I actually just finished Alan Wake today. It wasn't as good as I thought it would be. Now, that's not to say it's not a good game, it just didn't feel as polished as I expected it to be.

However, the game has a ton of potential and I would expect a sequel to be vastly superior. Much like the progression between Uncharted and Uncharted 2. Alan Wake has a great story but there are some frustrating design depositions they made.

Bottom line is that Remedy has a solid foundation to build off of with the next game. It just needs more polish.

I'm sorry guys but I really liked Alan Wake. It may not have been on par with U2's graphics as claimed to be (LOL), nor was it as thrilling as Heavy Rain but it was ultimately a good game regardless of it being on the 360. And for you people who said it only lasts 8 hours on first playthrough, YOU'RE WRONG! My first playthrough took me 12 hours! Eat THAT.

I don't think it'll be coming to the PS3 though cos I think M$ hates Sony (No shit sherlock) and because they (Remedy) are only willing to publish the game through Microsoft Game Studios, I don't think Sony's beloved console will ever taste Alan Wake. But there's still Heavy Rain so there's nothing to be upset about.

It better happen. Alan Wake was a good game, and Remedy put a lot of money into the engine and the game. But Alan Wake didn't sell nearly enough to recoup the loses. So that leaves Remedy in a tough spot. Either make Alan Wake, multiplat, license their engine, or make a completely new game.

And the easiest and best thing to do would be the first 2 options. Making Alan Wake multiplat should take no more than a year to port over to the PS3 (that's how long it took to port Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 with additional features). The game should garner up some extra sells for them, but probably still not enough.

Licensing the eninge is by far the best route. The engine can display some impressive visuals, but they need to get developers on board and off the Unreal Engine (which would be a blessing for most of us). No offense to the Unreal Engine, but having 70% of games using one engine doesn't add much variety.

Starting a completely new game is an option, but then that's back to tons of research and development, coding, and so much more that they'll just continue to dig a debt.

After looking at both ps3 and 360 sales for rpgs, i see an reoccuring trend on both consoles, if it involves shooting it generally sells. If it's a traditional style wrpg or jrpg it generally doesn't sell minus a few exceptions.

My one nit picking issue, almost 4 million of you bought fable 2, a very casual rpg, where you can not be killed, or see any game over screen?

How a rpg lite game outsells a fairly serious rpg like mass effect 1 or 2 i don't get, maybe it's a very easy game for rpg virgins vs game more designed for people that regularly play rpgs.

Either way rpgs are still niche compared to the loads of shooters out there.

The fact is many PS3 owners would like Alan Wake and it would probably sell better on PS3.
The reason 360 owners are after PS3 games is because most the games selling on PS3(exclusive)are not shooters.
I own a 360 but if L4D,Gears,Alan Wake and Mass Effect came to PS3,it would be useless entirely.
I have not yet played AW or ME because they are on 360 and PS3 now gets most of my,very limited time.

It depends on the agreement between MS and Remedy: it might just be for Alan Wake and not any sequels, and also Remedy continue to own the IP. Thing is if the sequel is possible on the ps3 i dont see MS paying Remedy to keep it exclusive since it's not really a system seller.
