The prequel to Dead Rising 2 is coming to Xbox Live on August 31st and we now have the full achievement list of Dead Rising 2: Case Zero.
While Dead Rising: Case Zero became a big success for what could be considered paid DLC, many are starting to speculate that major publishers and developers will be working to integrate this new type of prequel or preview DLC into other major titles. It could represent a nice opportunity for additional revenue in big franchises for top publishers.
I definitely see this sort of thing happening. They can make a bunch of $$ doing this in between major releases, and sort of tease the big features of the next disc release.
I don't mind if it's actually a separate story and not a glorified demo. And agreed with GWAVE, there is a fine line between a quality standalone DLC piece and getting charged for the beginning and end of a game. I once hated DLC, but releases such as Undead Nightmare and Lair of the Shadow Broker have given me faith in the idea as they are both quality experiences that stand alone from the main game. I think DLC has great potential, but to quote Uncle Ben, "with great power comes great responsibility." Unfortunately the DLC also has the power to be a bad thing and let developers force us into paying more for a full game.
Long story short, DLC is awesome when it is made for the right reason. When it's not, it's an abomination.

I am not saying anything to disparage those activities, I just think it's funny that it is broken down along those lines. I am on the side of "Killing Aliens" way more than I am "Killing People". I prefer my violence to have a less human face.
Lol, wait thats kinda redundant...you know, cos psn. . .activity. . .actual people online. . .get it? Aaah forget it, my humour is wasted on you

This Arcade game is a thanks from Capcom to all of its 360 fans FOR making Dead Rising what it is today. But who knows right, you never know. IN other news SHANK is almost upon us!
