Ian Fisher writes: A few hours ago news broke that Raven Software’s James Bond video game was resurrected by Activision. Yes, Raven Software (Wolfenstein, Singularity, X-Men Origins: Wolverine) were working on a James Bond game, that is until Activision decided to put the project on the shelf so Raven could focus on creating map packs for COD: Black Ops. But now everything seems to be back on track and in the near future we could be getting a stealth centric James Bond game from Raven, fingers crossed of course.
Thanks to the wonders of the internet, and the nature of the video game industry not being able to keep anything a secret, some early footage of Raven’s James Bond game has been found
A former Raven Software developer has outed the studio was once working on a standalone live service Call of Duty Zombies game.
It obviously would have been Heretic/Hexen. With the resurgence of DOOM, Wolfenstein, and "Boomer Shooters" in general, it's a good time to bring back these older franchises. Same with Quake and Unreal.
We need a sequel to singularity. It was really a fun inventive game. Hopefully Raven doesn’t continue to get stuck with Call of Duty anymore.
Raven is a great studio. Hopefully now, they can move onto something different. A studio that was getting stuck with ten years of Call of Duty stuff, must of sucked.
Heretic is the number one game I'd love a reboot of, less Hexen more Hereitc though, more fast pace with lots of weapons. Love a reboot/remaster of Heretic 2, thats a game you cant find these days in a store
Phil Spencer says that Microsoft will recognize the first AAA video game union once the acquisition is complete.
Still disappointed they sold the Soldier of Fortune series to Cauldron.. Why Raven why?
I mean, its a good show of faith by the corpo giant, but they have to legally recognize them regardless.
I doesn't matter. Raven's Union will have zero power when it counts. Everyone knows this.
The vote is the culmination of efforts to unionize that began in December after 12 quality assurance testers were let go before the holidays.
Oh man. I wonder how Microsoft feels about this? Outwardly every business has to give the appearance of supporting freedom of choice. Internally though I promise they are furiously working to make sure the major vote goes their way. This vote simply unlocked the door for the union. The next one decides if they walk in and start repainting walls or if the door gets slammed in their face and relocked.
Once it’s in the chances of it spreading to other parts of the business are high. Microsoft has got to be thinking of the potential damage this can cause.
NO bond game from this generation will come as close to the masterpiece as goldeneye.
Raven Software are awesome developers. Wolfenstein and Wolverine, while not amazing on the technical front, had amazing/over-the-top/balls-to- the-walls intense action from awesome gameplay and game mechanics.
If anyone can do action right, its these guys, and the fact they're using the Bond license makes it even better!
The graphics and gameplay look pretty good and seem to replicate the current James Bond pretty well. I'm looking forward to seeing more.
