Those numbers seem very low for the entire year, only 1.48 million 360 games the whole year? Hey at least they made a profit of almost 800 million

SilverSlug4822d ago

Yeah, it does... because its not the entire year. Its Q3 profits...

Article got it wrong, its not yearly. The year for SEGA is not over till March.

lelo2play4822d ago (Edited 4822d ago )

"1.48 million software units were sold on Xbox 360 divided by 11 different SKUs, PSP sold 1.44 million divided by 11 SKUs, the Wii accounted for 1.42 million units across 9 SKUs, DS brought in 1.34 million units across 9 SKUs and the PS3 managed 1.13 million units across 7 SKUs."

Do different SKUs mean different games ?
If SKU's are games, what games came to the X360 that didn't come to the PS3 by Sega?

I find these numbers very low... for every platform. It gives an average of 100-150k per game in any platform.

SilverSlug4822d ago

Virtua-On Force. But I dunno if that was out at the time. This is Q3... so basically Yakuza games didn't count etc.

If you have not played Vanquish, GO BUY IT! its a great action game and deserves better sales numbers. I'd also like to know the sales numbers for AvP, although panned often, I think it was a good game and there are always matches to play on PSN (even though the matchmaking is wonky and should have been fixed), so fans have bought it.

Damn I don't have stocks in Sega, doesn't matter to me.

Starhawk over Warhawk?...... Dude, NO ONE should listen to you.

Odd choices for "best" more like you settled as these being the "best" that available to you at the time, cause a lot of these blow or were average to poor performers that ended up in bargain bin.

Missing too many great sci-fi titles here. The Void, The Resistance Series, Killzone 2 and 3, Enslaved, man.. there were so many, this is redicu-list.

FreeckyCake6d ago

Nobody should listen to you either with that attitude.

OtterX6d ago

I agree that Starhawk shouldn't be above Warhawk, however I must say that Starhawk multiplayer was incredible for its time! Many people wrote it off bc the single player was quite terrible, bc it was basically 1 huge tutorial for the multiplayer. But I can tell you never spent any significant amount of time in MP. It was doing incredibly tense base building w air, foot and land vehicle (and mech!) combat long before Fortnite was ever a thing.

I bet it would have been much better received if it had just ditched the story mode all together. So many people like yourself completely wrote it off based on reviews by reviewers that let the criticism of single player weigh heavily on their scores. I bet you didn't even play it.

The riddick games are some of the best stealth titles ever, highly underrated

YourMommySpoils6d ago

What games? All recall plating was Escape from Butcher Bay.

Friendlygamer6d ago (Edited 6d ago )

There's also the less acclaimed 'assault on dark Athena'

( also, not saying this to you specifically but there's both resistance and killzone games on the list, it's amazing how even something so simple and innocent as a game list can be turned into misinformed vitriol here lol )

Glad to see Resonance of Fate. Enslaved was pretty good too. I’m sure there are others nobody has listed but I’m too tired to try and think of anything

Sega sells Relic and will cut 240 jobs across UK studios

GamesIndustry.biz writes: "Relic is best known for the Company of Heroes and Dawn of War games, and recently developed the new Age of Empires for Microsoft. Relic will transition to an independent studio and will no-longer be part of the Sega group of studios.

The majority of the 240 job cuts are across Creative Assembly and Sega Europe, while there will be a ‘small number’ cut from Sega HARDLight. There was no mention of other Sega UK studios, including Two Point Studios and Sports Interactive."

Shame about Creative Assembly, they should have just been allowed to do an Alien Isolation sequel.

just_looken21d ago

It was that garbage coh 3 that did them in only a special team can make a sequel worse in every way even though it was a 10 year gap and the same era.

gold_drake22d ago

I hope they find new jobs in the industry soon.

Jingsing22d ago

Two Point Studios and Sports Interactive probably run on a shoe string budget so that fits into SEGA better lol
