Bluepoint did a good job with GoW except for the cutscenes which looked off. I just hope there are no lower resolution moments like that with the Team Ico collection
:)

MariaHelFutura4874d ago

Besides the beginning, middle and end, the cutscenes are about 10 secs at the temple.

It wouldn`t be the biggest deal w/ SOTC.

I_find_it_funny4874d ago (Edited 4874d ago )

Nice, they're proved good already.

NecrumSlavery4874d ago (Edited 4874d ago )

Yeah, the gameplay visuals in the COW:C was so great that it made the cutscenes stand out as very 'muddy'. Its not a deal breaker, but still kind of odd it wasn't polished. Does anyone know why they did it like that? Is it a storage space issue?

EDIT: @PirateThom below..That makes sense.

HolyOrangeCows4874d ago (Edited 4874d ago )

"except for the cutscenes which looked off"

Well, you can't really blame them; the original devs probably didn't keep the data to the animations. And Bluepoint probably doesn't have the resources to be recreating/rendering advanced cutscenes.

But it would have been COOL if they had.

badz1494874d ago

they can't remaster it due to it being not in-game or in-engine cutscenes. they were pre-rendered CGI thus the only way to make it better is to make entirely new cutscenes which will increase the production cost. that's why they were left untouched. same with sly and PoP. and I think ICO will be the same.

PirateThom4874d ago

And that was sort of beyond their control. The movies were FMV rather than done in-engine, it's easier to upscale game assets than video.

Hellsvacancy4874d ago (Edited 4874d ago )

Hav u seen the fmvs in FF8? (PS3 port) they look really bad, pixelated etc, why o why i dont know (was gonna type "y o y i dont know" but i thouht itll blow your mind)

Akagi4874d ago (Edited 4874d ago )

It's kinda hard to upscale FMV cutscenes...

ALFAxD_CENTAURO4874d ago (Edited 4874d ago )

Also Final Fantasy and Metal Gear Solid HD Collections are coming, not announced yet, but are coming for sure, SCEA Rep said that.

Here it is the article:
http://www.thegameheadz.com...

''“The industry’s best developers are ReMastering their best games. Prince of Persia, Shadow of Colossus, and ICO are just the beginning. When fans see what Konami’s doing to the Metal Gear series, and what Square’s doing with Final Fantasy, they’re going to be very happy.”

He went on to say doing backwards Compatibility through HD ReMastering is best for gamers, developers, and the PlayStation 3. Gamers get to enjoy their favorite games in HD, with trophy support, ReMastered games fall under the Licensing for the PlayStation 3, and is consider a PS3 title, developers can reap a return on games they develop years ago,

Sony gets royalties for the new sales generated under the PlayStation 3 agreement for Remastered titles, so this is a plus for the Playstation pocket book.

Be prepared to play your favorite Playstation 2 classics in Stereoscopic 3D, HD, and in digital 7.1 surround sound. All this equipped on one gorges Blu-Ray Disc.''

Rythrine4874d ago

Oh man. Hope you're right about this. I'll be buying them day one.

MariaHelFutura4874d ago

The GTA collection would be an amazing disc.

dalibor4874d ago

I like all those games so yes I hope that they all do eventually make it to a store near me. Unless I use the internet.

Chris3994874d ago

Despite people universally hating on it. The game had a mature, political story, heaps of side-questing right from the get go, a very open world. Fran was kick-arse. Balthier had a rather Johnny Deppish swagger. Totally fun stuff.

I'd buy a trophy enabled XII again in a heartbeat.

DigitalRaptor4874d ago (Edited 4874d ago )

To be honest, that quote came from nowhere. I don't think it has a source.

But I hope it's true. All I really want is an HD collection for: Metal Gear Solid, GTA, Jak & Daxter and Zone of the Enders.

In fact, just the MGS Collection would suffice really!

Glad these two games are getting a make over. Bring out more Sony. A Silent Hill pack would be hella cool or even a Resident Evil collection. So many games to choose from.... What would you guys/gals like to see remade in high definition?

Rythrine4874d ago

Xenogears...but it's a long shot :)

RedDead4874d ago

With Naruto UnS2 or Valkyria chronicles graphics, and VA. I would jizz.

"A Silent Hill pack would be hella cool"

This

scar204874d ago (Edited 4874d ago )

I want jak and daxter, ratchet and clank, and ff7 Dirge of Cerberus.

Edit:And also a MK hd remake of Deadly alliance,Deception,Armegeddon

Cajun Chicken4874d ago

Bluepoint is pretty awesome. I'm playing GoW1 on the God of War collection right now. It would be wise for Sony to swipe up this studio so we can have other HD anthologies such as Jak and Ratchet.
Sanzaru also. Once the remakes are over. They'd be great first party developers to unleash, I'm sure their bustling with creativity.

15 Amazing PS2 Games That No One Remembers

They may not be as remembered by the vast majority as other classics, but these PlayStation 2 titles are still significant.

A good number of these games are pretty well-known in the gaming community. I don't know who this 'no one' is, but they might not have been a gamer during the time of the PS2. ICO? The Warriors? BULLY?!? C'mon now.

FullmetalRoyale287d ago

Certainly not as interesting as a spoon controversy, right?

Terry_B288d ago

Not one of these is pretty "forgotten". But what you can forget are bad lists that need 15 clicks.

Terry_B287d ago

edit..why the fuck was this shit approved by 2 guys after all?

luckytrouble287d ago

Because the approval system is fundamentally flawed. The amount shouldn't decrease for approval over time, nobody should be able to have more than one vote, and pending content should be more visible so those measures don't feel necessary to push through less immediately popular pieces.

The number of ways this system can be intentionally or accidentally abused so crap like this can get through has been ridiculous for ages now.

Petebloodyonion288d ago

The title is misleading, it should be 15 best ps2 that you always ignored (hence the title of the video).
These games are not unknow but often left out when talking PS2 great game.
The warrior is a great game but let's be frank just mention it in a discussion amongs friends and half the crowd will go " OMG I forgot about that! "

Christopher286d ago

I think that's just a factor of time. Most movies from the 80s/90s that are great are like that with me as well. They're still great, just been so much between now and then that you can't keep it all at the forefront of your mind.

banger88288d ago

15 games on 15 pages? F*** that. I'll save you a click:

The Thing
Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution
Deus Ex: The Conspiracy
Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly
Twisted Metal Black
ICO
Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy
Transformers
Silent Hill 4: The Room
Red Dead Revolver
War of the Monsters
XIII
Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction
The Warriors
Bully

Good man, keep up the work homie

Leeroyw287d ago

Agreed. Some heroes put on their pants one leg at a time like the rest of us. Thank you.

MrNinosan287d ago

I remember and know all the game exceot War of the Monsters...
But maybe my name is "no one"

Phoenix76286d ago

Last time I checked (a year ago) War of the Monsters was available to buy as a ps2 classic on the ps store. Know I've still got my disc copy and fairly sure it's in my digital library

Abnor_Mal287d ago

This video game journalist must not know any gamers, not be on any gaming sites, and is probably young only know of these games because of an older sibling.

None of those games are forgotten and most are spoken of fondly fairly often.

Very special game! I still have the limited edition. The artstyle of Team ICO is very distinct. https://www.videogameshelf....

This was a fun look at Ico. So hard to believe it's been 20 years already. Where does time go?
