The Super Entertainment System, is something of a icon of the gaming world. A true 16 bit Japanese gem, that we all know, and somewhat love. Featuring a whole host of brilliant games for every genre, the SNES has something for everyone. The SNES has some of the best games of the time released on it, if not the majority. Many of this top 10 can be considered the best games of all time – but that’s a whole never story.

Ilusion of gaia was one of the best snes games. It was my first rpg and it was an amazing game. Great story and fun gameplay. I would add donkey kong country and killer instinct.

Only thing I would change is the Final Fantasy game. I thought FF6 was the better game in the SNES era. The way they did the Esper system, the story, the fact that you weren't forced to have a certain person in your party, and the amount of characters in the game (with each having a story that made them important to the main story in some way), and one of the more talked about antagonists in FF history (other than Septhiroth), made it a classic.

I get that FF4 introduced many of the mechanics into the franchise that we have come to know and love, and it IS an AWESOME game, but I thought FF6 topped it.

This should be a top 20 list for titles like Earthbound, Yoshi's Island, Super Castlevania 4, Donkey Kong Country, Zombies Ate My Neighbours, etc. Easily one of the best consoles of all time.

An interesting list....

Secret of Evermore is not as good as Secret of Mana, but it is a game deserving of some more attention.

Illusions of Gaia mentioned above is another interesting title that does not get enough retro-press.

holy frick!!! so its called Secret of Evermore!!

I've been trying to remember what that games was forever,all i could remember of it, was there was a guy & a dog. i died all the time too, never did beat it. i always rented it though. died on the same spot each time too.
maybe now that i'm older, maybe I can beat it.
