Onlive Micro Console review (Goozernation.com)

Onlive's Micro Console is the perfect way to enjoy Onlive's gaming services. Small enough to take on the go, it provides the same great options as using Onlive's service on the PC. Games such as Red Faction: Guerrilla and Alpha Protocol looked identical to their console counterparts. Could something this small be the future of console gaming? If so, where's the wireless support?

If my Xbox ever red rings again, I might check this out as a new option.

TooTall194832d ago

You should at least give it a try. The service continues to get better. Right now I prefer to play on 360 or ps3, but I still enjoy my micro console as another option and will most likely surpass my current consoles in the future.

Am seriously not a fan of the concept I like to be able to actually own my media, and not require my internet connection and the servers to still be up to be able to play.

Honestly do you think EA will keep servers up on classic games, if you don't own the physical media once the servers are gone you lose it forever.

I understand the positives but honestly developers and publishers would just have gamers by the balls if this ever caught on.

Marked4832d ago

This would never work for me. My ISP is terrible, I'm lucky if I get 2mb/s during peak hours when I'm supposed to recieve 12mb/s. I would fiend out during that time it would = zero game time till the speeds came back up.
Anyone looking to try service with minimum speed reguirements... read the small print. These companys do not tell you what speeds you must have.

BattleAxe4832d ago (Edited 4832d ago )

This service will never become big, especially if ISP's here in Canada start jacking up the cost of being on the internet. The CRTC just ruled that all ISPs in Canada can now charge by usage..........this sucks!

If you live in Canada sign this petition, go to:

You gotta give your full name and address.

does look cool. but looked at the prices and it seems a little hefty for what it is. they said if you buy a game for 60 bucks and let ur onlive subscription run out then u lost that game. would def wait till they work out all teh kinks

kube004832d ago

That is a good point. It would be interesting to see what happens with this in a year.

ATiElite4832d ago

it will be bankrupt or just a movie service

DaCajun4832d ago (Edited 4832d ago )

@ Mottsy

Wow you people need to educate yourself more. I have tried this service but don't use it because it doesn't have enough games yet and the quality needs to improve but don't make up false statements before you know the facts. If you don't know go to their website it explains everything instead of repeating crap you heard from someone that heard from someone else a year ago. They originally thought about charging a monthly fee even for the games you bought but right after launch last summer they decided to make the subscription free.

The games are around the price of PC games which are $50 at the most for recent releases and less for older. Plus how does a Free subscription run out? ONLIVE is FREE to subscribe to, you just pay for the game. The only monthly fee option is you pay $10 a month to play over 30 games unlimited with more added all the time which is basically a monthly rental service where you didn't buy the games out right, so if you stop paying it then yes you don't get to play those games anymore but the ones you bought outright doesn't expire you can still play those.

Also I love how everyone says they hate that you have to be online to play games. WOW does anyone here know of anyone under 30 that isn't connect to the internet 24/7/365 one way or another? So WTF is the problem? Do you people complain that it sucks you have to breathe to stay alive and it's too much work that you wish you had a machine to do it for you? I'm sure that can be made possible you whiney lazy babies.

SheenuTheLegend59d ago

all the games in the above list are bang on. this is the only reason we need backwards compatibility and physical presense of games for the upcoming future, no matter what.

Yi-Long60d ago

Honorable mention to the excellent Driveclub, one of the best racing games of all-time and one of my favourite games ever.

melons60d ago

yes! incredible rain effects; so good to drive along in rain with your Spotify playlist blaring

Skuletor60d ago

I really wanted a MotorStorm using the same engine, Driveclub is easily one of the best looking games on PS4 and I'm surprised they didn't even give it a PS4 Pro patch.

ravens5259d ago

Yes indeed. May just install it on my PS5. You know, physical copy and all.

monkey60259d ago

I adored Driveclub and the Bike expansion. I also loved Motorstorm. Evolution shutting down was a crime

Outrun Online Arcade, Sega Rally Online Arcade, After Burner Climax... all good stuff. I keep my 360 hooked up to play these as well as the TMNT games that were also delisted.

Skuletor60d ago

I have quite a few of these. Timed licenses suck.

Terry_B59d ago (Edited 59d ago )

wow...I have all of them except the Nintendo ones either in physical or digital version.

Also..Deadpool the Game is missing on that list.

Top 10 Xbox 360 Games That Need to be Backward Compatible

Kevin F. from Link Cable Gaming writes: "Many of the best Xbox 360 games are playable on the Xbox One and Series X|S consoles. Some even with some enhanced visuals and performance. Unfortunately, not every game from the Xbox 360 library has received this glorious feat of being able to be played on more modern Microsoft consoles."

The Spider-man games will never happen. The xbox 360 Marvel Ultimate Alliance games have a better chance of happening than Spider-man titles but won't happen. The Xbox One Ultimate Alliance games delisted years ago

Vits1028d ago

Yeah... you can totally forget about those entries that got delisted because of licensing issues. Those are not happening.

MetalProxy1028d ago

Wait everything isn’t BC? You guys act like it is lol

porkChop1028d ago

Almost all of the games people want to play are BC, and that's a hell of a lot better than having none available.

ApocalypseShadow1028d ago (Edited 1028d ago )

Almost all the games people want to play? Not true. Majority picks screw over the minority who have games collecting dust. Metal is right. Fans make it seem that it's all. 39/997 games from OG Xbox is NOT all. 568/2154 from 360 is NOT all. But you guys play it up like it is.

And from my count, there are 4,000+ PS4 BC games on PS5 that I see. And almost every VR game. Series X has no Kinect games or Kinect 2. But you played that up too. No more dancing.

As for the article, some of the BC games make sense. The others with Spider-Man aren't happening.
