What's worst, COD fanboys or COD haters?

Gamers despise COD fanboys almost as much if not more than console fanboys. I know I can't personally stand hearing someone utter that oh so provoking phrase, "It looks just like Call of Duty". However I am starting to notice that anti COD gamers can be just as annoying as the actual COD fanboys. Here are a few examples.

Yesterday I decided to get back into Killzone 2 because a few of my friends wanted to party up. Personally, it takes me a while to hop back into any online game. Killzone 2 is special because I always have to adapt to the controls every time I play. One of my friends was in a clan and he became frustrated when we started to lose in warzone. He told me over the Mic, "Go back to Call of Duty". That is pretty simple statement but alot of depth behind it simply because I hear it said to people quite often. When somone isn't as good as you in any online game. When someone isn't really good at all in a certain online multiplayer game; It does not mean they play too much call of duty. There are some famous examples of course such as my experiences with Killzone 3 and Crysis 2, but not everyone who struggles at any
point during any online match plays too much Call of Duty. That is a very ignorant statement.

More recently, over the past few days I looked at just about every article on N4G relating to MW3. I didn't even bother looking at the article as my eyes went straight towards the comments and with predictable results. Anyone supporting call of duty got several disagrees. Anyone bashing Call of Duty got several agrees. Seriously, fanboys are extremely annoying but not everybody who likes and plays call of duty is a fanboy.Honestly, Battlefield fanboys are making a rise when it comes to fanboys. In the articles I see relating to call of duty, the people posting remarks such as BF3>MW3 or any other kind of diss are always there in packs.

One of the biggest things we gamers hate about call of duty fanboys is when they bash other shooters for either being too similar to call of duty or being too different from call of
duty. But when we have anti call of duty gamers bashing anyone who likes Call of Duty does that really make them any better? When people assume that anyone isn't that good in a certain game because they play too much call of duty does that make it any better?

We gamers can purchase and play whatever we want. Sure there are better games out there. Sure there are beautiful worlds to explore, innovation to expand, and fun to be had; But at the end of the day, it is just a matter of opinion and opinions clash as false factual information when these pointless debates begin.

Good blog. This happens on Gametrailers. Any sort of hint made toward COD the video get rated lower. It has got to the point the produces openly make fun of this occurrence. It irritates me when in COD articles someone pops in to say not as good as BF3. Its like so. Its irrelevant. I am finding the COD lovers are becoming a minority because it is cool to hate COD and Activision as it was cool to love COD back when COD 4 was released. I think it is the most ridiculous fanboy war. It is even worse than the "console war". I personally do not know which (MW3 or BF3) if any I will get.
It doesn't stop at the fans. The companies are at it to. I have lost a great deal of respect for EA for sinking this low. Some of the stuff they have come out with has been just childish. Activision is no better but I feel EA have been the worst in this so called "war"

COD haters are easily the most annoying. Most of the tome the COD haters are battlefield fanboys trolling. Battlefield and call of duty have different play styles. They both take a different type of skill to play the game.

If CoD had innovated along the way I would have not become a CoD hater. The yearly whoring of a CoD title has become cliche as a cash in on a popular title. Has CoD really progressed or has it recycled similar content on a yearly basis to exploit it's popularity.

I am extremely hopeful that that Battlefield 3 brings something new to the table and gives me something to get excited about. So far BF3 has had very positive buzz, and I hope that it will deliver.

As for CoD haters versus fanboys, it's like everything else. Those who love it will love and those who hate will hate it. Play what you want, but if you just want CoD and nothing else you are limiting yourself and refusing to expand yourself to huge world of gaming that is available to you.

Much needed blog imo. Personally, I see the COD hate as a personification of how stagnant the FPS genre has become. Since CoD's the poster child of the FPS' genre, it receives the most hate.

I'm not saying FPS can't do anything new, I'm only saying hardly any of the recent FPS releases have brought that next innovation. The ones doing better in innovation imo are RPGs, TPS, and yes even motion-based games. I believe the last major innovation to FPS's was CoD4 (although Halo's done some brilliant things co-op wise).

Why? They're the reason that so many games this generation suck and copy cats of each other. It's their fault for religiously buying Call of duty each year to the point where other developers toss aside innovation and instead focus on trying to make a "COD CLONE" to try and capture the market that over purchased the newest Call of Duty game.

It also doesn't help that they gobble up every 15 dollar map pack that comes out. Hence the reason that suddenly map packs are so bloody expensive. Would you believe that map packs used to be free on many games?

I'm fine with CoD haters if they have an issue with the state of the current FPS market in general.
There's way too many military shooters and most of them aren't that innovative.

It's the ones that bash CoD then go on to praise another generic military-shooter that puzzle me.

I've seen comments about CoD being generic and how Battlefield3 is awesome, yet the only thing new I've seen in BF3's previews are fatal destruction debris. Other then that, it's the same ole shooter we're used to, and EA appears to be just as money-hungry as Activision.

Just curious as to know why you think the people behind B3 appear to be money hungry?

It just seems to me that they want to compete and making their version of "Cod Elite" free seems to back that up.

I dont believe battlefield is just another generic military shooter either. I would call the new medal of Honor generic, Socom 4, and I would go as far as calling Killzone 3 generic.

I don't like the fact that even though COD has made MILLIONS for activision they still dont seem to take the time to innovate more and more in their game. Adding zombies to BLOPS from World at War is not innovation.

It seems to me that Dice and EA have worked very hard on B3, as a technical masterpiece and gameplay wise.

It might be a well polished game, but I haven't seen any innovation.

As for being money hungry, the recent announcement of 'exclusive' retailer-specific pre-order bonuses kind of irked me.
Promoting pre-orders is fine, but giving items that can impact the balance of the game to a select few is not cool.
Especially when pre-orders already comes with the 'BackToKarakand' expansion.
(The expansion is actually quite generous on their part, I'll give them that.)

Also, speaking from the PC side, EA seems to be snuffing out it's Digital-Distribution competitors with its own Origin platform. The expansion pack seems to be only available from Origin (if you're buying a digital version that is), so if I pre-ordered from Direct2Drive, I wouldn't get the expansion (BF3 hasn't shown up on steam yet either)
I suppose it makes sense from a business standpoint since they want more people buying directly from them, but it also limits my choices when buying digital.

As far as I know, CoD has never introduced in-game exclusive items that couldn't be unlocked by everyone. CoD also has never limited my decision on where to buy the game from to the same extent that EA is going.

CoD Elite, from what I've seen, isn't completely subscription-based. It has a few free features and some more membership quirks. I don't support the Elite membership, and it isn't something I'm going to buy.
... but I also don't like what EA is doing.

So it's wrong to hate a game because most of us aren't mindless zombies who buy the same crap every year just because it's the current "trend" with our own social groups.

Then I must be a COD hater then...that and because you have a game like Uncharted where NaughtyDog work their arses off to make the best game they possibly can while the developers who work on Call of Duty just tweak a few things here and there and call it a day. In the end COD get's a ton of sales while an amazing game worked hard on my amazing developers get left in the dust.

Like someone said above. I don't think its exactly COD hating.

Most good games out there don't even come close to the amount of money that COD generates. The quality has been significantly poorer each year. The only title that beats COD, is the one that follows it (sales wise). That is a bit saddening.

I get the idea of BF3 caters to some, and COD does the same. I just dislike how people enjoy being taken for a ride.

That's the problem with most online shooters I have, it's just too likely you'll run into some jackass saying "Go back to Call of Duty". or something worse than that usually. It's just too hard for most people to get established into quality clans with good people - which seems to be the only way currently to prevent that kind of behavior.

Here's the deal... The CoD haters are the minority. They are few and sad and must post their anguish on forums.

In their hate filled rage they will consistently spout that CoD is the same game every year and be puzzled as to why it always sells. Which makes me think that one, they never played a CoD game or two they really suck at CoD.

CoD haters will also constantly state that it doesnt deserve the billion million dollars its getting and that money should be spent on some other said game that that hater personally likes.

I bet if Battlefield 3 wasnt coming out or if it was replaced with another generic modern war fps game all the haters would praise that game just to spite CoD.

I guess what im saying is its kind of hard to hate on something thats being played by virtually everyone who has a console. i suggest people stop the hate and congratulate then move on.
