GamesRadar: At one time we’ve all done it, or seen it done. We’ve stood in front of the class and delivered a report on a book we’ve never read. Rarely was it ever successful, and even when it was, we all knew the report would have been better had we actually read the damn book. Yet Hollywood has been doing the same thing for years according to Paul Anderson, director of Resident Evil: Afterlife.
While gamers know Paul Anderson for his work behind the camera of Sony Pictures’ Resident Evil franchise, the writer/director/producer also has turned a Death Race remake into a film franchise. He wrote and directed the first film and has written the last two. Universal Home Video has released the second straight-to-video sequel, Death Race: Inferno, on Blu-ray and DVD.
The franchise, which pays homage to Roger Corman’s original Death Race 2000, heads to the desert with Inferno. After launching with Jason Statham on the big screen, the series now features actor Luke Goss behind the wheel as Frankenstein. Goss, who also stars in the new Blu-ray Interview with a Hitman, took some time to talk about the new movie. A gamer, he explains why Death Race would make a great video game, in this exclusive interview.
I enjoy watching the DR series, although I have yet to watch Inferno. I'll be checking it out though. I was pleasantly surprised with DR2.
the original remake, you know what i mean, was so much like a game anyway, i'm surprised there was no tie in game.
the automotive destruction, a selection of options for the car, like the tombstone, and various weapon options.
then there's the power ups on the track.
that screamed game to me.
and the movie was fun, no masterpiece, but fun.
sadly i've yet to see any of the sequels, but i want to.
Two video's of Paul W. Anderson and Milla Jovovich promoting Resident Evil 6 and Resident Evil: Retribution for Japanese public. This is done in a somewhat quirky way...
"Truly scary film"??????????????????? ?????????????????????????????? ? ?????????????????????????????? ? ?????????????????????????????? ? ???
Someone shoot me in the head.
Wow that was uncomfortable to watch. Anderson clearly felt upstaged by how superior the game direction was in comparison to his never ending series of awful films
Its the same like not reading the novel which you are adapting as well:
Without some knowledge of the source material how do you expect to adapt it at all.
In all fairness, the Prince Of Persia film never was actually based on the game. My guess was that Newell took elements he liked, and crafted a film out of that, rather than making you watch the entire game in 3 hours, and I think thats why its more successful than say Resident Evil who try too hard to give a fan service, rather than actually making a decent film outta elements from the game.
Movies were never meant to be played, Games were never meant to be watched (Heavy Rain is an exception).
but Prince of Persia, while still far from what I want in an adaptation of a video game, was the best adaptation I've seen of a video game and it was made by someone who didn't play the games. I'd saying making a shitty adaptation of a well known franchise such as Resident Evil is a little more disrespectful.
i am guessing this article is pointing fingers at scumbags like uwe boll
She is frikin hot!
