" Based from pre-alpha software " says it all. If this is going to be the way the console version looks ( wishful thinking ) then I will be impressed...otherwise, it's just a tech demo running on some rig no one will be able to afford...still...

The lighting and smoke is phenomenal tho. The dog in the alley, the sun rays and the muted color palette ( the new norm ) all look fantastic and add to the realism. Some choppiness to the NPC's as they scurry about and not the best facial animation but who looks at that anyways in these types of game.

Dice/EA/Frostbite 2 has made the first move in it's Battle royale with Sledgehammer/infinity ward/Activision/iD...I can't wait to see what Modern Warfare 3 looks like. Modern Warfare game play footage will be on consoles, there is no doubt about that.

I like FPS's but this year there are some great TPS's releasing...hopefully these two will be released...this IS console footage...pre-alpha as well from a year ago...

The pc to console separation is becoming very clear. I dont mean that some games are just better because its on pc vs consoles but what pc devs are now bringing to the table.

it looks phenomenal in terms of the lighting, and polygons, but I have to disagree about the animation. Doesn't look to be mocapped except for the running. The map scene as an example.

Ya, you can tell it's a PC clip when there is the one scene where he is dragging his guy to safety: you can see the WASD keys on the screen. So glad I have a rig to play this thing because it is going to rock.

Here is the funny part. BF3 looks better than KZ3 AND the game has almost full destruction. Something KZ2/3 does not have...ALSO BF3 uses all of its lighting (HDR/Global Illumination etc) or most of it in REAL TIME. Another thing KZ2/3 does not do.
This game engine is far beyond what most game engines are doing now...and it looks THIS GOOD.
This game is a generation ahead of KZ3, Gears of War, COD, and the rest as of now.
Yes we know you LOVE KZ2/3 but please ease up on the nut hugging of the game when comparing it to this one. Honestly, there is no comparing KZ3 to BF3...It's not even close.

Looks almost real, and more impressively, it sounds real. The sound is equally impressive to the visuals, if not more so, and that is a rare thing in games to notice that. DICE have no peer when it comes to sound design.

The lighting is also second to none, and they've nailed the smooth transitions in the animations. It looks like the troops have footplanting as they shift their body weight to the side to change directions. No more gliding animation which breaks the illusion of reality and just makes the game look like...well...a game. Now it looks authentic.

Only gripe I have with the footage is that the gun should probably roll and pivot about a bit more when walking and running. BC2 has it almost perfect, and I hope they rectify that for the final build, but seeing that this is Alpha code, I can see that happening.

This footage is pre-Alpha build, yet it blows the doors and hinges off anything else out there. Makes everything else seem plastic in comparison.

CryTek, I hope selling your soul to the consoles will be worth it. You could have at least given us this much good of default ToD/Lighting (so far it's sub par compared to mods.. and to think they would have at least learnt by now)

Well they did say PC was their lead platform. So we'll most likely only be seeing the PC version until summer. That's my guess.

I'm glad to see this happening though. Complete the game fully on PC first, THEN port it to consoles.

Maybe this'll even be the first ever multiplat to take advantage of the PS3's hardware. Only time will tell.
