Sorry macky, any true BF fan plays for MP gameplay. Graphics are just bonus. Precision bombing on enemy armor using an F-15E with the rest of your squad 20 feet away waiting to cap the flag. THAT is what it's all about. The fact that BF3 will even have a campaign at all is gravy on my bacon cheesburger cake.

Soundtrack? You're fighting in the midst of a war. The battle is your soundtrack! When playing online, sound is VERY important in BF (to hear sniper rounds passing by, approaching tanks, etc.). Music would just distract you and get you killed.

not to rain on your parade, but no matter how high the standards on a building are, that 50. cal is gonna destroy that building. it would make more sense if you got to shoot a 50 .cal at a scrapped L.M.T.V (light military transport vehicle) yourself.

As amazing as this is, and coming from a visual addict like me it's looking amazing. I'd love to see a console example. You can make anything look good when you have unlimited power (ala a 3k pc rig) but how they optimize resources using their new engine and on limited hardware such as consoles and still manage to blow our minds will be a real treat in my opinion.

My guess is it'll look real good on consoles. It will just be less than native 720P to make it happen (and likely won't have the extra-large map variants).

I'll be tempted to buy both. The PC version so I can have the big maps and extra player count, and the console version to play with my buddies (most of them only game on consoles).

You won't need a 3k PC to run this. By the time BF3 hits, a mid range PC should be capable of maxing it out. That's a 500 quid machine. It's already known that this demo is being run on a single GTX 580. I dare say that a 560ti will get similar results seen in this demo.

For Pc users the optimization of code to run on systems has come down to video card optimization, us pc users have not seen a cpu limited game in ages.

whats good about that is the fact the gpu manufacturers Nvidia Ati (intel sucks) have been releasing more and more supportive systems to help take advantage of the gpu in a few languages.
OpenCL(ATI)
CUDA(Nvidia)
Physx(Nvidia)
Stream(ATI)
and dx11 pipelines.
although the hardware is different, the SDKs are very supportive and heading in the same direction.

all of this means the pc is becoming a much easier platform to optimize your code to get 100 percent of the performance available. making it easier to game on a low-midrange pc

I wouldn't be so sure if that was PC footage.

Most of Frostbite 3 runs a deferred renderer (on the CPU, this includes the lightning system - see http://publications.dice.se... In some respects, some parts beat the i7 in the PS3 version (e.g. culling)).

I also think, the res in that video is not too high - maybe intentionally to give it a softer look. It will look awesome on a PC, but I am sure the console version(s?) won't be far behind if at all. The lightning is what makes this game outstanding.

IMHO scripted is good, advances the story with drama, action, etc. E.g. the COD formula (played the hell out of the sniper mission in COD4).

I didn't really enjoy BC2 single player because it was too....open?

We'll leave the open sandbox business to the multiplayer.

As they've said in interviews before, the single player game is more of a training wheel exercise for the multiplayer where the big boys play.

Not as EPIC as the first trailer but this one showed a lot more physics. The sniper putting holes or busting up everything was nice. The Physics of the Bazooka when the guy rolled it was good. character animation is like the best ever as so many parts look REAL. great lighting effects except i saw no sniper flash, maybe i'm blind or missed it. Battlefield 3 puts everything to shame.

Oh so much physics and not a word about Nvidia Physx....Take that Green Team! (although Gigabyte SOC 560 GTX SLI is in my future)
