I doubt any fans of Resident Evil were too scared to finish 4 or 5...

lociefer4835d ago (Edited 4835d ago )

resident evil stopped being scary, or even resident evil after nemesis, just my opinion

deadreckoning6664835d ago (Edited 4835d ago )

YUP...the RE series at its core has been about surviving when the odds are against you and managing limited resources. RE4 gave you too much ammo and RE5 had co-op play. Knowing someones got your back makes the game a lot less scarier.

DORMIN4835d ago

hahahah RE5 scary?

Yeah zombies on dirty bikes are scary as hell
/sarcasm

FrankMcSpank4835d ago (Edited 4835d ago )

@lociefer

Well I would actually say it was Resident Evil 0 on Gamecube, oh and Code Veronica(X) That was the last great and true RE. RE4 was good for what it did new, but not scary. RE5, well....let me hold my side as to not bust open from the classic ROFLMAO

crxss4835d ago

LMAO who was too scared to finish 4 or 5?? anyone anyone? i doubt these people exist...

I think this is just another way for Capcom to say that they hope kids will buy this since RE isn't normally marketed towards them.

Agreed. After Nemesis the series has gone downhill. The ONE thing fans wanted was a SURVIVAL HORROR game and they went and make it more action and less horror...

Fantastic move morons!

cochise3134835d ago (Edited 4835d ago )

Code veronica was pretty good. I think RE2 is still the best though.

jony_dols4835d ago

I'm a long time Resi fan, but Resi 4 was amazing albeit not scary.

Resi 3 Nemesis was my fav.

Spitfire_Riggz4835d ago

I literally laughed out loud. I could play that game with dead bodies everywhere, at 3am with the volume all the way up and still wouldnt be scared.

HebrewHammer4835d ago

Resident Evil 5 was about as scary as Viva Pinata

Marceles4835d ago

With all the moves and ammo we get on the new ones, I don't know how anyone can be scared of RE anymore

Spitfire_Riggz4835d ago

Dead Space my friend, we need to support it so the horror genre doesnt die

JsonHenry4834d ago

You're a walking tank in deadspace too! Why the hell would anyone be scared of that game either?!

ALFAxD_CENTAURO4835d ago

''Capcom is hoping that Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D will bring the experience to gamers too scared to play through the recent games in the series.''

I assume those are the words from the Author gets scared with everything.

Don't play Amnesia The Dark Decent, for you own sake.

Bravo44834d ago

Wha? RE4 still had a little bit of that horror atmosphere still not that scary though. And RE5, well it had NONE at all! I hardly consider these two be part of the franchise.
Compared to RE3, these two are nothing! The opening of Nemesis was scarier than both these games combined!

*Looks at pic of Nemesis and presses Start*

"RESIDENT EEEVIL"

Holy $#*@!

fatstarr4834d ago

resident evil 4 scared the shit outta be but that was like 5 years ago. i beat it in 2009 lol.

RedDead4834d ago

I had more of a nervous breakdown when he got to me, I thought he was more intense than scary, he made you get in the zone or so they say.

fatstarr4834d ago (Edited 4834d ago )

yea thats what i felt too. re4 was very intense but some shit got to me. i played late at night with the volume up i dont know what was wrong with me.

Please Resident Evil 4 & 5 Scary, L4D Was Scarier

jay24835d ago

PMSL!!!!!!!!1 too Scary, maybe it's because this is a Nintendo console that it's on thet Capcom think they can say this??

gypsygib4835d ago

Resident Evil hasn't been scary since the first one, Dead Space on the other hand.

ct034835d ago

I think the second and third games were just as scary as the first. The second one is my favorite because of all the different scenarios.

Kon4835d ago

I scare myself when playing Elder Scrolls lmao

phantomexe4835d ago

My wife gets that way on fallout when the gaols run her ass down lol. I really should tape her and toss it up on youtube. It's a wonder my controler still works.

R_aVe_N4835d ago

I manage to scare myself on a lot of games that require you to play in really dark settings lol. Like those things in Uncharted that jump out and chase you, or in Fallout when in caves. I tend to scare fairly easy though 8)

ct034835d ago

For games to be scary, you need to be playing in the right environment:
1) Dark room
2) Nobody else present in the room
3) Reasonably large display
4) Loud audio

The dark room is particularly important. Even the scariest game (or movie) just isn't scary anymore when your peripheral vision makes you aware of where you are. This is the reason why I play (horror) games only at night with no lights turned.

Eternal Darkness was way ahead of its time especially for a Nintendo exclusive.

I would love to see a remake or sequel (multiplatform)

Ristul91d ago

When I see Eternal Darkness, I klick!

TheBrainZ91d ago

Not to sound too repetitive but Eternal Darkness all the way!

This Feature Makes Lethal Company Scarier Than Resident Evil

Games like Lethal Company end up scary because of their freeform nature, while Resident Evil's polish and storytelling ultimately make them rather tame in comparison. Agree or disagree?
