Possibility of Torchlight on the PS3 Looking Grim

The Diable-style dungeon crawler Torchlight took the PC world by storm back in 2009, and both fans and hopefuls rejoiced when news of console ports surfaced. Though the Xbox 360 port is set to release soon, little has been said about the PS3 version, and there’s a good reason why.

Not a big deal. Paid $2 for it on my pc a long time ago. Its pretty good but why is this such a downer for some? Get it cheap for the pc. You can use a junk pc to play it.

thebudgetgamer4848d ago

i'll check the demo when it comes to the 360. my pc won't play anything.

STONEY44848d ago

Just try the PC demo on Steam. The requirements are insanely low. Like, Intel integrated graphics low.

Bigpappy4849d ago

No, you guys are wrong about this game. It is a very fun game to play. I think M$ might have had something to do with delaying the PS3 version. I got it on steams last year for $5 and play it all the through. I don't even game on PC anymore, but this was too sweet to pass up after reading all the hype. I will now pay at least $15 to play it on Xbox. But a PS3 version would have sold well also.

Parapraxis4848d ago

Game looks great to me, I would get it on PS3 if I could, but I'll be happy with the 360 version.

Christopher4848d ago (Edited 4848d ago )

Very sad news. With MS as publisher, it's unlikely we'll ever see it. Would be one of the best additions to PSN, IMHO.

Lord_Doggington4848d ago

man if they only added multiplayer via live...that'd be something...

Christopher4848d ago

Looks like they're saving that for the sequel.

Kamikaze1354848d ago

It's a great game, but it pales in comparison to the 2nd game. That's probably why people bash this game. The first game only took place in the same dungeon and contained no multiplayer. Plus with a XLBA release, it'll probably delay development on the 2nd game.

Kamikaze1354848d ago

What I mean is, the cave you enter in the beginning of the game is the same cave you're in at the end of the game. You're practically in the same dungeon and all floors are randomly generated. So there really isn't much variety.

I was going to buy it off of Steam, but I think I'll wait till it drops to $10 during a sale or something.

Why is it everytime a game isn't coming to ps3 the fanbase claim they don't want it anyway because it isn't great? Super Meat Boy, Torchlight, Gothic 4...its all the same comments

It's called fanboyism, don't act like you've no idea why this happens.

Parapraxis4848d ago

Believe it or not ChristianGamer, it goes the other way too.

Christopher4848d ago (Edited 4848d ago )

I'd ask you to not generalize the PS3 fanbase into a single group, plese.

nevimkdojsem24848d ago

Because they are genuinely not interested? I have a gaming PC, even prefered it to my PS3 in 2010 (because of Civilization 5, Minecraft, ME2), could download Super Meat Boy, Torchlight or Gothic right now from steam for next to nothing but I won't because they simply don't appeal to me.

divideby04848d ago (Edited 4848d ago )

maybe some have other games to play... LBP2, KZ and DCU in the first couple of months of this year...
how many games can someone play.....

or you can look at it that my 360 will have a game to play besides Kinect.. problem is with the list above, I dont have time for it

and as pointed out its also on the PC

Persistantthug4848d ago (Edited 4848d ago )

It clearly says Microsoft is publishing the console version.

Yawn.... I will say torchlight is fun, but i have that on my steamdeck. Relicta is also on PS+ Extra and looks like it would make a cool VR game. No PSVR support though.

VenomUK661d ago

@Darthv72 How did you shift this story about the Xbox Games with Gold lineup into a negative about PSVR not supporting one of the games?! 🤣

crazyCoconuts661d ago

It's pretty impressive actually.

darthv72661d ago (Edited 661d ago )

Hmm... that is funny. I see it more as a negative against XB. Like other games on both, some offer a VR mode for PS and this looked like it should be one of them. Then again it doesnt even offer VR for PC so... ehh.

RedDevils661d ago

That how professional troll at their best work.

ChasterMies661d ago

Why continues reporting this? Who is left that is still interested in Games with Gold?

crazyCoconuts661d ago

I guess if I paid $5/month for this crap I'd still want to know what I got...

Eidolon661d ago

Yeah, be interesting to know. I hardly care because of Game Pass now, still don't mind seeing what we get, but I've come to terms that it's mostly going to be nothing I'll play if have GP.

itsmebryan661d ago

They should get rid of games w gold. With Gamepass I have too many better games to even think about GWG.

crazyCoconuts661d ago

So they've managed to decrease the value you get each month without decreasing revenue by making the games crappier. If they still charged $5/month without giving you ANY games at all, it would open them up to criticism and direct comparisons to PS+ without any way to subjectively spin the message

Crows90660d ago (Edited 660d ago )

It's also part of gamepass ultimate. It's good to see since it directly competes with ps extra

northpaws661d ago

This is beyond bad... kinda shitty move to force all their subscribers to get gamepass.

VersusDMC661d ago

Technically forcing people to move to Gamepass Ultimate. Regular gamepass doesn't include Gold.

Silly gameAr661d ago

I guess that's that value that everyone keeps talking about.

KillBill660d ago

Technically you aren't forced to buy anything. And Xbox Live gold can be bought separately. https://www.xbox.com/en-US/...

KillBill660d ago

What are you talking about you can still buy Xbox Live Gold on its own if you want to. You guys need to stop having conversations about Xbox if you know nothing about it. https://www.xbox.com/en-US/...

Silly gameAr660d ago (Edited 660d ago )

I guess the comments flew right over your head, huh? If GP was such a good value, gold would come with game pass, without having to get the more expensive opinion.

KillBill660d ago

@silly - what? Point is that gold can be had WITHOUT game pass. simple as that. Nothing forcing you to buy game pass.

gamer9660d ago

@ Silly, not sure what you're trying to say, you want game pass ultimate for the price of xbox live gold? That's ridiculous the amount of full price day 1 games you get included in game pass - you don't get that for cheap. Nobody is forced to get game pass, if the value is there you subscribe. if there's a drought in games you unsubscribe like i just did a month ago. Will likely get back on game pass this fall/holiday and into 2023 when the games are flooding in.

The Best Dungeon Crawlers Not Named Diablo

From Xfire: "The words "dungeon crawler" are defined as a genre of role-playing games wherein "heroes navigate a labyrinth environment, battling various monsters, avoiding traps, solving puzzles, and looting any treasure they may find."

Now, if you, just like every other gamer, thought immediately of any of the Diablo games when you read that, you're probably not alone.

The thing is, the Diablo franchise has been synonymous with dungeon crawlers since 1997. But while the Diablo titles have long been considered the most popular dungeon crawlers, they're far from the only ones that are worth playing."
