Eurogamer: "While Nintendo seems to have persuaded a number of third party developers to bring their titles over to the Wii U next year, it seems FPS veterans id Software won't be among them.
Speaking to Eurogamer backstage at E3 today, the Rage studio's creative director Tim Willits expressed doubt that they'll be a big enough audience for a core shooter on Nintendo's new system.
"The Nintendo market is a tough market for us to get into," he explained. "A lot of first party games, a lot of licensed games – those are the ones that have done the best on that platform. I'd love it if we can get a hardcore FPS community going and build on it, but it's tough."
"Quake II is a masterpiece; an enduring first-person shooter that shows iD Software at their technical and artistic best."

The story of John Romero, John Carmack, Adrian Carmack, Tom Hall, Jay Wilbur and their legendary company id Software. From Commander Keen to Wolfenstein 3D, from Doom to Quake, they invented the 3D first-person shooter genre, and they transformed PC gaming into a multi-million dollars business.
BLG writes, "Plug in your electric guitars and start shredding; we’re making a list of the DOOM games ranked.
Trying to decide the best DOOM game is like deciding who your favorite child is. You love every one of them, imperfections and all."
Everyone should be cautious of Wii U development.
It's a gimmick. And no, I didn't think the Wiimote was a gimmick. I love the Wii. Having a screen (one per console) controller is a gimmick that serves very little gameplay purpose. At best, we will get minor integration in multiplat games like Kinect in Mass Effect 3.
Pay attention: most of the "awesome multiplats" on Wii U are simply ports of games coming out this year including Battlefield 3 and Arkham City. Anyone else notice that? Wii U is launching with sloppy seconds. Noooot a good way to start things off.
This article is loaded with half-truths. The REAL problem is that ID Software spent the last 5 years PUBLICLY ripping the Wii to shreds and have burned bridges with Nintendo.
Its a gimmick all the way to the bank.
I can't wait to get that new Zelda gimmick that runs 1080p@60fps on a 25 gig disk. I will also miss needing to pause zelda 100000 times to see the map screen when I can have it live on my new gimmick controller.
iD will come once devs like Ubisoft and EA show that nintendo fans also enjoy some FPS action. Just not crap like generic COD
Good for you ID. Now release Doom 4 or give me death.
