Mass Effect 2 PS3 Release Date

Electronic Arts has confirmed to IGN that Mass Effect 2 for PlayStation 3 will ship in the United States on Jan. 18. 2011 and Jan. 21 in Europe.

I don't know. As far as my memory is concerned they had said something like they were shooting for a January release, but I don't remember them ever announcing a specific date.

I loved this game on the 360 so much that I think I am going to buy it for the PS3 just to play through it again and get the trophies.

then again, i haven't been keeping up with it because i bought this on 360 and then PC. i don't think i'll be getting it for my PS3. but maybe... haha

I have mixed feelings about ME1. I liked the game at the beginning, then it got progressively boring and repetitive. It took me a while to get back into the game, but I loved every second of it after the moment I landed on Ilos.

I really need to pick up ME2, but I haven't seen any copies at the local retailers.

I think you're about an hour away from the ending, maybe an hour and a half. And you don't have a choice but to stick to the main missions anymore. Once you set foot on Ilos you will not return to the Normandy until Mass Effect 2.

Yes, ME2 will have to wait a bit because of LBP2 and Christmas games I'll still be playing, but I'm definitely going to get it.

Remember when the first LBP released? The online mode was one of the most lagtastic things I've ever seen in a video game. No, my connection was not the problem, I never lag. The game itself was insanely fun and quite innovative, but the broken online mode broke my heart.

Mass Effect 2 on the other hand, is one of the most interesting sci-fi RPGs I've ever seen. I was beyond jealous when the 360 got ME1 and ME2, I thought the series would never see a PS3 release.

Day. One. Purchase.

PLAY THE FIRST ONE FIRST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't cheat yourself by watching some 5 minute youtube summary. I put 60 hours in the first Mass Effect.

It's a shame the you ps3 only owners won't be able to experience the full Mass Effect. Remember, your character makes tough decisions in the first one and effects the sequel.

AGAIN, PLAY THE FIRST ONE!!! Oh and if you really are a sci-fi nut, read the books too. It's 2 of them. A prequel to the first game and book 2 covers in between the 2 games. Best sci fi story ever!

EDIT, KURISU, don't do it man. It wouldn't be the same. You really are cheating yourself one of the best gaming experiences ever. Mass Effect is like a big budget movie. Play the PC version, borrow a 360, do whatever you can but I guarantee you that skipping the first game will probably not give you the same "WOW" factor when playing part 2. Character development, learning your enemy, learning about the world of Mass Effect, the last guy in Mass Effect 2 will not feel the same.

Yea. It will be interesting to compare the sales between the two games. PS3 gamers have been crying out for a chance to play Mass Effect, but when it comes to the release will people really pick it up before their beloved exclusive?! Tbh I thought the first LBP was a bit overhyped, so I'm going to go with Mass Effect 2.

yes, we should consider mass effect 2 exclusive when speaking of day one sales because it would hardly be in competition with me 2 on the 360 which everyones played already. it has its own release date and own hype.

yeah, but honestly games like cod and lbp dont have the same audience at all, yet a ton of people own both those games. ill bet they wouldnt have owned both if they came out on the same day though. Im definitely down to buy both, but only a small fraction of people are devoted enough to buy two games in one day.theres no doubt sonys making people choose here and i just think thats kinda lame.
