1UP Preview: Journey: How It's An Online Game That Need Not Be Played Online

1UP: "Batted by the sounds of gun-fire from the two booths beside them, thatgamecompany (the team behind introspective indie hits Flower and fl0w) spoke about their latest game Journey. Jacking up the volume, we leaned in close to a monitor to hear the game's ambient sounds. This was, perhaps, not the best environment to demo a game about wandering a desert. Or so it seemed. But as the demo continued, the beauty of Journey displayed itself. Wind whipped the dry landscape and sand that caked at the nubby feet of the protagonist, a flowing personified ribbon of cloth. This was unlike anything else -- not just in how it looked, but how it worked."

Wow, didn't know this game would have online. It's interesting to see how they made it considering that they said they made it from complete scratch, no lobbies just drop and play. Anyone have gameplay footage?

It was released before the VGA.
Search on YouTube.

Anyway, I am tired of shooters and action games.
I am really looking forward to this unique game.

I don't think there is much gameplay footage out there on this interesting downloadable title.

That says something quite profound and symbolic of the current generation. Non-shooters being drowned out by FPS games.

I really like their unique train of thought on how online multiplayer can work. I certainly hope that this game turns out to be amazing and sells great; this sort of creativity and nonconformity makes my heart soften.

They made it by ripping off Demon's Souls online interactions and pretending it was their own creation.

Its a bit different, but yes, I thought the EXACT same thing when I read it.

I have NO idea how the game is played, yet I'm still gonna buy it DAY 1! Flower was ACE, thatgamecompany can have my money and eat it too.

Newtype4875d ago

It's going to be a 14.99 priced game. I hope it has a platinum trophy.

Concept artist has a very distinct style and if they can translate that into the game well this studio will be making some visually stunning games.
