Atlus May Be Teasing A Catherine Localization

Last August, Atlus's Japanese branch announced their first HD title, Catherine, which was released earlier this month in Japan. The company's North American branch has remained tight-lipped about any localization plans, however. This might be changing with a new teaser e-mail just sent out.

I wish those who disagreed with your coment would show themselves. It's true, the cutscenes and story are the best parts, the gameplay is straight up generic puzzler with a Japanese twist; not necessarily all that impressive, really.

well usually the a demo tends to be a bad representation of the final game. so its hard to base how fun or great a game is just on that alone. demos should showcase the best most engaging parts of the game but that tends to not be that case. ive played countless lackluster demos only to find out that the game was the exact opposite from what i had played. most recently, yakuza 4. im getting the game regardless but that demo was extremely weak compared to what the game will be like.

With all the coverage and interest it has recieved in the West, I'd be surprised if they DIDN'T release it here, tbh.

i love unique, interesting, unconventional games so catherine definitely looks like something id wanna pick up. hopefully they release some news on the matter soon.

I was interested in the game the day it was announced but lacking that RPG element I was wondering if the gameplay would be that great. After playing the demo I actually think it's pretty great, totally different and feels fresh. I really hope this does come out here cause I have no plans in learning Japanese anytime soon.

Atlus is notorious for saying they have "no plans" before they actually reveal a game.

Plus for the most part, save Trauma Team (since the game sells better in the West than in Japan, IIRC), they never reveal localizations till a little while after the Japanese release.

I love niche games like this one. Deadly Premonition was a favorite of mine last year. I prefer a good English dub over subs, but hey, I will take whatever I can get in a case like this. Bring Catherine over Atlus, however you can and whatever is more cost effective!

I just found this in my email. The first thing I thought of was Catherine because of the bright pink and the "Do you still like us?" as a reference to people going ballistic at the "no plans" comment.
