This commercial seems like the PS3 commercials of old like creepy babies, ect. This shows off nothing for the PS3. Now if he had phased in Move controllers for some of the scenes (like the kid with the Sword) and made it into a sword again then that'd be something. Or when the girl jumped over the laser beam to sneak out, at the top or bottom of the screen he should have had a few button commands pop up. Something to tie it into the PS3, not just one turning on at the end.

I agree... they should try to appeal to the older crowd, not teh sub 10 year olds.

i suspect a great deal of the imagry would piss off parents like the kids playing way with teh explosions.

Yeah, with a bit of proper suggestive editing it could be a PS3 commercial, but as is it could be for the 360, Wii or DS.

This advert is aimed at children when the average gamers is aged 25/26 and not to mention it probably brakes a bunch of rules concerning violence and what not.

I disagee with almost everybody's comment. I think the video/mock ad was great. Whatever... different strokes and shit.

I agree. The school fight was a little much, and I doubt that part would ever get approved (and I don't see how the theme applies at all), but the rest of it was pretty good.

I can't listen to the audio, but I thought it was directed well and the concept could be very effective as a TV advertisement with some tweaking.

Then again, I found the kids playing war to be the best part and I doubt that'd get approved. That part is also why I didn't have an issue with the video featuring children, because adults playing war would be pretty stupid (I suppose they could be playing paintball, but then it'd just be a paintball commercial).

I mean, granted Cenobia, I'm 30 years old and have not been 10 or 12 for some time now... but, that's what kids do, right? They play war. They use their imaginations to rid the galaxy of a menace here and save a princess there ect. I think everybody needs to take a deep breath and figure it out.

What was that video trying to do? It was trying to show kids using their imagination, like they do every day, and apply it to a game console... Seems reasonable to me.

I think the general tone of the comments here reflect a larger issue with society today and honestly... with - and I hate to say it, because it gets said so much - an overly politically correct mentality. People's children are not going to burst into flames and explode because they play with fake guns or dream of being a hero.

Also, many people get picked on in school... it's pretty normal and a rite of passage in some ways. How you deal with it as a child, in many ways dictates how you deal with it as an adult. You should never let anyone walk all over you, in the classroom or the boardroom.

Can you imagine parents groups? They'd be all up in arms over kids depicted in a war. It wouldn't make sense anyway. Since FPS games are rated M for mature.

Very good, and better than a lot of million dollar ads that Sony has done in the past. Sony never does action/edgy. The only Sony Campaign that was edgy and got my adrenaline going was one a few years ago called "Universe of Entertainment".

It aired in 2007 after the embarrassing "Crying baby" empty white room ads. It really defined gaming for me and made me watch even after seeing it over and over again.

I would disagree that Sony isn't edgy, since I would actually consider the Crying Baby ads and numerous other Sony Advertising missteps to be way too edgy.

I love the Kevin Butler ads, they are actually funny. I see them as being a commercial reply to early years of Sony being to cocky. Kind of an entertaining "We're sorry, but we can laugh at ourselves too" campaign.

I agree. I thought this "ad" was pretty cool. It showed what the imagination can be capable of. But you're right when you say parents and Fox News would be all over this. Just look at how people reacted to the Black Ops "There's a Soldier in All of Us" commercial.
