Thoughts On The Inevitable Release of Modern Warfare 3

So a recently released photo of a big number 3 has been featured in the Official Playstation Magazine UK with the caption, "The biggest game in the world returns". Now this all but confirms that the release of Modern Warfare 3 is immanent, but the question is; will we be seeing more of the same or will the series be ready to take another strong leap forward? More after the break.

My thoughts? I done with COD. Nothing new every year. Too generic.

Danielmccue4729d ago

I'm sorry but everyone i know who plays COD said that after MW2 yet they still bought black ops, They're saying it again now and yet i 100 percent guarantee you they will buy MW3.

Along with millions of other people.

TOO PAWNED4729d ago

my thoughts, day 1 for me. Don't care about any other MP

captain-obvious4729d ago (Edited 4729d ago )

my response to this article is

i cant wait tell Friday
i mean im dying to see some starhawk

now THATS a game ppl should be looking out for

and yah F COD

Stealth20k4729d ago

just because millions buy it doesnt mean the game is good.

Its called sheep syndrome

BeastlyRig4729d ago (Edited 4729d ago )

I play cod but I didn't buy it...
BF3 I pre purchased!

After mw2 i really am done! but on console you have to buy it! It's in the rule books! The buggiest game of the year out sold everything!

NatureOfLogic4729d ago

I will buy COD because I like playing COD, I can care less about what my friends think about COD.

Fil1014729d ago

well i aint gonna lie, i've done my fair share ov moaning when it comes to cod but I know i'll go and buy mw3 and at the same time i'll adit it unlike some people on this site.

Joni-Ice4729d ago

Well I didn't buy Black Ops. In fact what made me be a little more sceptical was Medal of Honor. I bought that game and it wasn't what I thought. So since Medal of Honor, I will be a little more aware of buying games.

Xenial4729d ago

You know, that's somewhat true on my behalf. Atleast cod games have a good re-sell value at Gamestop. :P

lareka4729d ago

Exactly my thoughts !
And as Caleb_141 points out, BF3 is gonna be released at the same time with COD.

Caleb_1414729d ago

I think now that BF3 is releasing at the same time (MW3's bound to get released in November) people aren't going to simply pick it up just because there's nothing else good being released then. There are so many great games being released then that I know I won't find any reason to pick up the game, not that I would if there wasn't anyway.

Oschino19074729d ago (Edited 4729d ago )

Exactly, more then enough to keep many playing without even lookng at MW3. I and many of my friends gave up after MW2 and didnt even consider Black Ops, the ones who did get it either just bitch and moan 24/7 about it or are too bad a online games to even realize how bad and screwed up the game is. Only thing that could make me look at MW3 would be New game engine, Less overall skills/abilities and killlstreaks, Less over the top token weapons that would never be used in real life, Just overall back to the more realistic somewhat factual storylnes that made you actually feel something. Tired of being super soldiers in every game with crazy unreal weapons and skills, the game is for 18 and under now, stop giving it a M rating if thats the case.

Caleb_1414729d ago

YES! If they took it back to COD4 with the 3 simple killstreaks and new down-to-earth maps with more weapons I would buy it in a heartbeat. They built up a really good story with COD4 then they just completely butchered it for MW2, that was one of the biggest disappointments for me imo.

NBT914729d ago

Awesome stuff. Even if you dont buy it, it is nice as an additional option at least. I will be occupied just with Twisted Metal and Uncharted 3 but if I fancy a generic team deathmatch FPS, at least the option is there.

Reborn4729d ago

This year, I think given the amount of titles surrounding its release, it could cut into MW3 success. (Highly unlikely though)

wallis4729d ago

Kotick fucked this franchise so hard it flinches every time he looks at it. If Cod was a family he'd be fritzel and that leaves this game, the eighth in the franchise, with a very bad prognosis.

Call of Duty Players Disappointed by $80 B.E.A.S.T. Glove Bundle Deal

Recently, players of Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone were met with a new bundle featuring the B.E.A.S.T. Glove, inspired by King Kong's armament in the Godzilla x Kong movie. However, the $80 price tag attached to this themed accessory left many Call of Duty fans feeling underwhelmed.

Morons that allow themselves to be milked continuously by this company is the definition of irony.
Spend more $$ and you'll end up In easier lobbies so you win both ways when ya spend that cash

Controversy in the COD community feels like it happens within an alternate timeline. Activision will take the piss with something, there will be a momentary fuss about it, and then they will forget about it and carry on anyway. Repeat this cycle literally every year for the rest of time.

Gridknac7d ago

They call that a crack head! Thats what this is really about, its an addiction. People who dont smoke cigarettes look and laugh at the addicts that spend $8-$10 a pack, but they cant help themselves, they are addicted. That same analogy applies perfectly to the whole MT industry. Only an addict that was not thinking clearly would spend this kind of money on something so frivolous. A round of multiplayer provides the same high a person gets from scratching a lotto ticket, or putting money on a sports bet. MT in general need to really be regulated because you have a generation of kids becoming adults who grew up only knowing the MT era of gaming. Its normal to them and they will in turn teach their kids the same by just being a gaming parent and getting their kids involved with them in gaming. Thats why no matter how ridiculous the headlines keep getting out of the MT industry, it never seems to fade or go away.

X-236d ago

I'm so tired of hearing about what they're doing with this game, its never going to change and it's never going to value the consumer over money, furthermore the people who engage so heavily in the microtransactions I guess allegedly are having a blast and can't wait to do it some more this year when the new version of the game drops.

Cheech And Chong Are Coming To Call Of Duty Because Everything Must Be Consumed

The famous comedy duo is the latest example of pop culture becoming one big grey blob

Christopher22d ago

Certain to have some sort of reference to their online store for CBD/THC chews, which is advertising heavily online the last month or two.

Sciurus_vulgaris22d ago

The randomness of the multiplayer characters is one of reason I quit playing COD after briefly returning in 2022. We got Space Marines, rappers, tree monsters etc. all in a series called “ Modern Warfare”.

OtterX21d ago (Edited 21d ago )

I think if there was ever a time for a competitor to rise up and take away some of Call of Duty's thunder, the time would be now. A military shooter that takes itself seriously, not sold out to Fortnitism. Easier said than done, I know... but the time is ripe.

I can't stand this stuff either.

Palitera21d ago

There are tons of MP shooters that make no profit, if you're looking for one of those

fsfsxii21d ago

You guys have been saying this shit since 2009. Fortunately, nobody’s bringing down cod anytime soon, if ever.

crazyCoconuts21d ago

I agree. I really didn't like how the silliness takes away the gritty origins. That and all the crazy effects... dunno. I'm still playing it but I'd love for someone to steal their cheese and cater to grittier players

OtterX21d ago

@fsfsxii It's not so much wanting COD itself to die as it is wanting this silliness to die. Like CrazyCoconuts said, it takes from the grittiness. Many OG COD players want a straightup Military shooter experience, not silly costume time at Carnival.

Profchaos21d ago

is this what the kids want these days a pair of iconic stoners who were big in the 70s and have kind of held on I enjoyed their movies decades ago but I never recall the movie where cheech infiltrates a enemy base while chong snipes for support guess I must of missed that one

Man I'm getting to old for this

Knightofelemia21d ago (Edited 21d ago )

Cheech just looks so wrong in the picture.

Profchaos21d ago

Why just why. cod up in smoke

anast21d ago

They charge too much for a game that is kitsch.

MW3 missed its easiest opportunity to give us some of the best Call of Duty maps ever made

From Bootleg to Black Box, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 made a heartbreaking mistake by not remastering the bizarrely forgotten maps from its namesake.
