I find little reason to buy this version for $40 when I can get the HD upgraded three game compilation with trophies/achievements for the same price.

LOL. Comparing a 11 years old tech and 7 years old game to a current system.

PS2 still looks a lot better. XD

Why not buy the PS3/360 HD COllections? :)

NeutralGamer4691d ago

"Why not buy the PS3/360 HD COllections? :)"

If you own a 3DS why not get the 3DS version? It plays in 3DS, its portable, got some new features.

Alot of people here seems to think that MGS 3DS is suposed to be a system seller. It is not.

It is ment for people who have a 3DS already. Its not trying to go tell you buy a 3DS NOW SO YOU CAN REPLAY MGS 3!

When Collections was announced, the role of MGS 3DS changed from a system seller to a "great 3DS title"

WetN00dle694692d ago

Yep PS2 wins by a long shot BUT ill still probably buy it........lol
Didnt have a PS2 back in those days well i did but its a long story and it will only piss me off if i talk about it ANYWAYS yeah.

rexbolt4692d ago

i think mgs ppl slacked off on this one if u ask me i mean look what cap com and nintendos doing

maniac764692d ago

Its all good ,peeps will still buy it

Goeres4692d ago

Fuck me, picture 8 says it all. And I couldn't give 2 shits about 3D, I don't use it for either DoA or OoT since it gives me tired eyes, and I'm not alone with this issue =/

With this said, I'll still buy it since its not ALL about graphics and MGS3 one of the best games ever made!

Venoxn4g4692d ago (Edited 4692d ago )

play about a week in 3D from time to time and your eyes will get used to it... I had the same problem..now I can play for hours in 3D with no problems at all :)

..and yeah.. MGS 3 is one of the best games ever made + I'll buy it too :)

Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 to be temporarily removed from digital storefronts starting November 8

Konami will temporarily remove Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3 from digital storefronts starting November 8 as it works to renew the licenses for select historical archive footage used in each game, the company announced.

Orchard898d ago

To be honest, I’m surprised Konami are even considering re-listing this given how they’ve abandoned their franchises and fans.

Maybe temporarily will become permanently.

VersusDMC897d ago

They definitely won't relist the games on the pretty much dead platforms they were on. If they go through hassle of changing all the cutscenes it will be to release a PS/Xbox/Switch collection on current systems.

Eonjay897d ago (Edited 897d ago )

Out of curioisity, why isn't historical footage a part of the public domain?

VersusDMC897d ago

According to Google anything before 1924 and anything that wasn't copyrighted 5 years after being publised is fair game.

Maybe the historical footage used in the MGS games might have new copyright owners and they are knocking on the doors of whoever is using that footage for a paycheck.

Maybe that's what happened because of what happened with writers suing Movie studios for rights to old IP like terminator, Beetlejuice and Friday the 13th due to an old copyright law that grants authors rights to their work after 35 years. Maybe that's what happened to the copyright of the old footage as well?

Or they are just negotiating with the original copyright owners? Maybe this is a ploy to get it for cheaper? Bluff that they will just take the games down for a cheaper licence price?

Who knows...

jznrpg897d ago

If they didn’t have plans to rerelease them they would just say they aren’t coming back . They may not release them again if whoever owns the copyrights are greedy but it would seem they are putting some effort into it otherwise they would say buy it now or else that would make them more $ now . I could be wrong but that makes sense to me .

TheEnigma313898d ago

This is exactly why i love physical media

Orchard898d ago (Edited 898d ago )

Well, in this case, describing it as a digital vs physical problem may not be too accurate.

If you already purchased it digitally, you'll still be able to download it and play any time - and if I want to go buy it digitally, I still can today, whereas I probably can't find a physical copy of it in Walmart or wherever.

blackblades898d ago

True as long as you bought something before it get delisted you'll still be able to play them. All the physical vs digital is nonesense now and getting old. You get screwed from both at the end of the day if everything goes down. Physical will have all the bugs because they need the 1st day patches and then some. About most dlc needs downloading so you screwed outta complete edition. I still dont see Sony or MS going anywhere in the next 100 years.

MadLad898d ago

People on here find literally every excuse they can to state just how much better and future proof physical games are over digital.

Funny, being I can play every single one of my almost 1000 steam games with no issue. And, even when the store eventually shutters, they have systems in place I can still back up all my games.

What am I supposed to do when my console, and even the discs it runs, break down? I mean, I can rebuy them, but that just means I had to pay twice for a game, and probably now at collector prices. Doesn't sound very future proof to me.

blackblades897d ago

@TheRealTedCruz
That already happened to me on ps2. My stuff got stolen, I had to rebuy some of the games with allowances. Some games were nich I couldnt find them again.

BISHOP-BRASIL897d ago

@blackblades

We don't even need to loose the games in anyway for physical media reliability to be put to test, disc rot is a thing.

IamFrasierCrane897d ago

This doesn’t affect anyone who has already purchased the game digitally.

GhostofHorizon897d ago (Edited 897d ago )

Just started MGS 3 over the weekend.
Wouldn't have affected me since I bought the collection a long time ago.

I'm more interested in the fact that they have to re-license historical footage constantly. At what point is it not worth it anymore? I can't imagine a lot of people are buying MGS Collection.

isarai897d ago

Dat all digital future 👌

Sephiroushin897d ago

What? You got it you can still play it just like if you got a physical copy of the game ...

FanboysKiller897d ago

How to get engaged with 2s story ? , can't get through the ship without quiting the game literally since forever.

Metal Gear Solid 3 Remastered for Pachinko? WTF KONAMI!

Metal Gear Solid 3 is one of the greatest games of all time, and Konami is giving it a remaster with the FOX Engine! Sort of....with Pachinko. RGT 85 isn't too pleased with this decision!

I still can't believe Konami is doing all this. It's like they're intentionally trolling us at this point.

Dabigkahuna762881d ago

You don't have to buy it every game is not meant for you just maybe I'm just saying They may not be targeting you so relax bruh

-Foxtrot2881d ago

Buy it? You do know what a Pachinko machine is...right?

Dabigkahuna762881d ago (Edited 2881d ago )

@fox I don't care what it is I'm not the target for whatever it is so I can give 2 fukcs about it

Sunny_D2881d ago (Edited 2881d ago )

What a dumbass comment. Why bother commenting in the article when you didn't even make an effort or care to make effort to find out what the article is about. You're just another headline reader, aren't you? Jesus

Ben Dover2881d ago

@Dabigkahuna76

Perhaps it's a wise thing to NOT post at all then if you're not contributing / bothering to read the article.

TheCommentator2881d ago

Yeah, Konami is taking a gamble with one of it's best franchises. ;P

_-EDMIX-_2881d ago (Edited 2881d ago )

Are they? The reality is those pachinko machines are probably going to give them a greater return then the actual Metal Gear Solid games consider they're probably not spending 100 million or more on such the game

garrettbobbyferguson2881d ago (Edited 2881d ago )

I don't believe it's a remaster. Pachinko machines just have scripted cut scenes typically. You win and you see a next cut scene. You lose and you lose. In this case they probably had some animation studio model these cutscenes for their new machine.

OoglyBoogly2881d ago

It looks so beautiful too...not that the original MGS3 looks bad (seriously go emulate that shit it's still a damn good looking game) but these remastered parts look phenomenal!

ScubaSteve12881d ago (Edited 2881d ago )

like an arcade game i guess

sdlxxx12881d ago

Remember plinko on the price is right? Like that.

Deadpooled2881d ago

classic show, wonder which was better, the american version or the british version with sir bruce forsyth?

bloop2881d ago

You can't beat a Brucie bonus.

bouzebbal2881d ago

It's a hybrid arcade money machine.. It's for casinos

Artemidorus2881d ago

They are testing to see how angry fans are then offer It on consoles.

I am done with Konami for the way they have behaved.

Why are we Gamers? The Uniqueness of Video Games

Dom from TVG gives his view on Why are we gamers, he writes " Here comes a cliché saying but I have been a fan of video games since I was a child, but then again isn’t that how all lifelong interests and hobbies start? With the enthusiasm associated with a child?"

I'm a gamer because I like video games. Been playing them since Pong and the 2600. with each new system comes new game experiences. I can't not play them as I always find a way to get the system and its games into my collection. It's expensive but nobody said a hobby like this is cheap.

I like how there are different types of games that test the limits of ones own personal abilities to problem solve, dexterity with eye / hand coordination and reaction times. Puzzle games to platformers to shmups to racing... I play them all. No matter the platform.

Kingthrash3602937d ago (Edited 2937d ago )

We are gamers because we are f***ING awsome that's why! We like to be in control of our entertainment and are more passionate about our hobby than most. Take NFL fans...like hardcore fans dressing up like the team mascots with painted faces and no shirt in 20 degree weather...you'd think that would be hard to top....until you think about grown men/woman dressed as cloud flying around THE WORLD to get a >>preview<< of games...a preview though. We don't sleep and call out of work for games....we talk very complicated talk about specs that normal humans wouldn't come close to comprehending..and forget a state...forget a country. ...WE ARE WORLD WIDE all shapes and sizes...all races from different walks of life...we are GAMERS.

2pacalypsenow2937d ago

Why do we watch tv? Why do we play sports? Because they are a fun hobby

specialguest2937d ago (Edited 2937d ago )

I don't know what i am anymore. I follow gaming news, videos, and culture on a daily basis, but i rarely play games except the occasional SF5 matches online. There are other life interest that has kepts me very busy and occupied, but i still have this deep interest in gaming. I've been gaming since the atari 7800 and up until this current gen, i gradually slowed down to almost completely stopped.

GNCFLYER2937d ago

Special guest I've gone through phases when I thought I was done only to get sucked back in. PS4 sucked me back in hard. Played a lot of games this gen with UC4 being next.

Darth, pong and atari 2600 was also my first game and system, been at it ever since. Defender, river raid, pitfall, kaboom, yard revenge, space invders, and centipede kept me going strong on that system. Then duck hunt and nintendo, it just escalated with ps1 and here I am today.

darthv722937d ago

Hell, I still find myself playing games from generations past. Can't ever stop playing Strider on Genesis or Jumping Flash on PS1. Lately I have been enjoying games I never played on the TG16 / PCE thanks to the everdrive.

MachuchalBrotha3162937d ago

That my 1st LOVE right there, first console I ever owned. Love you SEGA!
