IGN 3DS Review: Blazblue: Continuum Shift II

BlazBlue: Continuum Shift II is a very Japanese fighting game. This doesn't faze me anymore due to my long exposure to and infatuation with Japanese pop culture, but I imagine Lolita vampires, squirrel girls, and calling rounds "rebels" would confuse the average gamer. Even if you don't dig its style, the BlazBlue series has built a diverse cast of characters and rocks an engaging, complex fighting system... normally. This 3DS port has some serious issues.

I've read that Continuum Shift 2 Plus will be launch tittle for Vita. I really enjoy this series, got both games on ps3

You got to be looking at this from a whole other different perspective on this one. Those graphic magic is x 5 w/ 3d.

This would have made sense if the Tekken for the 3DS WASN'T running 60FPS on 3D mode. I blame the devs, not the hardware.

the tekken for 3ds its based on which tekken?

Why is the PSP version scored higher ?

They're both the same, how could they possibly screw up the 3DS version ?
This all sounds like the devs didn't do a proper port conversion to the 3DS and didn't work out the kinks.
I just find it strange how the 3DS gets a lesser version compared to another handheld that got released nearly 6-7 years ago.

I think it has to do with the familarity of the hardware, new hardware can be hard to use to some developers, but honestly it sounded like a lazy port job to be honest, when we have 2 fighting games that run and look better, and i asume u mean dead or alive, and both the fighting games process at 60 fps in 3d mode, but it doesnt look like it because it is show 30 fps to each eye, so 30 (frames to each eye) x 2 (eyes)= 60 fps if they had the fps at anything less it would look extremely choppy

To sum up what differentiated the two based on the IGN review:

- Slowdown on 3DS. Frame issues
- Multiplayer is messed up on 3DS
- 3D effects are uninteressting
- Control system works better on PSP

So it's a shoddy port, and to be honest fighter games do tend to be a little better on PSP, maybe just because of the software line-up or because the controls fit better on the PSP. Now, I've never tried a fighting game on a 3DS, so obviously I shouldn't really even be writing this comment, but probably this is the developers fault and isn't because of the 3DS being bad or anything, but maybe because the 3DS is new. New console - less experience with it. Right?

I wanted to get Blazblue: CSE but it's a 3GB download for Vita! New memory card already maxed out :(

Yeah. Had to sacrifice it for Mortal Kombat. I'll redownload it after I'm done with Jet Set Radio.

RedHawk023786d ago

God I hated that game. Luckily I got it for free with Plus because I honestly would have been pissed if I bought it. I did not like it one bit.
