Gamerzines writes: "Nintendo has said it is looking into reason why action/adventure title Metroid: Other M didn't sell as well as they had hoped.
Nintendo of America boss, Reggie Fils-Aime, says Nintendo believed the collaborative effort between themselves and Team Ninja should have been a 'million unit title'."
Alex DS. from Link Cable Gaming writes: "All this renewed Metroid love has put us in a Kraid sized mood to revisit the series’ highlights – so for today’s Top 10, we’re looking at the greatest Metroid moments ever."
As a huge fan of Metroid, even I find it difficult to defend Federation Force. Did they miss the mark on this one?
In development for NX. This is some garbage with Metroid slapped on the title to kick fans in the teeth.
Its the art style man. If it looked similar to the Prime Games, just in Third person it would be so bad.
Federation Force is fine. It has a cartoony artstyle, otherwise people would be up for it. Next Level Games is a good developer and it's highly unlikely it'll be a bad game. Maybe not fantastic, but it'll be good. If they pulled that artstyle on Wii U, I'd be bleh about it, but considering the 3DS's limited capabilities it's okay.
It has got to be the art style. Metroid Prime: Hunters wasn't anywhere near as poorly received as this game.
Or, maybe it's that Metroid fans just want to complain right now since it seems like Mario and Zelda are getting all the love. As both a Metroid and F-Zero fan, I find that laughable (FYI: F-Zero hasn't had a release since 2003 in NA).
Nothing but getting a spinoff that everyone hate because it's a sin for Metroid to have one. Even when it was in development since 2009. They year Other M came out and 2 years after Prime. Also the year Wii U was being rumored as Wii 2 or Wii HD.
Retro Studios then started Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze after Returns the following year.
So they been working on their new game since Late Spring 2014.
So there that what going on. A new main Metroid game will take 2-3 years to make. If anything I rather they end Prime saga and just go back to it's roots. 2.5D Adventure.
Bums, hind quarters, arses, booties etc. Whatever you call them we’ve listed the best games have to offer
I like how the picture says "front towards gamer" but it shows the back instead. I'm not complaining though
I'm sure it will surpass 1 mil eventually.
metroid as a franchise was always a slow seller.
Metroid just has never been a huge seller. And this game is a very curious beast. I think it's probably the most ambitious experiment in game design this gen. Name another third-person action game that goes from "normal" behind-the-back 3D, to sidescrolling, to arena-style battles with melee, a FPS perspective, and lighter Prime-ish scanning. And that's in like one minute and thirty seconds of gameplay. It's constantly shifting.
Super Metroid was never as big as Mario or Zelda, either. Give Other M a year on the market, and I bet its sales will be about what Prime 2 and 3 have sold LTD.
I'm confused too. Other M was a great game
Leave it to Nintendo to think even a terrible an unneeded approach to a good series would sell millions on name alone.
