The sound is good but its not up there with Heavenly Sword.
The game control is great, but its not as sharp as a Tony Hawk Game.
The multi-player is great but there is no ending for the game.

I agree perhaps reviewers are over thinking the reviews. Its a multiplayer only game and nothing more. Its not trying to be Halo and its Not trying to be BattleField 2042.

I didn't know games got deducted points for just being enjoyable to play. It also seems that originality means nothing to PSM as well.

EDIT: The reviewer got his AZz Owned playing it. Look at the bottom left picture( of a warhawk). Under the picture It says pretty fragile. Did the reviewer expect the warhawks to be completely indestructible? I bet he did and he is sad that his plane never got off the ground because the other "mean players" kept picking on him. Freaking Noob.

But this game has originality and a lot of other positive elements plus great online performance thanks to those dedicated servers...

I agree MK completely. This game is Digital Crack. Once your hooked, its hard to put down. Reminds me of when Halo 1 first came out, and how addicting that game was. This game deserves at least a 8.5, but not a 10/10 because well, there is no single player. People might also cry fowl because of such high ratings for a Multiplayer only game with "good" graphics.

I am interested in how Halo 3 reviews stack up in the following weeks and how many stupid comparisons between WARHAWK and Halo 3 there is going to be.

Warhawk was never going to be considered a AAA title and I don't think that this review was unfair. Dont let the scores bug you or stop you from picking it up, this game though not perfect will still be a solid title to play online and chances are you'll get some enjoyment from it.

It is worth every penny of either version...and is an absolute must own if you enjoy online combat games...

Now people comparing this to Bioshock...that is ridiculous...one is only single player...one is only multi...bioshock is amazing...and will probably be the best single player experience this year imo...but Warhawk will probably be the best online...

Odd, I was in the beta and I had a blast.

From what I read in the magazine scan, they faulted it being online only.

By that logic Counter-Strike, Team Fortress, and that online only game for X-Box Live (Shadowrun? Shadow something?) Are all failures.

They also faulted the price...It's 40 bucks...and free online with free dedicated servers. Seriously now, I'm not trying to damage control, but I will call out people for being idiots if they're logic falls outside the boundaries of reason. Like the EGM Lair review.

Edit:Shadowrun was seen as a failure because of it's high price and lack of quanitity of maps. The game was amazingly fun...

Everywhere I look says PSM gave Mobile Suit a 5.0.
If there's one thing I hate it's people making stuff up to distort FACTS.
Also, consider the fact that a lot of you are PS3 fanboys who only get to play the 3 decent next-gen games on PS3 and the guy that reviewed it probably plays at least 3 new games a week. Think about it for a second.
If you like the demo though, buy it. It'll just be more of the same...

Games like shadowrun, and warhawk are really good, and fun games but lack content. The score is probably low just because it is 40 $'s for an online game. I don't know, but I doubt this game is bf2 quality, because the graphics aren't as good. Also PSM, is part of 1up. So you guys could blame them.

The thing with Shadowrun was it was kinda hyped up, then it came out and nothing more for it. It didn't get great reviews but it's still one of the most fun games out at the moment. I think that's gonna be the case with Warhawk.

I was in the beta and it was pretty cool. I'm not to certain how to even go about scoring it. It's fun. If I were to go by the method of, "Recommendable or Not Recommendable" I'd have to give it the green light.

It's probably not going to be the best of it's genre but it is most defiantly fun to play. Flying a Warhawk is an awesome feeling.

just at it was in the beta... probably a 7.5. I'm assuming we'll see more maps with the retail release though, and that would be my main complaint about what I've already seen. Add another 5 or so maps right off the bat with the promise of more to come and I'd bump it up to a 8 for sure.
I honestly don't think this is a 9+ game, but on fun-factor alone it's worth purchasing.

I'm assuming this will be one of the biggest complaints we'll hear, so I'll address it; I don't care about it not having a single player mode. I personally don't think every game needs to have both single player and online modes. Focus on one or the other, and if you can deliver a good experience in both so much the better, but don't toss either in just because it "needs" to be there. This is a great online game, and shows the promise of both MMO and downloadable titles on consoles.

Graphics: 9 - They were really good, and the draw distance is 100% right on. Theres some cool effects and everything is really well rendered.

Sound: 9 - There is a great soundtrack of battle music and this game really does have some awesome sounds for guns, vehicles, etc...

Gameplay: 10 - OMG, This game is the most addictive, fun, most tacicle game ive played in a long time. Everyone of your friends will not want to leave after playing 4 player split screen online.

Overall: 10 - An awsome game worth every penny. I would definently recommend getting this and loving every moment of it. I hope you get it, and ill see you on the front.

I read somewhere the other day that a good thing to do is go to gamefly.com and read user reviews for games so you get a better idea and alot more input from a wide range of people so thats what i started doing and its alot better then reading gamesite reviews.

This is coming from someone who still plays Counter-Strike 1.6, Quake 3 Arena, Counter-Strike Source, Team Fortress and Battlefield 2.

The game really is a top-notch gaming experience.

I'll give 8.0. I'll fault it on:

1 for lack of maps (Easily solved with downloadable content)

.5 for rough controls as an infantry unit on the ground (Or maybe I just suck playing as infantry.

.5 for the graphics looking like a High-Defintion , High-resolution Socom 3. The Warhawks, Water, and Terrain look very nice though...

U will get hooked into warhawk...the only thing keeping us from playing the beta for 24 hours straight was the beta only issue of the PS3 locking up. They fixed it towards the end of the beta but the final game is suppose tp be freeze free.

I'd also give it an 8, and for essentially the same reasons.

1. It could certainly use more maps, but what was there was fun, expansive and breathtaking. The design itself was pretty good as well, but I think ground turrets were a bit much...just a bit.

2. The infantry combat wasn't nearly as refined as it should have been. Aiming didn't feel right no matter how the sensitivity was tweaked, and movement just felt limited and robotic. It was entirely too difficult to cut someone with your knife. Entirely. I'd like it to be something akin to the quality of GeoW's movements/aiming, minus the cover aspect. The view should be an over the shoulder type ala RE4 as well, I think that works much better for the TPS aspect.

I had an absolute blast with the beta. I would say a bare minimum of an 8.7 (as far as reviewing the beta).

The fact that you can have your buddies hop in split-screen on the fly into the online game you're playing makes this game great! Intense action, the vehicles are a blast, and the online modes in the beta made for one great time.

I will most definitely pick this up when it comes out.

First paramount drops blu-ray and now warhawk gets a 6.5. Is there a full moon out or did they change the date of April's Fools or Am I in Bizzaro world? Seriously, I beta tested warhawk. The game is very balanced, no lag, no framerate issues, FUN!!!!, and has good sixaxis controls if you enable them. Not to mention the game is addicting. This games should get no less then an 8. Why they factor in the online cost makes no sense since it has a disc version with a Bluetooth headset for the price of regular game. My gawd! This is madness!

I must admit that I haven't being THAT exited about this game...

I don't know if it's the whole "online only" idea, but I was addicted to Counter Strike 1.6 and SOURCE some years ago.. So being online only it's not the problem I think.

Maybe it's because the game is in third person, maybe cause I don't like the idea of an online only game on a console. I really don't know, but I haven't felt the excitement most of the people have felt here from this game..

I'm going to wait for some user reviews on this one and if a good amount of N4G f*kers say it's good.. I'm going to get it just to own some of these retards like Maddens, deep, DJ etc... :)

The thing that I fear the most is other sites and mags, namely EGM, 1UP, GameSpot and Eurogamer.

If PSM gave a PS3 title 6.5, what would they do to it. GameSpot already butchered BioShock with 9 as the game's lowest review so far and with EGM giving 5 to Lair, thing don't look too bright for Warhark. A fun and great game that is unfairly being punished IMO.

Wow, I'm really surprised Warhawk got a 6.5, especially from Playstation Magazine. But their criticism about bots is correct.

I have no idea why Incognito didn't include bots. Would it have been so hard to do? But a 6.5 is a bit of a shock.

Incognito has stated that they weren't happy with their bot AI, and didn't have time to revamp everything before the release date that had been set. That was their main reason for scrapping single player as well. It's understandable, too. Game developers aren't gods. The levels in Warhawk are MASSIVE. Dylan Jobe (hope I'm spelling that right) stated in a podcast that they just couldn't get the AI smart enough, and that the bots would spend too much time fooling around to become any sort of challenge. And if you think about all the options given to the player -- hop in a Warhawk, hop on a turret, plant mines, hide and snipe, drive a 4x4 while a passenger mans the MG -- it's understandable why programming bot AI became a huge pain. But, never fear, bot enthusiasts, Dylan also stated that they're going to focus a huge amount of effort into downloadable content, and if the players have a strong desire for bots, then they'll get crackin'. But I still wouldn't hold my breath. Plus, once you play the game, you'll totally realize why bots may even be a bad idea.

Wasn't going to approve this, because the quality of the scan was so bad and I know with photo shop and all. But in the interest of giving everyone on this site ALL the info, I thought important to allow this.

This game, however, requires a different way of thinking, and I don't know if all the reviewers are ready to see this game for what it is, an ONLINE ONLY game. Not everyone can handle a game with no single player and justify the cost, and I bet that a lot of the score hinged on that.

Not to mention that different people like different games and have different preferences. A good example is R6V, I bought that and its has to be the worst game I have ever played, yet some people love the game and the online experience, and to see most reviews online you would think that I was crazy but its how I feel.This might be one of those instances, but IMO this magazine is suspect.

I have a subscription, and their reviews are a bit on the low brow side but they might be right. Of course, that would go against all the beta testers that were lucky enough to play this and gave rave reviews, so I will just have to go with the gaming public on this one. Pre-purchase tomorrow for sure.

Well if you actually read their magazine, they always bragged about their slogan of being an "Independent Playstation Magazine" and they claim they're unbiased. I'm not too sure now since the former Editor-in-chief Chris Slate who ran the magazine for 10 years left and was replaced by a former Xbox360 Editor-in-chief Rob Smith. The first issue he released about 3 months ago, their was a special section there where he envisioned the perfect ps3 controller will be the Xbox 360 controller with Wii motion sensing. The following issue, he stated that he got hate mails for it. I mean, c'mon your new in the mag and already your were showing how much you favor Xbox 360 which was really retarded. That's why I want to see who reviewed the game and I'll wait for my issue which should be arriving since I'm a subscriber.

But I did get a gift subscription to PSM last year and I can tell you that it's the worst magazine I've ever subscribed to. The new editor - his first letter from the editor was all about how lame the PS3 is - seriously, can't you muster some enthusiasm now that you work for PSM? A big indication of their suckatude is that they have been hemorrhaging staff over the past year - it's almost as though PSM staff would rather do anything then work for PSM and it shows.

That is laughable at best, because the game has been clearly an ONLINE ONLY game. Now there you go. I was right again. Mark my words again. Heavenly Sword will end somewhere at the end of a fat 7, max. a small 8. The seven btw is what NextGenIreland had behind the dot... mmhhhhhh makes you wonder.

So we know: Lair ain't AAA, EGM reviewed 6, 5.5 and 5
Warhawk won't be AAA
Predicted: Heavenly Sword won't be AAA.

As I wrote somewhere else, Uncharted is the only PS3 exclusive this year that COULD get AAA. I may really hope so for you Sony fans otherwise no AAA exclusive for the PS3 to push units this holiday!

I did not see this coming. This game is hell of fun online i was in the beta and it was great. I guarantee this game will average atleast and 8.0 avg on gamerankings dont believe this review. Could you pull your head out of your posterior for just a second. The reason that Bioshock didn't get marked off for no on-line is because it's a story based game from the perspective of a single player. Having an on-line Bioshock in which the main characters is running around shooting other on-line main characters is dumb -- similar to "The Darkness's" online. So, what jsin is saying is that Warkhawk is a team based battle game. That's the main feature of the game. ON-LINE PLAY! And these on-line only games are going to be more common as time goes on...and it seems like PSM uses a grading scale that includes single player scores. And as such, WH may have gotten marks off for it.

This is similar to what happened to MotorStorm at GS.com's review. They graded it from the perspective of a single player game first, on-line second. When it should have been the reverse. The 7.9 score at GS was wrong! That game is FUN! And should have been more inline with what IGN (8.9) gave it. Especially now with time attack and the new tracks coming soon.

i am surprised by this review, especially coming from a Playstation Magazine. However I have no reason to doubt that they were wrong in applying the score, I think Warhawk is a fun game that is lacking in some respects. Just like Shadowrun, if you want a solid multiplayer title to play online, dont let this score dissuade you, pick it up and you will have some fun

I mean damn a.i. has not even advanced far enough for it to be good in a game like warhawk. While it may work for a game like ut3 where they a.i. is just programmed to shoot you. in warhawk the a.i. would have to be able to go from shooting you on foot to chasing you in a jeep to dogfighting you in a plane, and still remember whateva the objective is. If there is no single player mode/campaign that mean that I have to put up with azzholes on the internet if I want to play. I don't know if they have a local-only multiplayer mode, but if they do I still don't want to invite friends to my house every time I want to play it. Even if the story line would have sucked for this game I'd still want to play it, doesn't effect the gameplay. Also, they could have just said screw the story line and just had a bunch of missions. Ace Combat didn't even need online and IMO it's tons of fun even to this day. Games today depend on online waaay too much these days.

its like shadowrun for PC/360. that game averaged 6.5/7. these games are one trick ponies basically; why would i pay the same price for these games when i could get halo, gears, resistance, call of duty, etc. games that have both good multi and single player? EPIC released this problem with Unreal Tournament 3; that game is going to feature a strong single player element for the first time in the series. Epic probably realized MP only games are not worth the full price of other great games. people say "counter strike is a success!" and yes it is, but no one was ever asked to pay $60 for counterstrike ( i dont have bluetooth wireless headset, so id be paying $60) i would trust this review over Nextgenireland anyday. read the amount of review PSM has done and compare that to nextgenireland. thats called "credibility"

That review is kind of harsh. Sure it's only got Multiplayer but it's not a full priced game, right? That should neutralize the lack of a single player game, unlike Shadowrun.

This is probably a fluke score (it happens) but I do think that it's an example of a game not being able to live up to all the hype.

He used to say that PlayStation Magazine reviews don't matter for playstation games! That you were gonna wait for 1up, EGM, Gamespot and at least 8 other reviewers to see the games. If reviews don't coincide, oh well. You could say Resistance is a AAA title, given the resources invested in them. So we see with this review. A 6.5. I was about right on with my comments if you read them through.

Aha, so in that view, even a game with a 4, 5 or 6 out of 10 can be seen as AAA? BULL. Its widely known that when average reviews are taken lets say 10 to 20, and the mark is over 90%, we're talking about AAA. AAA is a rating. Things one can measure. The 360 has multiple games over 90% average. PS3 has none. Clear enough?

PGR3 and COD2 were NOT system sellers. In fact, I retract my statement; Geometry Wars was not even a system seller. The reason PGR3 and COD2 (and Geometry Wars) sold so well with Xbox 360 is because... well... there was NOTHING ELSE on the system. Those 2 (or three) would have been overshadowed by Forza, Halo and Gears had they been out by then.

It's funny Mart, you call me a "Freaking Fony Fanboy", I never said Motorstorm and Resistance were system sellers. They are, just like Call of Duty 2 and PGR3, great games, but not system sellers (I personally like Motorstorm and Resistance more because they're not conventional, in the sense that they are not rip-offs of medal of honor and Gran Turismo respectively). They, like on the Xbox 360, sold because there was nothing else, i.e., no Killzone 2, no MGS4, no FFXIII or FFVXIII, no GT5, and so on.

I would have said Lair... but since I am not a "FFF" as you say, and there have been several reviews that panned it, I won't. But, have you eaten your crow yet? You said PS3 wouldn't get a single 100/100 game. Go to metacritic... search for "heavenly sword". That game wouldn't be possible on your favorite console, just because the Audio alone won't fit on a DVD9. It has its first 100/100 right there. Eat crow, marty.

And by the way, you talk a lot about metacritic "AAA" scores. The only metacritic AAA exclusive franchise on Xbox 360, is Gears of War. Everything else is either on another console, or will be. And if not on console, on PC! (Forza is not AAA, it's AA at best, with the game barely reaching a 9.0 average). So, why would anyone want to buy a 360 rather than upgrading their PC? Only poor (and I mean really poor) hardcore gamers, as casuals will opt for the Wii or PS2. What key first party PS3 title can you get on PC anyway? Only "The Agency".

The game is not even full priced. Magazines and other publications should be consistent on their gradings, otherwise reviews are gonna stop mattering less and less. 1up said they would be grading the game based on value / price. Will others follow?

If you don't like online games then stay away. It seems that PSM missed the point entirely. However one thing is true...this game is no Battlefield. Not even close. But then again even a simple game like Battlefield 2142 is beyond the reach of any console of this generation be it the PS3 or the Xbox 360, and you can't really expect a budget tittle like Warhawk to achieve this.

Sorry console boys, the PC still rules the shooter world, at least when it comes to playing games online.

I somewhat agree and disagree. you shouldn't go by one Magazine reviewer... But you should be careful with how Sony fanboys review games too. There are many Sony fanatics here that give all Playstation games a 10/10 even before they've seing actual gameplay footage. As long as is on the PS3 they love it. And that's why they are totally unreliable. I will wait until more realiable sources review the games. I mean this is PSN right? I don't think they hate the PS3... That was hard to read but i thought i read it said the game was 60 bucks? Its not 60 bucks unless u need a bluetooth headset. I even think 40 bucks is a bit much for such a one sided game and 25-30 would be a price point that would make most ppl buy it just because they need games!

Rpg elements vs. Advanced multiplayer plus single player. The truth is PS3 has 15 first party games to score through and most of the same third party, I might still choose Lair or Warhawk before the Holidays. If Warhawk is mediocre compared to the rest, but still enjoyable, then I say a good Holiday is on the way. No excuses for peoples opinions, PSM have the right to score how they feel. But Game Informer is my end all/end all media score. I do not choose first person shooters over third person action or third person shooters. And what new IP can battle Halo 3? I don't know how much more disappointment I can take. For me, it was Fear, Madden, now this. Then there was Rainbow Six that looked horrible in 1080i. I don't know how much more I'm willing to take. I'm not ready to sell my system, especially after I bought all these Blu-ray movies (lol) but I can't help but think I may have bought in on the wrong system. Warhawk was a game I was really pulling for. Sony needed this game to be great, same with Lair, but it seems otherwise...I'm gonna go and play the one game that didn't disappoint: Resistance.

This is a load of crap. Why would anyone trust this review. His first major complaint is a lack of bots. Thats ridiculous. This game, unlike most games, went through a beta test. I beta tested it. It was great. Loads of fun. If you want a game that has bots, dont buy this game. If youre like me, bots can be fun and good for practice, but human vs human is where the competition is at. And whos to say that they wont release a bot mode later on, if there is a demand. When was the last time someone complained that a game doesnt have bots. Take it from me..or ask someone you know that played the beta. Its very addicting and fun.

This is the first time I have ever seen a game with so many ways to fight and it gets a 6.5 that is crazy. Man i can fly a Warhawk with the Sixaxis and shoot people on the ground who are real people playing the game and they can shoot at me with Tank, Jeeps, rockets, and turrent guns on the Ground, that to me is amazing man, just think about all that and you can clearly see how fun this game is. 6.5 is truly a mstake PSM. It is not suppose to be a graphical showcase game and I prefer that it not have a single player. I have been playing Rainbow six since it first came out on the 360 and never played single player because the Multiplayer is so good and this game has the same qualities that i like online. Either way I will still keep my subscription to PSM. It is a great magazine, the best in my opinion.

Clearly these people didn't take enough time to truly dive into the game. I have played in the closed Beta, and it is one of the BEST multi player games I have played for a console in a long time. It's just simply FUN, it's not too tasking or "serious."

The balance of the game is almost perfect, other then some hiccups with some guns. I don't see how this game can get a 6.5, when it's so addictive. What are the standards for rating a game these days?

Does it have to be better then the next big thing? Can't it simply be good by itself, or does it have to be subjected to some other game? Warhawk is not Halo, or Haze etc.. it's a game with it's own unique twist to multi player shooter.

The rating is bogus, ask anyone who has played the game and they will tell you the same. For a game that is multi player, with the great amount of graphics it has, for the amount of intensity you get form playing it, for the amount of fun you have playing with your buddies. This game deserves a 9.0 or better.

Only disagree if you have PLAYED the game, don't be a tool.

PGR3 and COD2 were NOT system sellers. In fact, I retract my statement; Geometry Wars was not even a system seller. The reason PGR3 and COD2 (and Geometry Wars) sold so well with Xbox 360 is because... well... there was NOTHING ELSE on the system. Those 2 (or three) would have been overshadowed by Forza, Halo and Gears had they been out by then.

It's funny Mart, you call me a "Freaking Fony Fanboy", I never said Motorstorm and Resistance were system sellers. They are, just like Call of Duty 2 and PGR3, great games, but not system sellers (I personally like Motorstorm and Resistance more because they're not conventional, in the sense that they are not rip-offs of medal of honor and Gran Turismo respectively). They, like on the Xbox 360, sold because there was nothing else, i.e., no Killzone 2, no MGS4, no FFXIII or FFVXIII, no GT5, and so on.

I would have said Lair... but since I am not a "FFF" as you say, and there have been several reviews that panned it, I won't. But, have you eaten your crow yet? You said PS3 wouldn't get a single 100/100 game. Go to metacritic... search for "heavenly sword". That game wouldn't be possible on your favorite console, just because the Audio alone won't fit on a DVD9. It has its first 100/100 right there. Eat crow, marty.

And by the way, you talk a lot about metacritic "AAA" scores. The only metacritic AAA exclusive franchise on Xbox 360, is Gears of War. Everything else is either on another console, or will be. And if not on console, on PC! (Forza is not AAA, it's AA at best, with the game barely reaching a 9.0 average). So, why would anyone want to buy a 360 rather than upgrading their PC? Only poor (and I mean really poor) hardcore gamers, as casuals will opt for the Wii or PS2. What key first party PS3 title can you get on PC anyway? Only "The Agency".

This is really really sad. A game can't get a good or mediocre review without fanboys screaming conspiracy theories. Its just plain pathetic. Lets look at this a lil more objectively.

I can understand why the reviewer gave Warhawk 6.5/10 review. There's just not a whole lot to the game. Its not as deep an experience as WoW. The graphics are....okay...but that's usually the same with all multiplayer online games as graphics take a hit when more characters are on screen. However Warhawk isn't great looking for a multiplayer game, it looks good...but unfortunately it doesn't stand out. With no single-player/story mode your experience is dependent on people being online.

Warhawk kind of comes across as a multiplayer feature that should have been part of another game(techincally I guess that's true since it wasn't originally a multiplayer only game) or a multiplayer beta of a game coming out in the future. Unfortunately a game like this will lose its appeal very quickly..at least for me. I agree with the author..I can't justify paying $60 for a incomplete game. Even fighting games have story modes..and they don't need them.

Its sad because I was really looking forward to this game...but ever since they announced it would be multiplayer only my enthusiasm for this title has dwindled from fear that it would be apparently what it has become.

Also another thing people should realize is the incredible amount of hype that has been surrounding this title since it was announced. Playstation fans and fanboys have been singing this games praises for a long time creating alot of buzz for it. People loved the original Warhawk so it made anticipation and expectations for this game very high. This game simply didn't live up to the hype created about it.

That's not what happened. Actually Warhawk was not over hyped. It was actually under hyped because of the shake up at the company in which there were reports that there was a conflict regarding single player being cut out. The devs believed that SP was not very fun and they needed to focus on MP instead. This was reported in blogs about 3-4 months ago as, "Warhawk development stalls! Egads!"

After that people kind of forgot about the game UNTIL...beta testers started to TALK about their experiences with the game and how FUN it was.

So, this was not hyped because of superfluous reasons. It was reported based on what beta tested has talked about.

I played the beta and I can tell you that it's no 6.5 game. There was more to Warhawk that kept people coming back to it. It's addictive and fun: a formula that works perfectly with multi-player only games.

A simple game of capture the flag:

It's the scope of the levels and the seamless transitions from air to ground that gives it this sandbox feel.

It's the tension of hastily landing your Warhawk amidst missiles and bombs to capture an enemy flag, only to have to return it along those same feelings of tension.

It's the tight ground combats that require a little bit of strategy and a little bit of erratic combat. (Knifing unsuspecting people from behind is a blast!)

It's the constant action happening around you that always keeps you alert, on your toes.

It's the fact that there's so much to do: Protect your base/flag, get in a Warhawk for dogfights or bully people on the ground(watch out for missile launchers), hop in a powerful tank to force your way to their flag, hop in a smaller vehicle for more speed and a quicker way to their flag, snipe people from far, target missile launcher at Warhawks =].

The problem with multi-only games is that people will have different experiences and one might get an extraordinary one and the other person might get a mediocre one. It's not as controlled like in a single-player game. It varies each time you play. Even though many of us had an overall positive(addictive) experience, there will be some who find it average. This is why the game won't do as well as it should. It's a game where you have to play it yourself and form your own experience(A timed demo of some sort would do wonders for it).

In all my discussions with Warhawk beta testers, I've never heard once about them complaining with regards to graphics. 32 players onscreen at once. 32 players onscreen at once! With that many onscreen players, the graphics will need to be toned down. What 360 game has that many onscreen players at once. Why not give a game its just do based on the fact its ONLY multiplayer. The only potential buyers are going to be multiplayer game lovers. Why didn't they review it based on this fact.

I think I read about the omission of bots. This is a multiplayer title. It was designed for a max of 32 human beings. Why would I want to play this game with 1/2 human ... 1/2 bots? I don't have bots in Gears of War! What kind of crap flaw is that? BOTS????

can you imagine if Calling All Cars had no single player? Some nights when there's only 5 multi-player servers and all filled up, you would be out of luck. I guess this is the most reasonable explanation for the score.

For those who say the ground combat sucks, it really doesn't. It's not Counter-Strike, but it is loads of fun. Especially since you have to equate for the fact that if you're on the ground, you will still be battling the Warhawks in the air. Nothing like jumping into a tank, rounding a corner, and blowing up a hovering Warhawk trying to shoot down your flag carrier in his jeep. Also some of the smaller maps are fun even without warhawks! The guns, sniper rifle, rocket launcher, flame thrower, and grenades are all put to great use... until someone calls in an air strike with their binoculars and massacres everyone, including his own team... bastard :P A lot of the people who were playing in the beta who were new had fun just help guard bases on the turrets. One of my friends just ran around to different missle turrets to protect me while I capped (in splitscreen game). He had a blast, until he learned to fly a warhawk, then I had to turn off the ps3 or we would be playing all night. :P

I don't think anyone who hasnt played this game understands that this game is really fun. This isnt some game that only gamereviewers played. The general public played this game in its beta form and loved it. No one said anything bad about it. It had typical beta issues and halfway through the beta they updated and fixed most of the issues and then took it off the servers to finish it out. It's a great game. There are thousands of people who played it and can vouch that this review is retarded. For all i know this review is based on this guy and a few friends doing a private server demonstration. It doesnt appear he sat around and played the game daily for over a month with loads of players in a variety of matches. A game that can have 32 players and allow for 4 player split screen and still look great. You can have 8 ps3s across the world with 4 people on each ps3 and have a lagless match. That alone is worth an 8. So quit with the "just wait" crap. I own a PS3 and I am not the least bit dissappointed in this game. I am actually quite excited to pick up where i left off in the beta.

I'm a fan of all three consoles, but, IMO, each console has 3 exclusive titles that have been the most hyped up:

PS3- Heavenly Sword, Lair, Warhawk

Wii- Metroid Prime 3, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros Brawl

360- Halo 3, BioShock, Mass Effect

I know that there are exceptions to the rule, but as far as exclusives that the consumer has knowledge about, that's essentially what is most important.

So with MS and Wii's games looking better than ever, what will Sony do if they can't justify a $600 this holiday season?

I know a good game when I see it too. In fact, I know a good game when I play it. That's why this game had so much hype. No one really cared before the beta, but after it was over, everyone cared. This game got hype because it deserved it. For every bad review this game gets there are a thousand beta testers out there saying the complete opposite because they have experienced it as well. I don't know what this guy experienced but the difference between his experience and mine are like night and day. I had f'in withdrawals after the beta ended for goodness sake!

Wow. I'm shocked at the rating because I've heard a ton of ppl saying they loved the demo and some putting it ahead of the Halo demo. I've read time and time again Halo looks like garbage, Halo 2.5, it looks like a cartoon etc. Halo is world reknown for its multiplayer aspect both by Lan and Live, not its graphics. Thats why so many ppl are attracted to the game. Yet with Warhawk, the same ppl bashing Bungie for its graphics on Halo are saying "Warhawk isn't about graphics, its about how fun it is!". So which one is it? Please make up your mind because Halo has a very high "fun" factor when it comes to multiplayer and should be held in the same regard.

well youre just asking to start a verbal war. to be honest, halo is just an easy target for haters. It is a good looking game and noone can contest how popular it is. I think the problem is that halo gets compared to gritty FPS, when clearly its not about that. I also think that after years of hype for all 3 halos..its talked about like its the ultimate FPS and playstation fans could care less. I'm not looking for a "well ms fans could care less about...". I am just saying that there could be a thousand halos and I still wont feel like i am missing out and i get tired of someone telling me i am.
Warhawk and halo both have that coloful style to them. And warhawk is a really good looking game, as is Halo. But Halo should blow your mind by the third game and its really not that great.

I love PSM. It's the only magazine I actually suscribe to. After reading the article I understand their complaints, and I agree. I've always wondered why games don't include bots for multiplayer, and for a striclty multiplayer game, it seems even more a glaring gap. As for the gripe about the warhawk not having enough armor, I guess it's true. But I thought it makes sense to not have a lot of armor because its so fast. So I agree with all the critiscm they said, but giving it a 6.5 outa 10 still seems harsh. If I didn't have anybody to play with, and maybe just a few friends that system linked, yea, 6.5. But online, which is what it's really meant for, I'd score it higher. So with all that said, just don't buy it if you're not going to be playing online much. I still will because even though I value PSM's word, I've heard enough positive reviews from beta testers to buy it.

It is only one review, so it hardly makes a defining statement as to the quality of the game. That said, a 6.5/10 is definitely not a good start for such an anticipated game...

I'm surprised the comments in this news post haven't caused my computer to overheat from all the flaming. Too much fanboyism over one freakin (somewhat-biased reviewer's) review!

People call Sony fans sheep, yet it's all the 360 fans who are saying that Warhawk is crap and that it's a huge blow for the Playstation, EVEN THOUGH 95% of people who played the beta thought it was an amazing experience. Fancy that... people actually playing a game and liking it taking that over the word of some ex-XBOX mag editor's half-assed opinion on the game.

I never really base any of my game purchases off of professional reviews, rather I look to other gamers and their level of enjoyment of a game. I just dl'd Warhawk from the PS Store because a girl in my class and her husband say how much they enjoy the game, and for 29.99 you can't beat it! I ran through the training missions this morning and the have put in an hour and a half online time so far. If I didn't have a paper and a final to complete for Thursday I probably would still be on...wife permitting!!!
