Christian Bale to star as Solid Snake in the upcoming MGS movie ?

In the latest edition of Nuts magazine ( UK ), there is an interview with Christian Bale, in which he states he's in the running to play Solid Snake in the 2009 movie Metal Gear Solid.

Yeah I think it just appealed to the hardcore Superman fans but could not compete with the modern day action hero movies like X-Men and Spiderman. But Bryan Singer has promised more action for the sequel, this time with two villains.

Superman was the most expensive movie made I heard? Over $200m for a budget. As for a Batman v Superman? Interestingly Bale said this would happen but after Batman 2 and Superman 2.

David Hayter could be great too, as he kind of look like Snake.

I honestly would have preferred a CGI movie though, as i think that`s a better way to get it more like the the games and gives them more of a "game look". Then we could have the voice and appearance of Snake in the game..ehh.. i mean movie ;).I think Advent Children proved that you could have a good CGI-movie of a game, and when you remember all the bad "game-to-movie" conversions, i believe CGI is the way to go for more of them, not just MGS.

At the moment however, I don't know if I'm looking forward to MGS or worried about it turning into a disaster.

Movies made from games have to be altered in order for them to work as a movie. I remember people talking about a C&C3 movie shortly after its release and that just wouldn't work. However, MGS has what's required for a great movie, the deep character backgrounds and personalities surely help. The story is always deep in MGS anyway, so no real problems there.

The only thing I have a problem with is how the story will progress. MGS is a stealth game, we can't have a movie where Snake sits and waits for 5mins for a guard to walk past so he can silently take him down. They need to turn a stealth game into an action movie really. I'm sure that can be done... can't it?

So naturally Kurt Russell looks like the real life version of Snake from MGS. Alas, with Kurt having played Snake from the Escape movies, you cannot use him as Snake in Metal Gear. Plus, when making a new film franchise destined to be a hollywood blockbuster, filmakers tend to find someone new refreshing or a actor that is hot at the moment. Last time I heard, Gerard Butler (King Leo) from 300 was the frontrunner for the part of Snake. I didnt see him and still dont see him making a good Snake, but if you know anything about this guy, he totally transformed himself to play the king in 300, so I'd have faith enough to know that he could totally change his image again. But if Bale wins the role, then I am extremely happy as I tend to become the number one fan of whoever dons the Batsuit. God, I can't wait for The Dark Knight to come out. BTW, I'm trying to make a video of Christian Bale, it's going to showcase the lifestyle of Bruce Wayne. I wanted to show how Bruce really party like a billionaire by incorporating clips from American Psycho of him bangin all those chicks with clips of him as Bruce Wayne from Batman. Snake is as much a Japanese icon as he is an overall videogame hero. We get to to play the localized version here in a america, but the way Kojima envisions the character and many others is closer to his own language and culture. Kojima has used Russel's "plisken" and Stalone's "rambo" as models for Snake. But the series itself is largely Japanese in nature, with its spiritualistic take on many common themes, and its blades vs bullets analagies. Plus its mech designs are eastern in nature, resembling bio organic "living armor" rather than the tanklike appearance of western mech designs.

edit: to make my paragraph a little more clear, reference the movie "The Last Samurai", how in the dramatic ending traditional Japanese army troops fought with swords against the industrialized modernized troops. Well, this is the very mind of the traditionalist.

Rescue Dawn, 3:10 to Yuma (which I saw the other day and I have to say that it is kick ass), The Prestige, Batman Begins and etc. I just don't know what they'd make the script about. Metal Gear Solid came in with a lot of backstory from the previous two Metal Gears so I don't know how they'll do it. A 1960s period piece about Big Boss would be cool though.

Still Kurt Russel would be the best hands down. Hes born for it. He treads that fine line so well between seriousness and cheese. And Snake is pretty weather worn and grisly anyway, who knows how old he will be in the movie. And Kurts not that old, he's just about to kick arse in Tarantinos latest. Hell if Harrison Ford can be Indiana Jones again I dont see why Snake Russell cant play the part.

Raiden should be played by a Backstreet boy. It doesn't matter which one, hell they can all take turns. They just have to have girlish hips. Oh wait. Helen Degenereze. Yup thats my new tip for Raiden.

This dude looks alot like snake and since they picked him I think he will be great for the job. Sylvester Stallone could be old Snake, but I want to now who is playing the bad guys and which ones will be in the movie. Ocelot Revolver, ect.
